    Hi K8,
If you read the book of Acts you will see the apostles baptised only in the name of Jesus Christ,
and they learned at the feet of the master.

We are baptised into him and his death.
There is salvation in no other name.

    Acts 4:12
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

To All………..the Holy Spirit is Godly intellect Period, and God imparts that to us because He is in us, and works through us, just as he did Jesus. Its the same thing except Jesus had the fullness
    of the spirit in him.

    Peace…………gene

Nick……Here is is for you word for word……> Joh 6:63..>It is the spirit that quickeneth ; the flesh profiteth nothing. The (WORDS) I Speak unto you (ARE) Spirit, and Life.

If you look up Spirit in any good dictionary you will find that it is (intelligence) and Words are the expression of that intelligence. Therefore Jesus was correct in saying His words are Spirit and are life.

Is that clear enough for you. And the are in all the versions just pick the one you want.

    Hi GB,
The words of the WORD are to us his God-given lifegiving Spirit planted in us.
Thus we grow unto the mind of Christ, but also receive a new heart and conscience.
Christ is not just an intellect, and we become like him in far more ways than just in understanding.

But that also has nothing to do with man's spirit as Jesus gave his own spirit up at Calvary.

    Jn19
30Therefore when Jesus had received the sour wine, He said, “It is finished!” And He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.

He died and did not just lose his intellect or intelligence.

So you cannot draw from this idea that the spirit is intellect.

Do do so would be to place your understanding just on intellect.

Nick….why don't you look up spirit in any dictionary and you will find it is intellect. And All a person has is His or Her intellect remove it and the person and the person is removed you are no more or no less then your intellect in what ever form it takes. Man Had only a body until the Spirit or intellect was added to it, then man became a living Soul. Just as it says. And a word is the expression of intellect a man speaks. God's spirit is Godly intellect God is spirit and Jesus said the words he spoke (WERE) Spirit and Life. So Life is spiritual intellect and our word express it.

    Hi GB,
So even the common parlance of the street offers you no support.
You would have had some for emotions but nothing about intellect there.

Nick Do look up Spirit in your Dictionary. You will find that it is your intelligent. Among other. It is what is in God the Father too. He gives it to us, right? So why I ask do you disagree with that?

Nick……Well lets see what my Webster Universal Dictionary the unabridged international edition says.

Spirit…> the life giving principle; breath of life; conceived of as animating the body.

2…> the eternal, non-material part of, or element of man, which WILLS, THINKS,and FEELS, thought of as a gift of God; connected with body, THE INTELLIGENCE, SOUL. b…>this element or principle THOUGHT of as separate from the body; as disembodied INTELLIGENCE>

O and Nick…..My glasses are fine as you can see, Had you used an unabridged dictionary that shows the original meanings and not the changed meanings over time you would have see it., But besides that Just common sense tell you that Spirit as explained by Jesus as Word derived it meaning from intellect. You really don't even need a dictionary the Scriptures makes it plain.

    Hi GB,
Why are you desperate to find some worldly support for your idea?

Is it because it is vital to your doctrine formation
and cannot be found in scripture?

But you should search for it in scripture-on which all godly doctrine is based?

Greetings Gene….You present a convincing argument..My question to you is,If the spirit is a measurement of Godly interlect, how do you explain the evil in the minds of some of the most interlectually endowed members of our society. The spirit is the esssence of what we are….It affords the emotions so we can love, reason and most of all communicate with God…(If we so desire)

    Paul says there is a spirit in man;

1 Cor. 2:11 “For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which
is in him? Even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.”

This spirit in us, should we ask who is he? Or should we ask what is it? This spirit is our mind; it is what sets us apart from the animals. This mind enables us to learn how to read and write to calculate, to think, to plan and build, with it we make choices, all the things God does. That is the image of God he has created us in, but it is not another person. We influence other people by example and by what we teach them. God influences us with his Holy Mind, his Holy Spirit. Paul writes to the Philippians.

Phil. 2:5 “ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus.’

This mind that was in Jesus was the mind of God, Gods spirit, his Holy Spirit.
    Why would Paul say?

Eph. 1:3 “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ…”
Eph. 4:6 “One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all”.
Col. 1:3 “We give thanks to God and the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ…”

Why is there never a scripture that gives thanks to the Holy Spirit?

Good Question Georg……It seems to me that, when we give thanks to the father we are in effect thanking his very being and that encompasses his spirit….
