Hi KW,
Hebrews 9:21
And the blood was put on the Tent and all the holy vessels in the same way.
Objects can be holy but not righteous.
May 17, 2016 at 11:03 am#814271kerwinParticipantNick,
John believes it is the case as he states “cleanse us from all unrighteousness”.
May 17, 2016 at 11:09 am#814272kerwinParticipantNick,
It makes sense that is making the vessels holy and not righteous but Jews still wash their vessels to make them ceremonial clean. So I would think in that case cleansing them makes them holy.
On the other hand Paul is using it to symbolize something. I have not looked into the details.
May 17, 2016 at 11:13 am#814273NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Being cleansed from unrighteousness does not produce righteousness.
It is a fruit of the Spirit.
Ephes 5:9
(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
May 17, 2016 at 12:21 pm#814274kerwinParticipantNick,
John said he cleanses the believe from all unrighteous the result is being like God in true righteousness. I can check but I doubt translators added the word “all”.
I admit it is a bold claim but he makes a lot of bold claims.
May 17, 2016 at 12:25 pm#814275kerwinParticipantNick,
I also know people can choose to live by the flesh even after being cleansed of righteousness. If that is the case John teaches them to confess their sins that they may be cleansed of all unrighteousness.
May 17, 2016 at 12:28 pm#814276kerwinParticipantNick,
Paul makes some bold claims in Ephesians 5:9.
May 17, 2016 at 12:54 pm#814277NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
And in Eph 6.14 we are advised to put on the breastplate of righteousness.
So it is not of ourselves but of God’s gifting.
May 17, 2016 at 1:35 pm#814278kerwinParticipantNick,
Yes!
May 17, 2016 at 1:48 pm#814279NickHassanParticipantHi KW
Is this what you mean?
Mt 12
44 “Then it says, ‘I will return to my house from which I came’; and when it comes, it finds it unoccupied, swept, and put in order. 45 “Then it goes and takes along with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. That is the way it will also be with this evil generation.” 46 While He was still speaking to the crowds, behold, His mother and brothers were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him.
Cleansing has nothing to do with being righteous.
May 17, 2016 at 2:05 pm#814280NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
So a man is like a house to a demon.
It can be clean or not so and can be occupied or empty.
We are designed to house the Spirit of God
May 17, 2016 at 2:10 pm#814281Ed JParticipantHi Ed,
Did you not read it spiritually?
Rev 20
I saw the souls of those beheaded because of their witness to Jesus and the word of God..
Is Jesus not your head yet?
Are you still your own lord and master?
Hi Nick,
Rev. 20:4 is about Christians actually being beheaded in islamic countries.
It CANNOT be metaphorically about Christians taking up their cross to follow Jesus,
because the rest of the verse mentions they would not worship the beast nor his image.____________
God bless
Ed JMay 17, 2016 at 2:22 pm#814282NickHassanParticipantHi ED,
Neither they would.
May 17, 2016 at 2:34 pm#814283NickHassanParticipantHi ED,
If Rev 20 refers only to real beheadings it severely limits the application of the verse.
Folks would be queuing up.
May 17, 2016 at 2:46 pm#814284NickHassanParticipantHi Ed,
BECAUSE OF could also mean FOR according to Strongs.
In other words IN PREPARATION FOR.
It allows a different view of the verse
May 17, 2016 at 3:40 pm#814285kerwinParticipantNick,
That passage does describe it.
May 17, 2016 at 4:34 pm#814286NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
I have no fixed ideas on this but welcome the views of others.
May 18, 2016 at 2:00 am#814291GeneBalthropParticipantNICK….FOR OR BECAUSE OF, could mean, “for the sake of”, that the was i see it.
peace and love to you and yours. …….gene
May 18, 2016 at 7:36 am#814300kerwinParticipantNick,
That is how to learn.
