In this case I do not think their is a difference between on and in. The key point is that it remained with him afterwards.

How can you lie to a person’s spirit but not the person whose spirit it is?

The plan of God is to make us like him by sharing His Spirit.

But men want to make Him like us.

Yes, but that is different than the comparison I used. God cannot be tempted by evil and man is commonly tempted. Jesus himself was tempted by evil just like any of his fellow humans nevertheless many erroneously say he is God.

The likeness I was speaking of is that like God man has a spirit. God’s is holy and righteous and teaches a man’s to be likewise. Without God man’s spirit falls short of God’s glory and therefore cannot teach God anything.
