JodiParticipantHi Berean,
Please provide scripture that gives definition to the divine nature and the definition of the Holy Spirit showing how they are different.
As you say Jesus HAS both, so for each one what is it that they each give to him?

JodiParticipantHi All,
Theos – God , god
a god or goddess, a general name of deities or divinities
Theios – word origin Theos
Acts 17:29 Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man’s device.
2 Peter 1:3 According as his divine power hath given unto us all things that pertain unto life and godliness, through the knowledge of him that hath called us to glory and virtue: 4 Whereby are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises: that by these ye might be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust.
Theiotes – word origin Theios
Romans 1:20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Theotes – Theos
Colossians 2:8 Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ. 9 For in him dwelleth all the fulness of the Godhead bodily.
Godhead or divine nature is the nature or essence/qualities of a god, but for us there is only but one God the Father. ALL OTHER gods are thus FALSE gods. YHVH is the ONLY TRUE God.
As the prophet Jeremiah tells us that other gods have no power, they cannot do any good nor any bad, they have no breath in them as in they don’t exist (Jeremiah 10)!
Isaiah 45:5 I am the LORD, and there is none else, there is no God beside me: I girded thee, though thou hast not known me: 6 That they may know from the rising of the sun, and from the west, that there is none beside me. I am the LORD, and there is none else. 7 I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil: I the LORD do all these things. 8 Drop down, ye heavens, from above, and let the skies pour down righteousness: let the earth open, and let them bring forth salvation, and let righteousness spring up together; I the LORD have created it. 9 Woe unto him that striveth with his Maker! Let the potsherd strive with the potsherds of the earth. Shall the clay say to him that fashioneth it, What makest thou? or thy work, He hath no hands?
The Divine Nature of YHVH is He forms the light, He makes peace, He creates righteousness.
We see that YHVH does these things through His own Spirit where it is thus by the workings of His Spirit we identify His Divine qualities and powers. The Spirit of YHVH is a Holy Spirit, a Spirit that is set apart from all others, as only He, of His own self, has wisdom, council and might, goodness and mercy etc. As Jesus himself said that he could do nothing of himself and that ONLY God is good.
Judges 15:14 And when he came unto Lehi, the Philistines shouted against him: and the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him, and the cords that were upon his arms became as flax that was burnt with fire, and his bands loosed from off his hands.
2 Samuel 2:2 The Spirit of the LORD spake by me, and his word was in my tongue.
Isaiah 11:2 And the Spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD;
Exodus 31:3 And I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship,
1 Samuel 10:10 And when they came thither to the hill, behold, a company of prophets met him; and the Spirit of God came upon him, and he prophesied among them.
Micah 3:8 But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.
Job 33:4 The Spirit of God hath made me, and the breath of the Almighty hath given me life.
Ephesians 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
Isaiah 61:1 The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
Ezekiel 36:27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them.
Luke 11:13 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children: how much more shall your heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to them that ask him?
Matthew 12:18 Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my Spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.
Galatians 5:22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, 23 Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
There is ONLY ONE TRUE GOD, our heavenly Father YHVH where the works of His Spirit reveal to us His Divine Nature/qualities. YHVH is righteousness and by the power of His Spirit He can make us into the image of His Spirit’s righteousness, where thus we are heirs of His Spirit and are made as joint heirs with the anointed Jesus, all of us partaking in the divine nature of our Father and God YHVH.
As Jesus was anointed with the oil above his brethren he is our King of kings and Lord of lords. As he sits on his father David’s throne according to the flesh we will be there following him.

GeneBalthropParticipantJodi…..Another Excellent post, if only they would really take it to heart. Instead of listing to all these false teachings of trinitarian Churches, and start to question some of the things they have been telling them. They need to understand whoever they give their minds over to , that is who they serve, either the truth to eternal life, or Satanic lies that Jesus said are “the many that would come and say he was the Christ and DECEIVE , “MANY” .
WE all need to question what we hear and apply it to all the scriptures in our bibles, not just one or two, as most here do, but all scriptures pertaining to the subjects we are talking about. The same flow should fit in both the OLD AND NEW TESTAMENTS. if they don’t fit exactly, then there is an error, and we must honestly search them out ,
Your doing an excellent job Jodi.peace and love to you and yours………gene

Danny DabbsParticipantDanny, give me the scriptures that you say I won’t accept that speak of Jesus’s divine nature?
Allright. Let’s start with John 1
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Jesus is the Word and was with His Father before the creation.
Because verse 14 clearly identifies Jesus as the Word.
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Did you catch it?
and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father
The Word is clearly Jesus.
Now, how can anyone twist these very clear verses?March 26, 2021 at 10:09 am#869944Berean

YOU: There is ONLY ONE TRUE GOD,
Answer Jodi and Gene:
How would you consider anything TRUE on earth?
Peace and love in Jesus Christ
March 27, 2021 at 3:47 am#869948
GeneBalthropParticipantDanny…….Your first mistake is you started with Something in the New Testament, to try to describe Jesus, but where did Jesus start to describe who he was? , he started in the existing scriptures, the Old Testament. He started with those scriptures that spoke of him clearly and used them to tell who he was.
You on the other hand start with a scripture where the word Jesus is not even mentioned in the text. And have to change the text to fit your false teaching,There are around fifty to a hundred Old Testament texts that tell us who the real Jesus is. Most of which Jodi and I have used over and over here, but you do as most deceived people do, you force word to say what they do not “specifically ” say , please show us the word Jesus even mentioned in John 1, please don’t twist or force the text to say what in fact it doesn’t specifically say.
To say the word was with God and was GOD, does not “specifically ” say Jesus was the Word mention there. That is “forcing” the text, to fit you false teachings. Common sense should tell anyone that “GOD AND HIS WORD ARE ONE AND THE SAME PERSON. JUST AS YOU and YOUR WORDS ARE THE SAME PERSON. NOT TO EVEN MENTION Jesus himself said “the words I am telling you are “NOT” my WORDS , but the words of “HIM” that sent me, another words he was telling US , they were God the Fathers words.NOT ONLY THAT , but in the beginning, Jesus was not even there. I know that you false teachers say, the word US in Genesis means Jesus and God , we’re there when , God said “let US create man”. , but again where is the word Jesus even mentioned there, it is not, so again you force the text to say what in fact it does not say.
On the other hand , Jodi and I produce actual text that describe who Jesus Christ really is . directly written in your very own scriptures that clearly describe who Jesus is, where he came from, even the same scripture that Jesus “himself” used to tell people who he was . We have repeated them over and over here many, many, many times, and not a single engagement about them, as I can recall, about those sound solid scriptures that even Jesus Christ himself used to tell people about himself , you people Just ignore them, as if the were not even written in you scriptures.
So, you not only deny what we are telling you, but you are even denying Jesus, and The One, that sent Him, God the father, because you don’t believe what we are saying, but also what Jesus himself said, as well as God the Father, therefore you are under a “COURSE”, the COURSE of blindness, of the truth. Sent to you, and as a result, can not understand the truth, because you have not loved the truth and are given a deluding Spirit, sent to all those who do not love the truth. 2ths2.
peace and love to you and yours……….gene

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Yes this passage absolutely speaks to Jesus’s divine nature. I do not deny this passage.
I do deny that John chapter 1 teaches that Jesus pre-existed and did so as the Word. I do not deny at all that this chapter and not just verse 14 teaches us of Jesus’s divinity.

Me
If you didn’t deny the divinity of Christ (named THE WORD IN JOHN 1) YOU WOULD BELIEVE HE PRE-EXISTED (verse 1) AND THAT HE IS THE CREATOR OF ALL THINGS (verse 3)

JodiParticipantTo Danny and All,
Deut. 18:18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him. 19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
Luke 22:69 Hereafter shall the Son of man sit on the right hand of the power of God. 70 Then said they all, Art thou then the Son of God? And he said unto them, Ye say that I am. 71 And they said, What need we any further witness? for we ourselves have heard of his own mouth.
When John wrote his book, Jesus had already ascended to heaven according to the Word, he was the Son of Man who had been exalted to sit at God’s right hand.
Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began; 3 But hath in due times manifested his word through preaching, which is committed unto me according to the commandment of God our Saviour;
1 Peter 1:3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Romans 8:11 But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.
1 Corinthians 15:23 But every man in his own order: Christ the firstfruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at his coming.
When John wrote his book, Jesus had already been raised unto eternal life, where his resurrection was hope for our own resurrection. As Jesus was the Word of eternal life made true in him it caused many to believe that the Word was true as well for them.
1 John 1:1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life; 2 (For the life was manifested, and we have seen it, and bear witness, and shew unto you that eternal life, which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us;) 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.
Luke 24:39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me, and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 40 And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them his hands and his feet. 41 And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said unto them, Have ye here any meat? 42 And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish, and of an honeycomb. 43 And he took it, and did eat before them. 44 And he said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me. 45 Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures, 46 And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: 47 And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
Isaiah 11:8 And the sucking child shall play on the hole of the asp, and the weaned child shall put his hand on the cockatrice’ den. 9 They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain: for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea. 10 And in that day there shall be a root of Jesse, which shall stand for an ensign of the people; to it shall the Gentiles seek: and his rest shall be glorious. 11 And it shall come to pass in that day, that the Lord shall set his hand again the second time to recover the remnant of his people,
Ezekiel 36:26 A new heart also will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you: and I will take away the stony heart out of your flesh, and I will give you an heart of flesh. 27 And I will put my Spirit within you, and cause you to walk in my statutes, and ye shall keep my judgments, and do them. 28 And ye shall dwell in the land that I gave to your fathers; and ye shall be my people, and I will be your God 37:12 Therefore prophesy and say unto them, Thus saith the Lord GOD; Behold, O my people, I will open your graves, and cause you to come up out of your graves, and bring you into the land of Israel. 13 And ye shall know that I am the LORD, when I have opened your graves, O my people, and brought you up out of your graves, 14 And shall put my Spirit in you, and ye shall live, and I shall place you in your own land: then shall ye know that I the LORD have spoken it, and performed it, saith the LORD. 15 The word of the LORD came again unto me, saying,
Psalm 89:15 Blessed is the people that know the joyful sound: they shall walk, O LORD, in the light of thy countenance. 16 In thy name shall they rejoice all the day: and in thy righteousness shall they be exalted… 19 Then thou spakest in vision to thy holy one, and saidst, I have laid help upon one that is mighty; I have exalted one chosen out of the people. 20 I have found David my servant; with my holy oil have I anointed him: 21 With whom my hand shall be established: mine arm also shall strengthen him. 22 The enemy shall not exact upon him; nor the son of wickedness afflict him. 23 And I will beat down his foes before his face, and plague them that hate him. 24 But my faithfulness and my mercy shall be with him: and in my name shall his horn be exalted. 25 I will set his hand also in the sea, and his right hand in the rivers. 26 He shall cry unto me, Thou art my father, my God, and the rock of my salvation. 27 Also I will make him my firstborn, higher than the kings of the earth. 28 My mercy will I keep for him for evermore, and my covenant shall stand fast with him. 29 His seed also will I make to endure for ever, and his throne as the days of heaven.
Isaiah 46:10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: 11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it. 12 Hearken unto me, ye stouthearted, that are far from righteousness: 13 I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.
When John wrote his book HE KNEW THE WORD OF THE LORD and HE KNEW that Jesus was the firstborn of many of THAT WORD that was from the beginning, THE PROMISE of righteousness and Eternal Life. John understood and believed in what the resurrected Jesus taught him according to Moses, the prophets, and Psalms.
In John chapter 1 John is speaking according to the very understanding Jesus taught him that was according to the Word of YHVH throughout the OT.
John is not teaching that Jesus pre-existed as the Word.
John is teaching that the Word from the beginning was righteousness unto eternal life, which was with the Father according to a promise to be given, and is the Father for the Father is righteousness and life. John is teaching that the Word from the beginning was made true in Jesus and that through him others are partakers of the Word as well.

JodiParticipantTo All,
John 1:1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
Titus 1:2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;
Ephesians 5:9 (For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth)
John 10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
Matthew 19:17 And he said unto him,Why callest thou me good? there is none good but one, that is, God: but if thou wilt enter into life, keep the commandments.
How does one keep the commandments –they must receive the Spirit of God to be able to walk in all his ways (Ezekiel 36)
Romans 14:17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.
1 Cor 1:30 But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:
Gal 5:5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
2 Peter 3:13 Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.
Through the anointing of the Spirit, it coming to abode within you, we see that it is by that Spirit that one has righteousness and thus eternal life.
1 John 1:9 Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. 10 In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother.
Isaiah 42:1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my Spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. …6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles;
The Word in the beginning was righteousness unto eternal life. YHVH our one God the Father by His Spirit righteousness unto eternal life is with Him and thus is Him.
Jesus is not the Word of John 1:1 where that word represents he who spoke heaven and earth into existence and is God.
John is teaching what Jesus brought him to understand that was according to Moses, the prophets, and the Psalms. Prophecy where YHVH says he created heaven and earth all by Himself, where He says it was His utterance. Jesus taught John Isaiah’s words making him understand that he was the man whom God would call to righteousness, that he was the man who God declared from the beginning would come and be for a light. Jesus taught John that he was the son of David who God promised He would be a Father to and not take His mercy away from him but settle Him into His eternal house and crown him with the glory of an eternal kingdom.
John 1:2 The same was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made by (dia-by re ason of) him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men. 5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not. 6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe. 8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light. 9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by (dia-by reason of) him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Isaiah 46: 10 Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times the things that are not yet done, saying, My counsel shall stand, and I will do all my pleasure: 11 Calling a ravenous bird from the east, the man that executeth my counsel from a far country: yea, I have spoken it, I will also bring it to pass; I have purposed it, I will also do it. 12 Hearken unto me, ye stouthearted, that are far from righteousness: 13 I bring near my righteousness; it shall not be far off, and my salvation shall not tarry: and I will place salvation in Zion for Israel my glory.
Isaiah 42: 1 Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my Spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgment to the Gentiles. 2 He shall not cry, nor lift up, nor cause his voice to be heard in the street. 3 A bruised reed shall he not break, and the smoking flax shall he not quench: he shall bring forth judgment unto truth. 4 He shall not fail nor be discouraged, till he have set judgment in the earth: and the isles shall wait for his law. 5 Thus saith God the LORD, he that created the heavens, and stretched them out; he that spread forth the earth, and that which cometh out of it; he that giveth breath unto the people upon it, and spirit to them that walk therein: 6 I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thine hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; 7 To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison house. 8 I am the LORD: that is my name: and my glory will I not give to another, neither my praise to graven images.
Isaiah 53: 1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed? 2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him. 3 He is despised and rejected of men; a man of sorrows, and acquainted with grief: and we hid as it were our faces from him; he was despised, and we esteemed him not.
There is no pre-existing Jesus. The WORD from the beginning along with a promise of righteousness unto eternal life was that of a man who would one day come and be anointed with God’s Spirit, a calling to righteousness where he would be for a LIGHT and his own people would reject him. The very LORD who created heaven and earth and made man giving him a spirit to walk therein placed His Spirit upon this man for the purpose of him to be a light that shines in the darkness.
Making Jesus into the Word of John 1:1 creates a FALSE IMAGE of not only our ONE GOD THE FATHER but likewise His Son.

JodiParticipantHi Berean,
I care about what the WORD OF GOD ACTUALLY SAYS!
Our one God the Father IS OUR SAVIOR and He saved us through anointing the HUMAN BEING Jesus of Nazareth and sending him out into the world where he would be persecuted unto death for delivering YHVH’s WORD that people found to be blasphemous and threatening.
Isaiah 46 directly tells you that from the beginning a MAN would execute YHVH’s plan for His creation and bring forth righteousness. You are told in Acts that by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God the human being Jesus was crucified.
BIBLICAL FACT is that a HUMAN was promised to come to be a savior, a HUMAN specifically of David’s seed to whom YHVH promised He would be a Father to and settle him into His house. A HUMAN of the seed of David did come and that HUMAN was raised from the dead and received the promised Holy Spirit and the sure mercies of his father David. He appeared to many teaching about himself ACCORDING TO MOSES, THE PROPHETS AND THE PSALMS so that they would have understanding. You are told that it is a SON OF A HUMAN that ascended to heaven to sit at YHVH’s right hand. You are told that its a HUMAN returning to earth who will sit on his father David’s throne ACCORDING TO THE FLESH where he is a firstborn of many brethren. You are told that YHVH is going to give us a new heart OF FLESH and place His Spirit upon us and cause us to walk in all His ways, such makes us into the image of the Son who lives in the image of our Father. By such we are then truly heirs of God , JOINT HEIRS with he who was anointed of YVH’s Spirit!!!!!

Why is it that when asked to discuss certain specific scriptures you REFUSE?
Why is it that when asked to clarify your own understanding you DON’T RESPOND? …or did I miss you giving your explanation as to the definition of the divine nature and the definition of the Holy Spirit?
Can you use scripture to produce those definitions?
Can you explain why if Jesus had to be a pre-existing being in order to save us why then would he say that he could do nothing of himself where he gave ALL CREDIT to the Father?

Me
In His humanity JESUS was like us,
He could not and would not do anything without the Father ….
HE COULDN’T DO ANYTHING …
I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
HE WANTED TO DO ONLY THE WILL OF GOD ….
