Hi Adam,
There are no two Gods (YHWH vs EL)
YHWH is God!It was shown to you so that you might know that Yahweh is God.
There is no one else besides him. Deuteronomy 4:35Know therefore today, and take it to heart, that Yahweh himself is God
in heaven above and on the earth beneath.
There is no one else. Deuteronomy 4:39God bless

Mike…..I also agree with LU, IF David meant god’s, the Greek word “theos” would have been used there.
Mike, the question is do you “truly”, believe what Jesus said, “this is eternal life, that they might know “YOU” , the “ONLY” “TRUE” God”…….Why would Jesus use the word “only” , if there were other “true” God’s, common sense questi…[Read more]

Hi to all
Daily Devotional
Concert for a dead man
An Amazing Fact: One stormy night in 1910, a group of traveling musicians arrived at the city of Riga, on the Baltic Sea, to fulfill a concert engagement. The weather was so bad, however, that the conductor of the orchestra tried to persuade the manager of the hall to cancel the concert. He…[Read more]

If David meant “gods” then the Greek would have been “theos.”
It seems to me that David meant angels in general.

Mike,
This is what I said:
I believe that the Father gives the vision and the Son does what He has seen in the vision. The Son formed man. All things are made by the only begotten God, apart from the only begotten God, nothing has been made that has been made. John 1:3, even the heavens and the earth ;).
The Father gives the vision, the Son…[Read more]

Kathi, you said very recently that the Father said the words of Gen 1:26, and Jesus is the one who actually created man. Are you trying to double-talk your way out of that now?
And yes, many scriptures say God (as in the Father) created all things THROUGH Jesus. (John 1:3, Heb 1:2, Col 1:16)
There are also many other scriptures that make it…[Read more]

The Greek “aggelos”, like the Hebrew “malak”, means messenger. When the messenger in question is deemed to be a spirit being by English translators, many of them use the English word angel – which is not in any Biblical text. There is no such Hebrew or Greek word that designates a spirit messenger of God, like the English word angel does.
In both…[Read more]

Mike,
You said YOU say that Jesus is the one who actually did the creative work.
The Father created through Jesus. The Father provided the vision and anything needed (whatever that would have been) and the Son took what He was given and brought the vision into reality, as I understand it. So neither person created independently of the other, both…[Read more]

Look at Heb 2:9 in the interlinear and you will see that David was talking about the “angelous” (strongs #32) often translated as angels but not translated as “gods.”
mikeboll64 replied to the topic The Many Gods of the Bible in the forum Scriptural Teachings 4 years, 1 month ago
Okay Kathi, but if not “all spirit sons of God”, then which particular spirit sons of God was David talking about when he said, “You have made mankind a little lower than the gods”?
Was mankind made a little lower than some of the “angels”, but higher than others? I don’t get it. Which of these gods, exactly, was David talking about if not a…[Read more]

LU: Mike,
I just have a tiny amount of time to spend here due to my college work and family time. I might have more time for a dedicated thread after the semester, middle of May.
👍🙂

Mike, Off the top of my head, Hebrews 1 and 2 has reference to this and I have always understood that as angels. I do not agree that all spirit sons of God are considered as, and explicitly called gods in scripture.

Berean: Mike
It can be one of three possibilities.
Wow. Why is this subject always like pulling teeth? What are people so afraid of?
Okay Berean, let’s try all three of the possibilities listed by your source, since you won’t commit to one of them…
Psalm 8:5… You have made mankind a little lower than the gods…
1. The idols of the he…[Read more]

The DEFINITION of elohim is god/gods, Kathi. Your memory is correct that the word is applied to what we in English call “angels”. The writers of scripture didn’t ever call them “angels”. They called them messengers, gods, sons of God, spirits, and demons. In Ephesians 6:12, Paul calls them “the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly rea…[Read more]

Okay.

The only begotten God is also The only begotten Son. He is not in the category of the other “sons of God.” It is possible that the other sons of God that were made through Jesus are considered gods in some sense. From what I remember, the word “elohim” has more than one definition which could include supernatural beings like angels. I don’t have…[Read more]

Mike,
I will address this one: WHY is Moses under the impression that our Creator is the Father – a single male entity?
The Arm/Word of the LORD “Jesus” was not revealed yet as Jesus. The Father created and acted upon creation through Jesus, His “arm/Word.”

Gene, you are taking the branch from one story and placing it into a completely different story. Stay in context and you will see that the vine is distinct from the branches. The vine supplies the branches so they can bear fruit. If they, someone other than the vine, does not bear fruit, it gets cut off and burnt. Jesus is the vine that supplies…[Read more]
