Hi Jodi,
But as many as received him He gave the right to become children of God.[Jn1]
Those who believe in his name are born not of flesh nor of blood nor of the will of man but of God[Jn1]You cannot receive him unless you hear of him and that message is the gospel.
How will they hear unless a preacher is sent?February 9, 2010 at 10:38 pm#176782NickHassanParticipantHi,
The human fleshly vessel is a home for 'sin in the flesh', even those like Paul who have been enlivened by God.[Rom7]Whoever dies is freed from such sin[Rom6.7] as the flesh belongs to earth and returns to it.

Quote Romans 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. The reason that I am asking is that I don't believe that sin “is aroused by the law” but it is by the law that we know that we have sinned.
Love in Christ,
Marty
Hi Marty,It was the New King James version. I find the whole chapter quite interesting.
Romans 7:1 Or do you not know, brethren (for I speak to those who know the law), that the law has dominion over a man as long as he lives? 2 For the woman who has a husband is bound by the law to her husband as long as he lives. But if the husband dies, she is released from the law of her husband. 3 So then if, while her husband lives, she marries another man, she will be called an adulteress; but if her husband dies, she is free from that law, so that she is no adulteress, though she has married another man. 4 Therefore, my brethren, you also have become dead to the law through the body of Christ, that you may be married to another–to Him who was raised from the dead, that we should bear fruit to God. 5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death. 6 But now we have been delivered from the law, having died to what we were held by, so that we should serve in the newness of the Spirit and not in the oldness of the letter. 7 What shall we say then? Is the law sin? Certainly not! On the contrary, I would not have known sin except through the law. For I would not have known covetousness unless the law had said, “You shall not covet.” 8 But sin, taking opportunity by the commandment, produced in me all manner of evil desire. For apart from the law sin was dead. 9 I was alive once without the law, but when the commandment came, sin revived and I died. 10 And the commandment, which was to bring life, I found to bring death. 11 For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it killed me. 12 Therefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy and just and good. 13 Has then what is good become death to me? Certainly not! But sin, that it might appear sin, was producing death in me through what is good, so that sin through the commandment might become exceedingly sinful. 14 For we know that the law is spiritual, but I am carnal, sold under sin. 15 For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. 16 If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. 17 But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 18 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. 19 For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. 20 Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. 21 I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. 22 For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. 23 But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. 24 O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? 25 I thank God–through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.
February 10, 2010 at 7:35 am#176850NickHassanParticipantHi Jodi,
Yes sin dwelled in him.
He was not that sin and it had nothing to do with his actions.Man is a vessel.
Paul was given a thorn in the flesh to keep him humble and only death could free him.June 9, 2010 at 10:02 pm#194941NickHassanParticipantHi,
At death the spirit returns to God[Ecc12]
But those reborn from above still have the abiding Spirit when they die.
That is why Jesus said some standing with him would never die and why Abraham, Isaac and Jacob are still alive to God.At the return of Jesus the Spirit in his body is naturally reunited with the head as all in him are raised by that one Spirit.
June 9, 2010 at 11:49 pm#194965GeneBalthropParticipantNick………Where does this Spirit (ABIDE) at, is it in the grave or floating around some where, where exactly is it. We are told (NONE) HAS RISEN, Only Jesus was raised from the dead. Where did Jesus say some standing Here would never die? I know where He said some standing Here would not see death (TILL) they see the son of Man coming the glory of His kingdom. The next day he took them to see it in the mountain of transfiguration. As far as Abraham and Isaac, and Jacob, they are in the BOSOM which means the HEART of GOD, and seeing that GOD is our Life, them they in (THAT) sense are still alive. You are contradicting scriptures that say (ALL HAVE DIED BECAUSE ALL HAVE SINNED) and where it say (NONE) HAS RISEN EXCEPT JESUS. Nick people are not alive after they die, they are dead period. IMO

June 9, 2010 at 11:58 pm#194968GeneBalthropParticipantTO ALL………..Jodi is correct in what she has posted , there is (NO) Satan BEING as Such, Human Beings are there Own SATANS and DEVILS, and it is Human beings that rule this earth and have the power over it. They are the Prince of the Power of the air, the one sitting in High places controlling this earth. Not some spook going around jumping in and out of people who we can all blame all the evil deeds and desires of Man on. No it is Man Himself who is the blame and no one else and this is the same in each of our lives also. Man must overcome his own self as Jesus overcame HIMSELF.
Good Post Jodi……………..Peace and love to you and yours………………..gene

I love this scripture in Ecclesiastes 12.6f
” Remember him before the silver cord is broken
and the golden bowl is crushed,
the pitcher by the well is shattered
And the wheel at the cistern is crushed;
then the dust will return to the earth as it was
and the spirit will return to God who gave it”There is a lot of beauty hidden here. Who can enlighten us?
Nick,Who can enlighten?
There was a former high caste Hindu that became a Christian.
In his reading of scriptures, and comparing it to his own culture, he found that he could easily relate to many scriptures that Western minds had difficulty understanding.
The Western mind did not understand because Eastern customs are the back drop for scriptures.
The Bible is a book written in the backdrop of Eastern culture.
This man, Bishop KC Pillai saw the need for the Western mind to learn the customs alluded to in scripture, if the Western reader was to more completely comprehend scripture. or for that matter to have any clue what some scriptures were talking about.
He passed away decades ago.
One of his books, “Light through an Eastern Window” explains the Eastern customs of that section of scripture.
There is more here than I am willing to type. See if you find the book, it is a small book but very useful.

Of course there are other scholars who have looked into the same need and have come up with useful books.Freeman is one of them.

There is no satan
So being there is no deceiver, then there must not be no GOD either.
You are both way off the path.
Come back to the truth, for time is so very shortMarlin

Deception is certainly popular.April 22, 2012 at 1:25 am#294038Marlin1ParticipantHi Ed J,
If you check, I didn't say our time. I agree with you time is short, and since most are deceived according to scripture then time is short for most. For broad is the gate that leads to death and most will find that gate.

Satan has a dim future [Not much over 1000 years]but so do his angels and the goats of matt 25.31fApril 22, 2012 at 3:56 pm#294182Marlin1ParticipantHi all,
It truly saddens me, when I read of so much confusion over the Godhead. Do all realize that Jesus said that upon the revelation of the Godhead (who He is), He would build His church. Mat 16.
Some believe that He, (Jesus), is a little god that emptied Himself and came to earth.
Some believe He, (Jesus), is the 2nd person of the Godhead.
Some believe He, (Jesus), was born the Christ,(the anointed), the only begotten Son of God.
Some believe He, (Jesus), ?? (if I left someone out.)
I say this, according to Mat 16, without the true revelation of who He, (Jesus), is, you will never receive the baptism of the Holy Ghost.
God is not a God of confusion, that is man's realm and man's alone.
As hard as each of you try, you can not teach the Godhead. Do you know why? It is because Jesus said Mat 16:17 that it wasn't taught, but revealed. From the very beginning it has been revelation, How did Abel make a better sacrifice then Cain, because it was revealed to him, the truth of the 1st sin was blood, and it wasn't to Cain, who brought fruit.
I believe that God is Just and will reveal to every person that will come to Him with all their hearts, the truth of the Godhead. For that is the beginning, first and most important revelation from God. His church is built upon it and it alone.
God bless each of you in your search.
