Mike, you say:Quote Christ can do nothing on his own, Kathi. Any power he has comes from his God – the same as any power Pilate had, or any power any of us have.Kathi, God is greater than His servant, Jesus. If you want to think God is greater in all ways except for power, then go ahead and think it.I believe you misunderstand this verse:John 5…[Read more]

Quote (mikeboll64 @ April 04 2012,16:53)Kathi, verse 24 is not saying that Christ IS literally God's very power and wisdom.Read verse 30 for a better understanding of verse 24.I believe the teaching is that we shouldn't care who thinks us weak or fools, because through Christ, we have all the power and wisdom of God Himself on our side.Prov…[Read more]

Mike, you said:Quote And while it doesn't say “power” in the verse, the “snatching” reference surely implies it. John 10:25Jesus answered them, “I told you, and you do not believe; the works that I do in My Father’s name, these testify of Me. 26“But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep. 27“My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, a…[Read more]

Here is an extra-Biblical account saying that the Roman census tells of a Dec. 25th birth:The extrabiblical evidenceSt. John Chrysostom (347-407 A.D.), whose status in eastern Orthodoxy is comparable to that of Augustine in western Roman Catholicism, argued strongly for a Dec. 25 birthdate because of the course of Zacharias’ priestly service. It is interesting that here, most want the church to be wrong about Christmas. What I have shown here is:1. Zacharias served in the temple in the fall as well as the Spring and Elisabeth could have been six months pregnant around March 25th.2. The Dec. 25th date was arrived at aside from the sun god and before Constantine came along.3. Shephards…[Read more]

Hippolytus acknowledges Dec. 25th as the birthday of Christ:Hippolytus in his Commentary on Daniel 4.23.3 says: For the first advent of our Lord in the flesh, when he was born in Bethlehem, eight days before the kalends of January , the 4th day of the week , while Augustus was in his forty-second year, but from Adam five thousand and five…[Read more]

More info:Aurelian strengthened the position of the Sun god, Sol (Invictus) or Oriens, as the main divinity of the Roman pantheon. His intention was to give to all the peoples of the Empire, civilian or soldiers, easterners or westerners, a single god they could believe in without betraying their own gods. The center of the cult was a new temple,…[Read more]

Some info here:Of course, the date of Christmas is not particularly important in the origins of Christianity, and has no bearing on Christian theology. It is worth noting, however, that the feast of the birthday of the sun, while definitely Pagan, wasn't pre-Christian. It was only established in 274 CE by the emperor Aurelian (Hutton, p. 1). Nick,The Son is the power and wisdom of God, He is the arm of Jehovah. If the Son IS the power and wisdom of God, how is it that you say that the power of God is greater than the Son?Mike,I looked at your scriptures, they say nothing about power.

Nick and Mike,The Father and the Son are inseparable. Nothing has power over the Father and the Son. The Father doesn't have power over the Son, He has power with the Son and visa versa. The are one in unity.
