Terricca………..John 14:16……and I will pray the Father and he shall give you another comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; even the spirit of truth whom the world cannot recieve, because it sees him not, neither knows him: but you know him; for he dwells with you, and shall be “IN” you.
Peace and love to you and yours………………………………gene

If Christ received the holy spirit it seems only to drive him into the desert where he would be tested, at the end of his 40 days
So the holy spirit has sustained him for those 40 days right , because Christ had the holy spirit sins birth , right but the holy spirit does not stay on a constant base , he is given as needed by the father right?
Matthew 4:1New International Version (NIV)
Jesus Is Tested in the Wilderness4 Then Jesus was led by the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted[a] by the devil.
Footnotes:Matthew 4:1 The Greek for tempted can also mean tested.
Luke 4:1-2New International Version (NIV)
4 Jesus, full of the Holy Spirit, left the Jordan and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, 2 where for forty days he was tempted[a] by the devil. He ate nothing during those days, and at the end of them he was hungry.
Footnotes:Luke 4:2 The Greek for tempted can also mean tested.
Mark 1:12-13New International Version (NIV)
12 At once the Spirit sent him out into the wilderness, 13 and he was in the wilderness forty days, being tempted[a] by Satan. He was with the wild animals, and angels attended him.
Footnotes:Mark 1:13 The Greek for tempted can also mean tested.
I see a difference between led and driven but the bottom line is due to the Spirit he entered the desert and went without food 1 day for every year the Israelites wandered between Egypt and Israel. Fourty is a number that comes up in Scripture other times.
I do not believe the Spirit sustained him by making it so he did not need food. That would remove the power of the first temptation as it would not have been an opportune time. Going without food for a lengthy time is know though extremely rare.

‘Their god is their stomachs’
As a man Jesus was shown food and other things men naturally depend on are superfluous when God enables.
August 26, 2014 at 7:00 am#738204kerwinParticipantNick,
There God may or may not be their stomach as I have too information to venture a solid opinion. I know Jesus was led/driven to go without food in the wilderness forty days as a man is led/driven by his love to do what is righteous. My point is that the first temptation would have been stronger if the Spirit was not doing something that substituted for the bodies need of food. Scripture does not say one way or another but I find my opinion more beneficial to my faith.

YES, AND TRUE ABOUT TO SUSTAIN HIM WAS NOT FOR PHYSICAL FOOD , FOR THE HOLY SPIRIT IS NOT GIVEN FOR THE FLESH ,BUT FOR THE SPIRIT OF THE TRUTH IN US ;
ABOUT THE FORTY DAYS = FORTY YEARS IN THE DESERT ” VAGUE” WE COULD TAKE DIFFERENT ANALOGY FROM MANY THINGS IN SCRIPTURES ,BUT IT IS TO FIND THE TRUE ONE THAT AS TO BE THE ONE WE FIND

Hi T,
No so wrong.
Needed so as to to be driven into the desert?
Spare me.
God needs His Spirit so gives and takes it??
You have no idea
How small is your god?
I HAVE NEVER ANYTHING RIGHT ,IN YOUR VIEW ,SO ?

I KNOW THOSE SCRIPTURES BUT IT SEEM YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND THAT THE COMFORTER THAT WAS SEND TO THE DISCIPLES HAD A CUT OUT TASK JUST LIKE ALL THE OTHER TIME HE WAS SEND ,
GOD DOES NOT DO THINGS FOR NO REASON,IF THE TRUTH ABIDE IN YOU THEN WOULD THAT NOT MEAN THAT THE HOLY SPIRIT OF TRUTH LIVES IN YOU ?

Yes, I currently see it as more of an association than a link.

And the Spirit enabled him to walk on water.
The flesh contributes nothing
August 26, 2014 at 7:48 am#738217kerwinParticipantNick,
Yes, and he could have leaped of a tall building and walked on air fir angels would hold him up. He chose not to do that at Satan’s prompting.

Jesus has a new incorruptible body and we follow him.August 27, 2014 at 3:47 am#738629GeneBalthropParticipantNick……….I agree with that, but a “BODY” none the less. I do not know if it is a new body , because scripture says his body never saw corruption in the grave. Once our mortal bodies have put on incorruption I believe they can live forever just as they are. imo

His body did not see corruption to fulfill prophecy.
But it was still torn and damaged till he was taken up.
Do you hope to inherit such a fleshly body or will you be differenT
August 27, 2014 at 2:17 pm#738822kerwinParticipantTo each of you that is concerned with the truth,
In conclusion Scripture states that that the body Jesus was raised in was made of flesh and bone. It does not state that his body ever changed to being composed of anything else. Those that believe his body changed are following a doctrine based on logical reasoning and what they believe as least one other passage means.
August 27, 2014 at 4:19 pm#738877NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Do you expect a new body?
Will you be different to Jesus in his old one?
“we know that when he comes we shall be alike to him”

Hi KW,

“we know that when he comes we shall be alike to him”
I was stating a fact and not an interpretation or an opinion. That fact is that there is nothing written of Jesus’ body changing after said his resurrected body was composed of flesh and bone. It is a tradition that it changed and those hold to that tradition believe that information is derived from one or more Scriptures.
You are asking me a question that has no real bearing on what I said.
I expect that I will be buried in a mortal body and arise in a immortal body just like what happened to Christ. Unlike some I do agree with those who hold Jesus was resurrected in the same way Lazarus was resurrected. Lazarus do not rise in a new body as will happen with The Resurrection.
August 27, 2014 at 6:38 pm#738934NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
The fact was that he was raised in his damaged earthly body.
Will you be like him?
