Jesus is a prototype of what GOD CAN DO FOR ALL HUMANITY, “that God may be “in” all and “through” all”. Jesus never preexisted his berth on this earth, no more then JOHN the baptist, Moses, any of the prophets or men GOD THE Father used who were before him.

We in the USA have a term called “President Elect”
this refers to the President BEFORE he is the President.

God had elected Jesus to be “The Christ” before he was even born. That is why the Angel declares:
“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord” (Luke 2:11)

AND THE SCRIPTURE CANNOT BE BROKEN

Jesus’ spirit is called “Christ” even before Jesus is born.

what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it
testified beforehand the sufferings of Christ, and the glory that should follow.” (1Peter 1:10-11)

The spirit of Christ *WAS* in the Prophets.

This is the SPIRIT that gave light to the prophets and led Jesus from the Jordan.

Prophets like John recognised the one chosen for this appointed role

 

Of course it is not the human spirit that left the man Jesus at calvary.

So CHRIST means anointed or anointing.

Just because the infant Jesus is known by the prophetic Spirit as the Christ does not prove he has already been anointed.

Such are the ways of prophecy that sees the future as the present.

Scripture says so.

But you prefer the idea of the anointing happening at another time?

EDJ……Look at the exact wording of the Angel Gabriel, notice how he says “therefore or as a result, that “thing” which is in you “shall” be called the son OF God. That is all given in a future sense, and he ovesely did not KNOW Jesus from the past or he would not have said, “that thing” which is in you”. He would have simply mentioned him by name if he already know him.

Your argument that Jesus received the Spirit and the Jordan implies he did not have it to live by previous to the Jordon.

If he did not have the Spirit then he could not walk by it and only had the flesh to walk according to. Those that walk according to the flesh are servants of sin.

Jesus was never a servant of sin as he did not sin though tempted as is common to humanity.

Your understanding of Scripture breaks from the literal meaning of Scripture. A dilemma you have not resolved or perhaps even acknowledged.

The Spirit of Christ is not Jesus Christ. It is not person in any way of form but instead has many roles one of which is as a “the activating or essential principle influencing a person” as one definition at Merriam-Webster’s online dictionary said but God’s Spirit is more than that as it communicates his word to and through a prophet, teacher, or other. It also does other things. God chose to give his Spirit the name of Christ and so put Jesus’ name above every other name.

Jesus was brought up and disciplined by his Father according to the commandments of the law.

He proved that is was possible for a man to remain sinless by the way appointed to the Jews.

He justified the Law and then that schoolmaster was put aside for him and us.

Then he was anointed from above with the Holy Spirit and power.
