Marty,
John 3:18 and 1 John 5:-12 are just like John 12:47-50 because if you have never heard of Jesus Christ you can neither believe or not believe in him.
As for the statement that no man can come to the Father except through Jesus it may not even be speaking of salvation since those that live by the Spirit are reconciled to God by living by the Spirit.
Never the less we are taught that those men of God whom were before Jesus Christ would only be made perfect with those whom received the Advocate. (Hebrews 11:40)
Luke 12:45-48 I agree that it is less severe but not that they would inherit the kingdom of God. It does serve to demonstrate God considers migrating circumstances.
I will point that Abraham was not under the new covenant and so could not obey Jesus’ teachings.

Hi KW,
The word that is preached does not depend of the abilities of the preacher.
The word is the power of God to save men.
What are those that believe the word saved from?
Matthew 1:21Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
21 And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins.
Ephesians 2:5Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
5 even when we were dead in sins, hath quickened us together with Christ, (by grace ye are saved;)

August 17, 2015 at 6:04 pm#802230MiiaParticipantHi Marty. Did you know you are sounding divided on the issue….. Warm not hot, better hot not warm.
Hi Kerwin. You are getting too theological for me, sorry.
This is in reply to your two posts a few days ago.

August 18, 2015 at 1:34 am#802237Ed JParticipantNick, would you say that constitutes as a valid water baptism?
Hi ED,
Forget your doubts.
believe.
Hi Nick,
I take it that is a “yes”
August 18, 2015 at 6:32 am#802238NickHassanParticipantHi Ed,
If you have followed your conscience why would the opinion of others matter?
August 18, 2015 at 8:50 am#802241kerwinParticipantNick,
Romans 1:16Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.
It does not specify what the Jews and Gentiles are being saved from.
Sometimes it does mean saved from destruction but not always. For instance Jesus tells his students “he that endures to the end will be saved”. (Matthew 10:22, 24:13, and Mark 13:13) Other times it is not as he also mentions “the Son comes to seek and to save that which was lost”(Luke 19:10 and Matthew 18:11).

Hi Kerwin. You are getting too theological for me, sorry.
The instruction to repent and immerse yourself in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins and you will receive the Holy Spirit is a new covenant(contract) teaching.
The thief on the cross was in the old covenant(contract).
The terms of the new contract do not apply to those that have not signed it.
Those words should not be too theological for you.
August 18, 2015 at 10:31 am#802253NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
So which contract is signed for you?

Thank you Nick, but it was your opinion that I was concerning myself with
August 18, 2015 at 1:42 pm#802256NickHassanParticipantHi Ed,
Doubt is the worst enemy we face.
Robs us of the power that comes from faith.
August 18, 2015 at 2:15 pm#802259kerwinParticipantNick,
So which contract is signed for you?
That is understood based on your need to know.
Jesus instructs to judge others by their fruit.
August 18, 2015 at 3:10 pm#802261NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
You told us you had become a Jew so the question seems reasonable.
August 19, 2015 at 6:52 am#802273kerwinParticipantNick,
Do you know that the old covenant is a contract of the Jewish religion?
Do you know that Abraham, Isaac, and Abraham followed the Jewish religion but did not take part in the old covenant?
If you understand these things then why don’t you understand that Gentiles and Jews can both follow the Jewish religion and take part in the new covenant.
Even in the book of Acts you read of those Gentiles that followed the Jewish religion but did not take part in the old covenant.
Only Jews and those former Gentiles that were adopted by the Jewish people as their own were under the old covenant.
August 19, 2015 at 7:10 am#802274NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
So you are not a jew but follow the jewish religion?
Can the synagogue of satan save you?
August 19, 2015 at 8:30 am#802277942767ParticipantHi Kw:
I believe that I have already answered this in another thread, but to add to what I have stated, “all who have believed God and demonstrated their faith through obedience to His Word in the OT” will be born again when Jesus comes for the church. They were born of “living water”, “the Word of God”, and they will be born of “the Spirit” when they are raised from the dead by the Spirit of God.
No, they could not known him the way that we do, but the scripture states of Abraham:
John 8:
56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
He saw this by faith. He knew that God promised to make his seed as to number as the grains of sand or the multitude of stars calling his seed unto Himself through Isaac.
And those under the Law of Moses were expecting a Messiah, and they have the following Word of God:
Deut. 18
15 The Lord thy God will raise up unto thee a Prophet from the midst of thee, of thy brethren, like unto me; unto him ye shall hearken;
16 According to all that thou desiredst of the Lord thy God in Horeb in the day of the assembly, saying, Let me not hear again the voice of the Lord my God, neither let me see this great fire any more, that I die not.
17 And the Lord said unto me, They have well spoken that which they have spoken.
18 I will raise them up a Prophet from among their brethren, like unto thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak unto them all that I shall command him.
19 And it shall come to pass, that whosoever will not hearken unto my words which he shall speak in my name, I will require it of him.
In this NT era God will gather all of humanity unto Himself in one two bodies. The body of Christ or the body of Anti-Christ. No one can come to the Father except through Jesus, “that is the Word of God”.
Love in Christ,
