Nick,The passage refers to the Son of God and that is my point…the word is the Son of God. The passage tells us that it was the Son who laid out the earth and heavens in the beginning.

Mike,You could say that He was the firstborn of the creation of God and in that way He is the beginning of the creation of God. That would show you that there was a begettal and not a creative act. Adam wasn't considered a firstborn because he was a creative act.Kathi

Marlin,I didn't ask you if Jesus is the 2nd person of the trinity or if He is a little god. I just asked you if He pre-existed (His birth in Mary). You said that God spoke and the WORD came into being. Was the Word the begotten God who was with the begetter God in your understanding?Kathi

Nick,John 1:1c tells us that the Word was God, and God is spirit, not flesh, and God is a being so the Word is a spirit being. Those are all scriptural terms.

Cavedave,I was reading the above post of yours and was agreeing with you until you said that Jesus came in the natural and then the spiritual. I was wondering if you believe in the pre-existence of Jesus before His birth in Mary. Do you?Kathi
