Nick,
It is not I that says we can appoint some scripture as idiom
No but you are claiming that idiom is not used in Scripture and you not Scriptural support for your claim. My support that “flesh and blood” is an idiom based on an expert witness who testifies that is was an idiom used by Jews.

“Expert” witnesses are not comparable with the truth of scriptureSeptember 3, 2014 at 9:56 am#748162NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Will these experts support you when you face the judge?
We should not take away from scriptureSeptember 3, 2014 at 9:57 am#748163kerwinParticipantNick,
Hi KW,
The immortal is put over the mortal.
We are changedAccording to that passage, 1 Corinthians 15:43-44, the mortal flesh and blood puts on immortality so it is no longer mortal.

You claim you say what scripture says?
Yet you diminish the words of scripture to mere idiom.By Whose authority?

Hi KW,

We should not take away from scriptureI won’t need them as God know the the truth and I seek it.
You are asking the wrong question. The question is whether the information the expert provides is from God or from the devil and my answer is the Spirit knows.

You have said that before and it sounds just as silly as it has before. That is an accusation, an attack on the person, and not an answer using reason.

I believe Ps 49.14f is speaking of the body rotting in the grave. I am not sure as it seems to be speaking of the wicked.

Test the spirits.Yes, but I only test for the truth and not whether the expert is appointed by God.

Compare scripture with scripture.
Men addle the word.flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom.
September 3, 2014 at 10:33 am#748201kerwinParticipantNick,
See post #748156.
In that post I address Paul’s words when he states ‘if this body is destroyed…’ Why do you think he said “if”?
September 3, 2014 at 10:36 am#748202kerwinParticipantNick,

You are a man and therefore according to your statement you addle the word so why would I believe your private interpretation?
I listen to your words but it is the Spirit that teaches.

Thanks
“5 For we know that if our earthly house, the tent we live in, is dismantled, we have a building from God, a house not built by human hands, that is eternal in the heavens.”In Christ Jesus is security whether we live or die.
The body that houses us now will be replaced with a better one and we will not be naked -unlike those of ps 49September 3, 2014 at 2:27 pm#748272kerwinParticipantNick,
My point is that Paul chose the word “if” as opposed to “when”. The difference is that with “if” there is possibility the body will not be destroyed.

I am saying you accuse yourself as I am not necessary agreeing with your words.
I listen to your words but it is the Spirit that teaches.
By this statement I intended to imply that I disagree with your words as I stated I listen to your words and seek to agree with those the Spirit say are true but not with those it lets me know are false.

IF is an equally suitable word.
It does not imply uncertainty IMO but shows it is not too much of an issue either way.
Not all die

You claim to be guided by the Spirit but turn to experts and linguistics when challenged.
