    Quote
    Good News Translation (GNT)

14 The Word became a human being and, full of grace and truth, lived among us. We saw his glory, the glory which he received as the Father's only Son.

    now answer my question
    what did john said??

did he say the word is the son of GOD or the holy spirit?

In John 1:14 John teaches that believers see and participate in the results of seeing (see note) the glory that is like unto the glory of the only begotten of God.

Elsewhere it is written; “we have all sinned and fallen short of the glory of God”; Is that the same glory John is speaking of since the Word is God?

The Holy Spirit reveals the Word as it reveals the deep things of God, 1 Corinthians 2:10, and the Word is of God.

Sonship comes both by the Spirit and by the Word, Romans 8:15, Galatians 4:6, and 1 Peter 1:23.

The Word, Spirit, and Sonship are intimately associated.

Note 1:  saw has a middle voice in Ancient Greek; which means “means that the SUBJECT initiates the action and participates in the results of the action”, source.

    Hi,

    Jn 1.14
” and THE WORD was made flesh and dwelt among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the only begotten from the Father, full of grace and truth”

Jesus Christ is now the monogenes SON of God.
Sonship is by sharing the WORD that is begotten of God.

Everyone assumes SON should be in this verse.
    But it shouldn't.

    Hi T,
The WORD is of the SPIRIT.
Know Christ Jesus as SPIRIT by rebirth from above.

Now the Lord is the Spirit.

    Mike,

    Mark 13:20
    King James Version (KJV)

20And except that the Lord had shortened those days, no flesh should be saved: but for the elect's sake, whom he hath chosen, he hath shortened the days.

    And

    Matthew 24:22
    King James Version (KJV)

22And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect's sake those days shall be shortened.

So why speak of flesh being saved if flesh is not saved?

    John 3

8 The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit.”

It is written “By their fruits you will know them” and:

    Galatians 5
    King James Version (KJV)

22But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith,
23Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.

The wind; that is the Spirit is revealed by the fruit of those who walk according to it.

The fruits of the old man are corrupt in accordance with its deceitful lusts.

    Ephesians 4
    King James Version (KJV)

21If so be that ye have heard him, and have been taught by him, as the truth is in Jesus:
    22That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts;

The fruits of the reborn (new) man are righteous and holy like God’s.

    Ephesians 4
    King James Version (KJV)

    23And be renewed in the spirit of your mind;
24And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

The Gnostics taught that flesh is flawed and a trap for the spirit and used misinterpreted Scriptures to support it. Those in the church that listened to their teaching passed it on and changed it to suit their itching ears. You are just one in a long line of those that have done so.

    Hi KW,
Mt 24 and Mk 13 speak of the tribulation on earth.
    Mankind is flesh.

    Nick,

Are you claiming flesh is an idiom for human in some Scriptures?

And were they LITERALLY not in the flesh anymore, Ed?  Or was that a metaphorical way of speaking, like Peter saying they were “born anew”?

    Hi Mike,

“Be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind” (Rom.12:2)
“The carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject
to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” (Romans 8:7)

“Put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which
is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23 And be renewed
in the spirit of your mind; 24 And that ye put on the new man,
which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness. (Eph 4:22-24)

And out of the two choices I listed in my quote above, which one is the answer to these scriptures you quoted, Ed?

Did the human disciples of Jesus continue to consist of flesh until the day they died? Or did some of them change into invisible spirit beings before they died?

Nick, did Jesus LITERALLY return to God?  If so, then why not accept that he also LITERALLY came from God?

Did Jesus LITERALLY ascend to “where he was before”? If so, then why not accept that he also LITERALLY descended from there?

    Hi KW,
Some of creation is flesh and that includes men.
The great tribulation will be a fierce and difficult 3 and a half years.

Apparently, at the time of the great tribulation, some of God's elect are still flesh and blood human beings. (144,000 of them, according to Revelation)

But if these 144,000 consist of flesh at that time, then they have not yet been born again from above of water and spirit.

    Hi MB,
Are you unaware that those there at Pentecost received the baptism of the Spirit?

    Nick,

Are you unaware of the difference between a human being recieving the gift of God's Holy Spirit, and a human being being born again of water and spirit – thereby consisting of flesh no longer?

    Hi MB,
You have your own ideas being promoted here.
Rebirth of water and the Spirit does not change men from flesh beings to some other variety.

Flesh gives birth to flesh, Nick. To enter the Kingdom of God, you will have to be born again of water and spirit, thereby no longer consisting of flesh. (Flesh cannot inherit God's Kingdom.)
