February 20, 2012 at 12:10 am#279497mikeboll64BlockedNick,
In John 16, Jesus speaks of a “him” that he will send when he gets to heaven.
Jesus says this “him” will bring glory to him. He says this “him” will take of what is his.
This is the same “him” that will speak only what he hears, and will speak for the disciples in front of the courts and governors.
I've always assumed this “him” to be the Holy Spirit of God. (In fact, I think it is spelled out that way in a scripture or two.)
Do you think Jesus is referring to himself, and calling himself “him”? Do you think that Jesus is saying when he gets to heaven, he will re-send HIMSELF?

God has funny ways of saying things and it confuses some.February 20, 2012 at 12:14 am#279501NickHassanParticipantHi MB,
Would you have been equally confused if he promised to send his Spirit?
Would you like the comforter, the Spirit of truth etc removed as well?
No the words are designed to make some see and some stumble.February 20, 2012 at 12:21 am#279503mikeboll64BlockedYes Nick.
And I realize you have stumbled, and I'm trying to help you back up again.
Is your answer, “Yes Mike, Jesus was talking about re-sending HIMSELF after he ascended to heaven” ?

Resending?February 20, 2012 at 12:32 am#279508942767ParticipantHi:
The Word is that which God has spoken. God has spoken to us in various and sundry ways by His Spirit through the prophets, and has in this last days spoken to us through His Only Begotten Son and His Christ. The Spirit of Christ is the anointed Word of God that Jesus obeyed even unto death on the cross.
Quote 1Cr 2:9 But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. 1Cr 2:10 But God hath revealed [them] unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God.
1Cr 2:11 For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God.
1Cr 2:12 Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.
1Cr 2:13 Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
Quote 2Jo 1:9 Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God. He that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, he hath both the Father and the Son. Love in Christ,

Romans 8 and Jm 14-16 are for those reborn of the Spirit and who know the ways of the Spirit. In many ways the one Spirit that unifies men to God in Christ is spoken of according to roles and abilities supplied to the Body.
February 20, 2012 at 12:49 am#279527mikeboll64BlockedLet me try again with bolded letters:
Nick,
In John 16, Jesus speaks of a “him” that he will send when he gets to heaven.
1. Do you think Jesus is referring to himself, and calling himself “him”?
2. Do you think that Jesus is saying when he gets to heaven, he will re-send HIMSELF?
Nick, I would like your ANSWERS to these questions – as those answers will shed even more light upon your flawed understanding.
