Nick:
I was baptized in water after I had received the baptism of the Holy Spirit.

Hi KW,
If Philip believed that they would receive the Spirit AUTOMATICALLY after baptism then the follow up for laying on of hands would not have been arranged.
Do you agree?
If he believed that then he would have laid hands on them himself. Instead he was satisfied they had received the word of God and then to wait until other members of the Eleven came to do it.
It is not like the words of the Ethiopian who said ” here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?”

So PRESUMING TO KNOW the mind of an anointed one you ADD a PRIVATE INTERPRETATION?
Wisdom seems to be lacking.

You are the one that said:

I just pointed out what his actions spoke as loud as words as by them he hindered the the reception of the Holy Spirit by the laying on of hands.
If anyone presumed to know Philip’s mind it was you.

August 26, 2015 at 9:28 am#802512NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
You know what he believed?
Why do you not let scripture teach you?
August 26, 2015 at 7:02 pm#802531kerwinParticipantNick,
We are discussing the difference of what we find in Scripture but you are not holding up your part of the conversation. Instead you chose to accuse me of wrongdoing when you were the one that performed the action you accused me of.
I have given evidence in both this thread and the one about the false teaching that Jesus’ righteousness is imputed to believers that the Holy Spirit gave gifts both in in the old covenant and the new covenant. Do you agree?
August 26, 2015 at 7:25 pm#802532NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Yes we know you reject the righteousness of Jesus preferring to develop your own.
You prefer the way of the Jews to the way of Jesus

I asked:

You failed to answer it. Why are you afraid to answer this question?
If you are not then answer it and stop the song and dance.
August 27, 2015 at 7:22 am#802543NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Why should anyone align with your assumptions?
Truth is written.
August 27, 2015 at 9:38 am#802547GeneBalthropParticipantKerwin….BROTHER, we are “ONLY” saved by “GRACE” , that means, our rightious standing before GOD is based on JESUS’ SACRIFICE “ALONE” , WHEN GOD SEE US, HE SEES WHAT JESUS DID FOR US ALL, AND PASSESOVER OUR SINS, even the ones we still have brother , we “ONLY” stand by “GRACE”. “NOT OF WORK LEST ANY SHOULD BOAST”. THAT IS NOT TO SAY WE SHOULD NOT TRY TO DO WHAT IS RIGHT ALL THE TIME BROTHER. BUT OUR STANDING WITH THE FATHER IS BASED ON THE SACRIFICE OF JESUS CHRIST. WE WERE BOUGHT WITH A “PRICE”. IMO
I BELIEVE YOU KNOW THAT, but just thought i would remind you brother.
peace and love to you and yours. ………………..gene

I disagree with you for the grace is given once not all of the time you are sinning ,Jesus will not die a second time for you ,
so we have to take the grace of our sins once and take very seriously for our live depend on it

Here is the question again.

August 27, 2015 at 3:33 pm#802560kerwinParticipantGene,
It sounds like you are claiming Jesus died for nothing as imputed righteousness was available to Abraham and others.
Scripture tells us the new covenant is greater than anything that went before.
August 27, 2015 at 3:38 pm#802561NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
You ask
“I have given evidence in both this thread and the one about the false teaching that Jesus’ righteousness is imputed to believers”
By your judgement only.
” that the Holy Spirit gave gifts both in in the old covenant and the new covenant. Do you agree?”
Where are the GIFTS, as specified in 1Cor 12, shown to be given in the OT?

August 28, 2015 at 3:31 am#802572GeneBalthropParticipantKerwin……JESUS DID NOT DIE FOR NOTHING , HE DIED SO THAT THE STANDING DEATH SENTENCE FOR OUR SINS, AND THE WORLDS WOULD NOT BE APPLIED TO US OR THE WORLD. HAD JESUS NOT PAID THE PRICE FOR OUR SINS, EVEN ABRAHAM COULD NOT HAVE BEEN SAVED NO MATTER HOW MUCH RIGHTIOUS WAS “ATRIBUTATED” TO HIM BECAUSE OF HIS FAITH. OUR FAITH DOES NOT PAY THE JUDGEMENTS OF GOD FOR OUR SINS, JESUS’ SACRIFICE DOES THAT. WE MUST STAND BY THE GRACE OF GOD, NOT BY OUR OWN RIGHTIOUSNESS. BY WORKS OF LAW SHALL NO FLESH BE JUSIFED BEFORE GOD. KERWIN YOU NEED TO READ ROMANS, AND GALATIONS AGAIN BROTHER. WE MUST EAT (ake to ourselves) THE FLESH AND DRINK (take to ourselves) THE BLOOD OF JESUS, INORDER TO BE SAVED. THE POURING OUT OF HIS BLOOD FOR OUR SINS IS WHAT SAVES US, BECAUSE IT SAYS “THERE IS NO FORGIVENESS OF SINS WITHOUT THE SHEADING OF BLOOD”. CAN WE IGNORE ThE WORDS OF GOD and make his word of none effect? Our rightiousness is as filty rage to GOD, WE ARE COMPLETELY SAVED BY THE GRACE OF GOD.
If you do not completely except this then how do you recon yourself as saved. Its like your saying i am not saved i am working on it, trying to atain my salvation on just what i do. I am not saying we should sin that GRACE may abound,GOD FORBID, AS PAUL SAID. SO PLEASE DO NOT THINK I AM SAYING THAT EITHER.
peace and love to you and yours. ………………gene
August 28, 2015 at 5:38 am#802575kerwinParticipantGene,
Is faith now a work of the Law?
It is living by the Spirit that leads to salvation for those that walk according to the flesh will not enter the kingdom of God.
The grace of God is we exist and all good things are his grace.
August 28, 2015 at 5:42 am#802576NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
“It is living by the Spirit that leads to salvation for those that walk according to the flesh will not enter the kingdom of God.”
Sounds good.
Not written though .
Just a self justifying doctrine you devised.
Entry is prescribed in jn 3
August 28, 2015 at 5:46 am#802578kerwinParticipantNick,
The gift of prophesy was given quite commonly in the OT. The gifts of healing and miracles is rarer an I know of nowhere the gift of tongues or the interpretation of tongues is mentioned. Faith is mention but I do not know if it is a gift when mentioned and I am not sure what the discernment of spirits is.
In the case of the Seventy elders and King Saul the gift of prophecy was given when the Spirit was received.
