    Hi Nick,

You said,”Jesus was addressing the satan that spoke through the man Peter.”

NO, Jesus is said clearly to be addressing Peter and he is telling Peter to get behind him, calling HIM an adversary. Peter himself is an offense to Jesus because Peter is not thinking through the Spirit of God, but rather the spirit of men.

Really?? Jesus is telling a supernatural being that he should not have in mind the things that men do?

Nick not only are you denying what the passage says, but also your interpretation is foolish.

23 But he turned, and said unto Peter,Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

So Jesus is trying to teach a supernatural being not to be influenced by the ways of man?? Hmm, foolishness.

    Hi Jodi,

Jesus spoke to Peter, because the Satan was in Peter.

The master does not address his brothers in derogatory terms.

Nether does he let the god of this world continue his little manipulations of the truth.

    Hi Nick,

My understanding comes straight from many scriptures, you make many passages into lies with your understanding. My understanding shows the character of God in one way, your’s shows a different character of God.  His character is revealed in the truth of scripture, I can’t help it if you misinterpret scripture and the result makes God into a character He is not.

Nick, the parable is not a deceptive lie, you don’t get lies when you know that the story to begin with is fictional, now do you? Does that mean that the fictional story does not contain a valuable teaching?  Many authors use fictional stories to teach a valuable life lesson. Do you live in a hole?… as this is common knowledge.

You taking a parable, a fictional story to teach a valuable lesson, and by making it to be literally true resulting in making hundreds of other scriptures false, is pure foolishness.

Actually my last post explained the opposite of what you accused me of, “that I hang on the word again”. You did not comprehend a word of that post apparently as you are accusing me of the very opposite of what I posted, lol!!

    Hi Jodi,

Jesus had to do more of this work with the brothers.

    Lk 9.53.

But they did not receive him because he was travelling towards Jerusalem.

When the disciples  James and John, saw this they said,

’Lord, Do you want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them? ‘

But he turned and rebuked them, and said,

’You do not know what kind of spirit you are of:

for the Son of Man did notcome to destroy men’s lives but to save them’

    Hi Jodi,

So the teaching of the Spirit in Lk 16 is FICTIONAL?

Is there no truth shown in the other parables given by THE SPIRIT either?

    Hi Jodi,

Does the parable in Lk 16 challenge your view of God and His justice?

Should you makes a god according to your personal view?

    Hi Jodi,

You clearly admire your teachings and claim they are faithful to scripture.

But you exclude what does not fit with your ideology.

    Whom do you serve?

    Hi Jodi,

What else is FICTIONAL in scripture?

If you cannot believe this what else should we not believe?

    Hi Jodi,

    Mk 8.31

And he began to teach them that the son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders

and the chief priests and the scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. And he stated the matter

plainly, and Peter took him aside and began to rebuke him. But turning around and seeing his disciples,

    he rebuked Peter and said.

‘Get behind me satan: for you are not setting your mind on God’s interests but man’s’

And he summoned the crowd with his disciples, and said to them.,

’If anyone wishes to come after me , he must deny himself, and take up his cross and follow me.

For whoever wishes to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake and the gospel’s

will save it. For what does it profit a man to gain the whole world, and forfeit his soul?..’

So the initial rebuke was to the Satan in the mind of Peter.

Then the warning that the will of God will be done despite the plans of men.

What scripture reveals will happen does happen and it is best to align with scripture.

Nick…what you are accusing Jodi of, is exactly what you are doing, you force the text to fit your false understandings. You are in away like Mike who rejects truth because you are already predesposed to believe a different way.

Jesus was clearly talking to the man Peter as i and Jodi brought out, and he told the deciples basically that, if they were going to hang on to “THEIR LIVES” (THE WAY THEY LIVE LIFE) THEY WOULD LOSE IT, Peter was hanging on to “his” way of living, and therefore was himself a Satan, (a advasary to Jesus). Why can’t you see that? Is it because you simply do not understand what the word Satan means?

Your perception of Satan as a “being” going around jumping in and out of people controlling them, and people still doing things after they die, like the ancient Egyptians and pagans believed, really has your mind messed up brother.

Using a parable as a literial event, would proclude it as being a “parable” or a fictious story, “describing” a spritual truth, Would it not.?

The spritual truths brought out by the parable of the poor man and the rich man is this, there is ascribed “suffering” to man, as it says, “many are the aflections of the rightious” and some of those who have riches can bypass most it in this life, so they shall suffer later, while those who have suffered will find rest, that story has nothing to do with who sinned the most, the poor man may have been a greater sinner then the rich man as far as sin goes.

After the second resurection there is a judgement to make that determination. ” for it is “appointed” to man once to die, then “after” that the judgement”. Do you see anywhere in that, another judgement given, between death and the resurection. What your saying is that people after they die are then Judged, not saying t h at is not possible for God to do, but scripture shows judgement after the second resurection.

According to scripture the second resurection is for those who have died and the books are opened and they are judged by what they have done in their first life. Right?

Peace and love to you and yours. ……gene

    Hi Gene,

I know you can live with removing a lot of the Old Testament and many of the teachings of Jesus Christ

to satisfy your dogma but eventually you will meet the one whose teachings you ascribe to superstition.

    Hi LU,

The OT has things that take place at that time but then also picture a future time to be fulfilled. Such as the passover lamb, and likewise the son of man that God would be a father to.

John 14: 14 The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.

As I stated before what they saw was a MAN, and he spoke the truth, not through himself but through God’s Spirit.

Don’t take the words of Jesus away LU, don’t bring vanity.

He did nothing of himself, everything came from the Father, his glory as a man was through the Father, but you want to say his glory was in his pre-existence. NO!.. his glory is in that fact that he could do nothing of himself he was a MAN NEEDING God and was a man that relied on the Spirit of God, as we are likewise humans that need God’s Spirit and need to rely on the Spirit of God. You want to say he was able to rely on his pre-existing spirit and that is his glory.

After Jesus was BORN of the Spirit at the river it is from there that he was sent out speaking the words of God. From that anointing being BORN of God is when they SAW the miracles performed by a man. The glory that was being performed of which they saw was occurring through a man given God’s Spirit without any measure.

Moses was great with his words and miracles but he did not receive the Spirit without measure, Solomon was great with his wisdom, but he did not receive the spirit without measure, the fact that there was a MAN given the Spirit of God without measure and the people beheld it, is that which  is GLORIOUS, AMAZING, HOLY, but you want to divert that greatness of Jesus and say his glory was that he was a pre-existing spirit inside a man.  This image that you make LU takes away God’s glory and the glory of Jesus.

The people that witnessed Jesus speaking and performing miracles through an anointing of God’s Spirit did not see him as a pre-existing being, they saw him as the seed of David being given God’s Spirit.

Matthew 1:17 Thus there were fourteen generations in all from Abraham to David, fourteen from David to the exile to Babylon, and fourteen from the exile to the Messiah.

Matthew 9: 27 As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!”

Matthew 15: 22 A Canaanite woman from that vicinity came to him, crying out, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on me! My daughter is demon-possessed and suffering terribly.”

Matthew 20: 30 Two blind men were sitting by the roadside, and when they heard that Jesus was going by, they shouted, “Lord, Son of David, have mercy on us!”

Revelation 5: 5 Then one of the elders said to me, “Do not weep! See, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Root of David, has triumphed. He is able to open the scroll and its seven seals.”

Revelation 22: 16 “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”

As a fact Jesus speaks the prophecy of Isaiah that he would be anointed with God’s Spirit to be sent out into the world and speak the truth. So the glory that they saw of grace and truth came through his anointing.

The arm of God was ALSO Moses as likewise others, not just Jesus, as the arm of God represents God’s powers that He can give to others. This has been clearly proven to you through scripture.

If the Son of Man had not been PERFECTED through the works of God’s Spirit working in the MAN Jesus, we would not have a savior.

The entire OT is to show us that the law cannot perfect a man, and thus cannot bring man to eternal life LU. The law was given as a tutor to teach us this fact. We cannot keep the law no matter how hard we try, we must receive an anointing of God’s Spirit in order to be made righteous, JUST as the son of David was perfected. REMEMBER THE CLEAR SCRIPTURE that the SON of GOD is to be believed as a PERFECT MAN, NOT as a pre-existing son. Jesus teaches us that of our own-selves humans can do nothing, we cannot obtain knowledge or have eternal life through ourselves, we need God working in our spirits through His Spirit.

Let this MIND be in you that was also in Jesus our Messiah. Kind of hard wouldn’t you say if the mind of Jesus is that of a pre-existing son, and not that of a man. The mind of Jesus was that of a man, powered by the Spirit of God, not one of a god in a man. We cannot be like minded with Jesus if Jesus had the mind of a god, a pre-existing son. The righteous servant shall die for our sins, and that servant was a MAN that was perfected through the works of God’s Spirit.

Hi Nick, you said, “Then the warning that the will of God will be done despite the plans of men.”

Oh I thought according to you it is actually the plans of a supernatural wicked rebel spirit being? make up your mind, you make NO sense.

In the mind of Peter was that of a man’s mind in comparison to him being like minded united with God’s Spirit.

Nick, we are told that the god of this world is man’s belly, his fleshly desires.

hmm, read on in the verse in question,

23 Jesus turned and said to Peter, “Get behind me, Satan! You are a stumbling block to me; you do not have in mind the concerns of God, but merely human concerns.”
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me.
They are to deny THEMSELVES, that is their adversary, for they act like beasts, they act like a serpents, who is likewise blind and deaf by nature. Same reason why Jesus called the Pharisees blind hypocrites, vipers!!

    Hi Jodi,

The accuser of the brethren is allowed by God to test these who would be sons of God to develop their faith.

As with Peter who Satan demanded to be able to rest.

The whole world is under the power of the evil one.

    2 Tim 2.24

The lord’s bondservant must not be quarrelsome, but be kind to all, able to teach, patient when wronged, with gentleness correcting those who are in opposition, if perhaps God may grant them repentance leading to the knowledge of the truth, and they may come to their senses and escape from the snare of the devil, having been held captive by him to do his will.

Only God can open ears and eyes closed by Satan.

    Grace is all

    Hi Jodi,

Jesus warned against self interest and self preservation as temptations.

We become beheaded and die to self daily that the Lord can use us to do God’s will.

All things work together for good for those who love God and live according to His purposes.

Jesus said, “Before Abraham, I am”.

Conclusion: His sheep hear and believe his own words.
