Not at all, Nick. But you must start with the right words in the first place. And since John 1:1c can be faithfully translated as “god” or “a god”, then we must decide which one John meant.

Was the one and only god WITH himself? Or were there TWO gods, one of whom was WITH the other?

Any other time in your life, if you hear the words “blank was WITH blank”, you will assume that TWO are mentioned, one of whom was WITH the other. Why does your common sense shut down when it comes to John 1:1?

I read a quote once from a Greek speaking man who said that although there are Greek speaking Trinitarians, John 1:1 is not one of their “proof texts”, because all Greek speaking people understand that John was speaking of “a god” who was with “THE God”.

according to thomas his eyes were not sufficient enough, he had to touch him. So thomas concluded that since Jesus proclaimed that he was God,if he touches Him he will be convinced that He definitely is God Almighty in flesh and bones, since he saw him dead.

Hi Mike,

You know how I say your “spirit” is you, and
you say (in essence) your spirit is with you
(“OF” is the word that you specifically use).

Well take those two ideas together, and
you have what John is saying in John 1:1.

1:1 In the beginning was “Ho Logos”,
and Ho Logos was with/of God,
and “Ho Logos” was God.
