Quote (kerwin @ April 07 2013,17:41)T8,Where is “a” in the Ancient Greek. There is no indefinite article in Greek. Thus when Jesus said, “One of you is a devil”. He actually said, “one of you is devil”.Translators put in the indefinite article to make in intelligible in English.

The Hot Seat did its job. I am just thanking you for setting up the Hot Seat discussion that is all. It is good to weed out those who are not forthcoming with answers to questions that should be asked by those who say one view is wrong and their one is right. It is not bad to ask questions, but if they don't answer, then they have no purpose but…[Read more]

Another example would be me saying, “You are an angel”. Ignore for a moment that it means messenger in scripture, if I use that sentence today, it is speaking of a Heavenly Angel. Now the sentence is saying that you are an angel (noun) right? But the meaning to be derived is that I am saying you are angel like or have a nature resembling that of…[Read more]

Quote (mikeboll64 @ April 07 2013,16:12)The DEFINITION could include “theios” – which is the ADJECTIVAL form of “theos”, and would therefore be correct. But notice how the examples for that definition are not adjectives – but instead nouns.Correct. But my point is if Judas was a devil (adjective used as a noun), to distinguish from a literal devil…[Read more]

Quote (mikeboll64 @ April 07 2013,16:12)I did some checking, and “diablos” in John 6:70 is for sure an adjective. BUT………. I then compared “diablos” in Matthew 4:1 and 4:5, where it is used as “THE devil”, and they are both also ADJECTIVES – not NOUNS. Interesting indeed. Your point has been confirmed as rational, my friend.I wish more…[Read more]

Further, I agree with you that John 1:1c can be correctly translated as “the Word was a god”, just as Jesus said, “one of you is a devil”, but I think the reader needs to read them both as referring to nature or in quality, rather than literal. In that sense both could be translated as saying the Word was one who is divine or Judas was one who was…[Read more]

Interesting note Mike that when Jesus said of Judas, “one of you is a devil” (one of you is diablos), that as Kathi points out that too is an adjective, but is said to be almost invariably used in the New Testament as a noun. This happens in English too. The word “Mod” was a noun once, and is now mainly an adjective. And so when Jesus was talking…[Read more]

Why do people quote quotes in quotes in quotes?Very hard to follow a conversation when you have to separate out all the noise to see the actual post. Why not just answer with a reply. You only need to quote if you are replying to an old post so that you can bundle the context in your post. Otherwise it is pointless.

Curious jammin.Where does it say that specifically and why do some translations say that God told Adam to repopulate the Earth? Faulty translation perhaps?I am open minded here, and more so since I have done little study in this area. I haven't got any clear understanding about what is possible given what I have read so far. Clouds are water, and a Popsicle is 98% water, so Popsicles evolved from clouds. That is how the theory of Evolution works.Just gotta use your imagination with things that are made up of the same stuff. It is that simple. Okay, maybe a bit more complicated than that. You have to come across as knowing what you are talking about too.
