Some locals from the suburb I live in took these. I doubt they are part of a global conspiracy.  Just ordinary people using a decent telescope on a clear night and who extend an open invitation to see for yourself. Clearly you can see globe planets and they even said that Jupiter’s four Galilean moons were crystal clear. But because we cannot…[Read more]

This hoax you Flat Earthers believe in is very elaborate.

If I was trying to hide the Flat Earth from people, I would simply make up fake stories of people dying 100% of the time at a certain altitude or in space. That way I wouldn’t need to spend trillions and get…[Read more]

The New Testament wasn’t written in Hebrew.

    It was written in Greek.

Why do some people in English say that the sun sets as opposed to the sun goes down. Perhaps because the word ‘sets’ has the word ‘down’ built into its meaning and is more specific.

Further, the main point about it is not that it goes down, but that it is the end of the day. So ‘down’ is less used because that word is stressing that meaning only.

    Hi T8,
Can I start a new thread where we can explore this farther?
as it does not really fit this thread… The Ordinary Jesus Brigade

Of course. You don’t have to ask.

Religion starts with the compass point premise: “The Word” is Jesus…
…and then they try to fit all of Scripture around that premise.

But there’s only one problem: Scripture no-where says that???
It’s instead clear from Scripture “The Word” God’s “Holy-Spirit:

The Spirit is the word –> The words are spirit… (Pretty simple!)

Ed J, you have never satisfactorily answered this question.

If the Holy Spirit is the Word of God then why is the sword of the Spirit also the word of God?

The sword must confuse you because it must be pointless to you right?

and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,

T8……what Jodi and I and it looks like even Edj, are telling you IS RIGHT, the word of God is God, and naturally it is with him

I’ve always said it here and it is still true, that if people understood the difference between an attribute and person, then they wouldn’t wander off into strange doctrines on what God is and what Jesus is.

    Of cou…[Read more]

To understand how the definite article can make a big difference to a piece of text, look at this example. Have a guess as to which one is correct.

    a) In the beginning was THE woman
    b) and THE woman was with THE man
    c) and THE Woman was THE man

Truthcomber, I am open to the Word being God because I believe that everything came from God even the Word that was with God. God is the Father of spirits after all.

John 1:1 (Greek text) In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and God was the Word.

Me: This is the original Greek text. Click the link above. There is no article in “God was the Word.” It is not “THE God was the Word”.  So is God not God?

God doesn’t have the definite article, Logos does.

Now dig deeper… like I did. The Greek word “duno” was used to translate the Hebrew word “bo” in the LXX. Go find out what “bo” means, and look at scriptures that have that word so you can see what it meant. Once you find out that it meant “to come” or “to go” – depending on the context… and was used exactly that way in a bunch of Hebrew scripture…

Not so Jodi. The word ‘God’ (theos) has no definite article in John 1:1c like the other instances of ‘theos’ in John 1:1a-b’. This is profound.

First off, if it did have the definite article, then it would mean that the Word was God to the exclusion of all others. So what does it mean?

Think of the time Jesus said “You are theos”. Was he telling…[Read more]

It’s clear from my above post which is a straight copy and paste from Biblehub that concordances explicitly state that the meaning is ‘SINK’. It is especially used in the context of heavenly bodies according to Thayer’s Greek Lexicon.

Couple that with the fact that from our perspective the sun goes down and you have two witnesses. A third witness…[Read more]
