But surely it wasn't the spirit of the anointing who said Father, glorify ME, was it?

Nick, nobody questions the meaning of the “mono” part. Of course it means “ONLY”.I thought you were falling in with the latest Trinitarian twist that “genes” doesn't refer to bringing something/someone into existence.

Frank,Was it a DIFFERENT spirit of anointing that God placed upon David?  Upon Cyrus?  How do you know? We know that Jesus got more of it, for God gave it to him without measure. But tell me how the spirit itself was a different spirit than the one God placed on Jesus? They were all christs of God, after all.

Nick,”Mono” means “only”, or “alone”. “Genes” derives from the word “ginomai”, which has as its first definition: to become, i.e. to come into existence, begin to be,.The word is used in scripture about 7 times in reference to a parent's only begotten child. Nick, the newest Trinitarian trend is to claim that “monogenes” doesn't really refer to…[Read more]

Hi Wm,Aren't both Jesus and his God able to dwell in us?You said:Quote “Spirit of” implies there is something else the “spirit of” belongs to.I was just pointing out that “spirit of” in the case of God doesn't imply there is something else the spirit belongs to – so why would it automatically imply that in the case of Jesus?
