Ok Nick,My opinion is that the Son of God had a heavenly body before He came as a baby. At that point the Son of God gave up His heavenly body to take on an earthly body. For a period of 3 days, the Son of God was without a body and thus dead for three days. After three days, He again was contained within a body, this time a glorified body. The…[Read more]

Right Nick,We cannot follow Him into a monogenes theos relationship but we can follow Him as being born from the dead and being begotten that way. Quote When he died did he remain such a god? Yes, always the monogenes theos.

Nick,His “sonship” as the other Davidic kings was a fulfillment of prophecy and in that particular “sonship,” He was one of many “sons,” Davidic kings. For example, Solomon was also prophecied about as a future Davidic King.1Ki 8:20The Lord has kept the promise he made. 1 I have taken my father David’s place and have occupied the throne of I…[Read more]

Their situations are like apples to oranges.

Quote (Nick Hassan @ Feb. 28 2010,22:28)Hi LU, Sonship according to a promise could fit with Ps2 and the JordanBut Nick,The Son was begotten before any promise was made or even necessary and He was the one that fulfilled the promise that eventually was made.

Quote (Nick Hassan @ Feb. 28 2010,22:27)Hi LU, So it has to do with SONSHIP by a promise and not begettal?Nick,Isaac wouldn't have been the promised son if he wasn't begotten.

Nick,You know that Abraham's attempt to offer up Isaac was a much bigger act of faith because Isaac was the only one promised to Abraham to fulfill God's covenant with Him. It wouldn't have been such a big deal if Abe had two sons to choose from, one dies, one lives and fulfills the promise. Nope, only one son was begotten that could fulfill the…[Read more]

Nick,This thread is not about the monogenes theos part of the verse. We have beaten that horse to death.

Nick,He is the only begotten Son, not an adopted son, not a created son. A unique type of son that we cannot follow Him as. An adopted son can never be a literal offspring like a true son can. You are a doctor, you should know that.

Nick,Many Greek scholars have also translated it that way. In fact, all the Bibles that I have read use the word “only” but I already told you that a while ago.
Lightenup replied to the topic The only god who is in the forum Scriptural Teachings 16 years, 6 months ago
Nick,That is not what the Bible says. It says that He is the only begotten son many times.

Quote (Nick Hassan @ Feb. 28 2010,20:02)Hi LU, I believe his monogenes sonship refers to his anointing from above at the Jordan when God first publically declared him to be His Son. After all rebirth from above is how we who follow him can become Sons and Daughters of God.Nick,You keep forgetting the “ONLY” Son part.
