Hi Nick,
Yes, the spirit is one. No, not defending Rome.

The question is “Does 1 Peter 2 imply that Jesus is God?” According to my limited understanding the answer is yes, Jesus is the only begotten God as Jehovah of Hosts which is someone other than Jehovah in the context of Isaiah 8:12-15 which Peter refers to.

Hello Bo,
Sorry for my absence…I have been traveling a bunch this summer. I am glad to be back for a while and participating on HN.
You mentioned that Jesus is not God and God is not Jesus. I know it can seem complicated. In some verses we can see that Jesus is mentioned to be a theos as well as the Father is mentioned to be a…[Read more]

You said “God is an eternal Spirit.”
I agree. I also believe that the Son is the eternal offspring part of that eternal spirit being.

Thanks for your input, however this is a closed debate between t8 and myself. Thanks for understanding.
Wm, the trip was amazing, thanks!

What type of spirit being do you believe the Heavenly Father is?
(Sorry I haven’t posted in a while…I have been on a 6500 mile road trip to California and back since my last post.)

@t8 (btw, do I have to do the “@t8” on every post in this thread for you to be notified that I made a post in response to you or can I leave that out?)
You say that it can be argued that Jesus is called God. Good that is a start. In another thread, you wrote that satan and man are also called theos/god, but do not add that it is arguable,…[Read more]

@t8,
You recently said in a post that Jesus was arguably called theos. Was He or wasn’t He called theos? While you think about how to answer that, please tell me WHAT type of being the pre-existent Jesus was.Lightenup replied to the topic Similarities with God Jesus & Us in the forum Truth or Tradition 11 years, 9 months ago
Hi there,
Can anyone help me find where the church shares the same glory, the same honor, the same dominion for ever and ever as that which the Father and Son do? If so, we can show how the Father, the Lamb and the church all share in these things because it couldn’t be just the Father and Son share this or it would look like they are both sharing…[Read more]Lightenup replied to the topic in the forum The Trinity Doctrine 11 years, 9 months ago
@Wakeup
Peter identifies Jesus to be the stumbling stone which Isaiah writes about and that stone is called Jehovah (LORD) of hosts by Jehovah. There are two who are named Jehovah. One is the Father and the other is the Son.Hope that helps!

Matt 28:18
And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, “All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth.That should help answer your question. Thanks Mike for the invite. I’m trying not to get too spread out.

@t8,
The Son is also named Jehovah and that is what you miss, it seems. He represents Himself as He represents His Father. There is no disagreement. They can have the same name because they have the same character, an eternal God character. They are of the same mind. Notice the use of plural pronouns that I use. You would see them in the Bible…[Read more]Lightenup replied to the topic in the forum The Trinity Doctrine 11 years, 9 months ago
@Wakeup,
Let me just say that trinies do not say that God died. You do not understand the trinity if you believe this. Jesus’ flesh died but He didn’t. The trinies do not believe the Son is the Father, either.Just trying to help you, my friend.

Hi Rebecca,
Welcome to Heavennet! Aside from the trinity doctrine, do you understand that Peter in 1 Peter 2, identifies Jesus as the Jehovah of hosts of Isaiah 8:13Isaiah 8

@t8,
No t8, I am not saying God is like water…I’m saying that Jesus is identified by Peter in 1 Peter 2 as the Jehovah of hosts of Isaiah 8. Jehovah says this about Jesus (Jehovah of hosts):
13Jehovah of hosts, him shall ye sanctify; and let him be your fear, and let him be your dread.
14And he shall be for a sanctuary; but for a stone of…[Read more]

Wakeup, we disagree here. The ‘word of God’ in one context does not have the same meaning in all the verses that it is found. Sometimes it refers to a person who is identified as Jesus in the NT and as Jehovah in the OT but not Jehovah the Father.

Hi Wakeup,
I appreciate your response. I do not agree that a man’s spirit=his desires. I would say that a man’s spirit has desires. I also disagree that man’s soul=his works.- Load More
