To All………….the word light in scripture is simply (your understanding or intellect) and as light can be bright or dark or any thing between so can our understandings, this is all its talking about, Jesus said if that light in you be darkness HOW GREAT is that Darkness, this is to say if you see little how little do you see (understand). We are to grow in both GRACE and KNOWLEDGE. The darkness in us should be giving way to the light coming into us, we should be becoming brighter and brighter, as Peter said until the day star downs in our hearts. God's Spirit caused us to grow brighter it illuminates our intellects, and give us more and more understanding. Some though Just want to stay in the elementary or dim light, We are told we advance from glory to glory. ' but we all with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the of the Lord.
Peace and love to you all…………………………………gene

Hi Gene,
When t8 gives you editing rights you get a little “edit” button up by the “quote” button. After you post something and you realize that you left something out or spelled something wrong, you can click on edit and shazaam you can change it. It is not intended for the purpose of changing your posts meaning because that throws off other's responses to your post.Anyway, about light = intellect, understanding.
I think that is part of it. However, when Jesus states that He is the Light of the world, I do not think your definition fits. I think that “Light” in this case is a person that is filled with truth and teaches and demonstrates truth to others.
Just a thought.
Blessings,

Hi Gene,Go to the “Help Desk” and request editing rights from t8. Then as Kathi has said, you'll have an edit button that after you post your comments….if you see an error, you can click the edit button and fix the error and repost. It's pretty handy.

Hi Gene,
I hope you are having a great Sunday. I want to challenge you on the quoted post of yours.Jesus not only had the fullness of the Spirit, so did John the Baptist as I have previously shown you. However, John the Baptist explicitly said that he was not the Light but he came to testify about the True Light which was Christ.
Think about it Gene,
John the Baptist was:
Filled with the Holy Spirit from the womb
A prophet of God's
Testified of Christ
Christ's baptizerWhat he said he wasn't:
He was not the True Light. So, my point is, Jesus isn't the true light merely because He had the fullness of the Spirit and gave understanding. John the Baptist had that and did that as well.
There is more to it and what I suggest is that the Son of God was the actual Light brought forth with the very word of God “Let there be light.” That was the beginning of the True Light spoken about in John 1. It also was the word in the beginning coincedently.
John 1:6-11
There came a man sent from God, whose name was John. 7 He came as a witness, to testify about the Light, so that all might believe through him. 8 He was not the Light, but he came to testify about the Light.9 There was the true Light which, coming into the world, enlightens every man. 10 He was in the world, and the world was made through Him, and the world did not know Him.

March 8, 2009 at 6:48 pm#124563GeneBalthropParticipantLU……….John the Baptist was a light , he Just was not (THAT) light. Jesus himself was not (THAT) light either He had (THAT) light in Him, remember Jesus said the (WORD) (that is what lighten every man coming into the world) WAS NO HIS> lets see if i can simplify it , an example would be say the Sun is the (Source of the light of our world) the moon and stars reflect that light, but hey are not the source of it. They simple reflect it to us.
This is the same way it works with us. We are also considered Light on a hill. we are told to let our light shine, but our light is not from us it is from GOD who enlightens us. Jesus had the fullness of that true light other Had portions of the same light. But we to are to grow in intensity or as Peter put it until the Day Star shines in your hearts or minds. And we will reflect what shimming in us , But it is a reflection or Image and its is even true with Jesus, He just had the fullness of that light first.

Gene,
Thanks for your reply dear friend. I do believe that the term “the True Light” in John 1 is in reference to the Son of God in the context written and not to the Most High God, His Father. However the Father is also credited with being the Light but not in the context of John 1.John came to testify of that true Light and we know that John came to testify of Christ, the Son of God. Jesus is the True Light who came from True Light since He came from God who is Light. Light of LIGHT, God of GOD. The Most High God is the source of all light, the Son's and all believers.
As I understand it,

Hi Kathi! That explains it really good and I believe it could very well be true.
How are you and yours? Hope all is well?
We had the friends from the old W.W.Church of God over last Friday Night.
We had a super time reminiscing. It was so good to fellowship with old friends.
They live here in the Cincinnati area and not to far from our House. But you know how that goes, one still don't see each other to often, which is a shame.
Georg said Nick has not been posting for a couple of days? Have not checked it out yet.

I was just putting a general statement out there. It really wasn't directed to anyone. I had read where Georg and someone else said that hadn't heard from Nick, so I just shared what I knew.March 9, 2009 at 2:37 am#124584Not3in1ParticipantNick does tend to keep things going, but I've also noticed the board takes on a different flavor when he is not here. Not better necessarily, just different.

Thanks Irene, you're a doll! I am so glad that you got together with some old friends. You need more of that in your life since you don't go to church.
