    Hi DavidL:

The scriptures are given “here a little” and “there a little” and is line upon line.  God does not say one thing here and something else that is contrary to His other statements on the same subject, but every thing that is said agrees.

Matthew 16 God has revealed to us that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the Living God, and so, that is who he is.  He is not God, but he is the express image of God’s person.  He is the last Adam.  Adam is “man”, and the scriptures state that “God is not a man”.  And as to his pre-destined to come into the world at a specific point in time, I will quote the scripture below.

    1 Peter 1:
    18 Forasmuch as ye know that ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation received by tradition from your fathers;

19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

20 Who verily was foreordained before the foundation of the world, but was manifest in these last times for you,

    Love in Christ,
    Marty

    Hi davidl,

    Context?

Where did Jesus teach he was any sort of deity?

    DavidL,

That is how deluded we also can get by relying on our own natural understanding to interpret the meaning or context of Scripture.

Do you mean “natural” as in knowledge that is a work of the flesh, which is to say based on the principles of humanity.

A number of centuries ago human beings who lived by the flesh adapted the teaching of the Roman imperial doctrine to Christianity. Jesus as the cult taught that Roman emperors were deities so to do this merging of Christianity and the Roman Imperial Cult Doctrine teach that Jesus as Lord of all things in heaven in earth was a God and since there is but one God he must be that God. At the same time Scripture declared that the one Jesus called his Father and our Father was the one true God. The merging of a polytheistic teaching with a strict monotheistic teaching had the dilemma that there is only one God in Christianity. This dilemma was resolved by declaring that the two God were one God. This statement sounded so absurd that they a euphemism for God was used to make two persons that were in essence the one true God.

Some taught that the Holy Spirit is also God and they would come to dominate the viewpoint over time so that the official doctrine of two persons being God in essence became three persons that were God in essence. The later evolution is documented.

It is also documented that there were Christians that believed Jesus was a human being as early as the Second Century and that the binity was the state religion of the Roman Empire from the time of the Council of Nicaea until the Trinity replaced it. The Roman Empire wanted a unified Christianity and so the persecutions of those Christians that disagreed and who were unable to get the state to exempt them continued.

    Hi KW,

So all based on false human reasoning.

No evidence that any had the mind of Christ.

    Nick,

I do not see reasoning of any type in it. I see human beings moved by the desires of the flesh that then sought rationalization for their choice.

The justification for given into their own desires was based on false reasoning.

Scripture declares Jesus and God are one and it also declares are one with Jesus and God even as Jesus and God are one yet Trinitarians will insist that it means completely different things when talking about Jesus than when talking about believers. They need no evidence to convince them of that idea.

Then you have Romans that have been taught from their youth that emperors are gods and you teach Jesus is the one true emperor. The reaction of those that continue to live by the flesh is to believe Jesus is a god. Since they are also taught that there is only one God it follows Jesus is that one God. The fact that their believes don’t form a whole but are broken in many places either don’t bother them or they seek for some thin reason to conceal the breaks.

People do not like to change and resist it even when it is forced on them. They need to have something to cause them to embrace change. Christianity became popular despite persecution but the conversions were not sincere. Some of these people were worshiping the emperor and others they called gods even as they professed to be Christian.

    Hi KW,

What folk choose to believe is not relevant.

It is written that Jesus is a man.

    That is what is true

    Hi KW,

The trinity idea is a refuge for those who cannot grasp what is written.

It is one massive insult to our God.

    Guess who from?

    Nick,

It is a massive insult to God but it is written that for Jesus’ sake God’s name is blasphemed among the Gentile.

    Hi KW,

The Word of God is eternally true despite those who have handled it.

The Spirit helps reveal the truth by comparison of verses. 2Cor 13.1
