Hi KW,
What we know is that after the baptism of John Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit and went about doing works of power.
Do you agree?
October 14, 2015 at 8:41 am#803695NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Do you not know that man cannot live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God?
Do you not accept that the word is a lamp to the feet?
Is the word not powerful to you?
October 14, 2015 at 8:42 am#803696NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
You are trying to use logic and inference to prove what is not written.
It is futile-find it written.
October 14, 2015 at 8:46 am#803697NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
As Paul preached in Athens God is close to every man.
As Jesus said in jn 14.17
“that is the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it does not behold Him or know Him,
but you know Him because He abides WITH you, and will be IN you”
October 14, 2015 at 9:15 am#803698NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
After the Jordan the Spirit was IN JESUS and not just WITH HIM.
He was FILLED WITH THE SPIRIT.
As Lk4 says he was LED BY THE SPIRIT.
You should know these things as it is our hope too.
October 14, 2015 at 10:10 am#803703kerwinParticipantNick,
After the Jordan the Spirit was IN JESUS and not just WITH HIM.
These words of yours are not written in Scripture. They are just speculating.
It is written that Jesus did not sin even though he was tempted as common with humanity.
It is also written that the Spirit frees a human from serving sin and anyone that sins is a servant of sin. (Romans 6:17-18)
You are trying to invent another way to be free from sin.
October 14, 2015 at 10:13 am#803704NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Do you not accept that the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus at the Jordan despite the witnesses of Jesus and John?
Can your theology not accept such evidence?
October 14, 2015 at 10:14 am#803705kerwinParticipantNick,
I believe it is written that Jesus saw the Holy descending on him after he came out of the water.
October 14, 2015 at 10:16 am#803706kerwinParticipantNick,
I am not accepting the limits your mindset is putting on the Holy Spirit.
October 14, 2015 at 10:21 am#803707NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Do you deny that the Spirit was in Jesus after the Jordan?
Do you have any evidence that the Spirit was in him prior to this? Fruit/gifts etc
October 14, 2015 at 10:26 am#803708kerwinParticipantNick,
John 7:39Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
39 (But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given; because that Jesus was not yet glorified.)
Do you believe this passage of Scripture?
If so what Spirit is Micah full of?
Micah 3:8Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
8
But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the Lord,
and of judgment, and of might,
to declare unto Jacob his transgression,
and to Israel his sin.October 14, 2015 at 10:27 am#803709NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
So you are confident you are able to find truth on spiritual matters outside of revelation?
October 14, 2015 at 10:30 am#803710kerwinParticipantNick,
There is no testimony of Jesus having the gifts of the Spirit prior to his immersion and Acts 10 implies he received those and the anointing to preach the gospel when the Spirit landed upon him and remained.
There is solid evidence that he has the fruit of the Spirit because he did not sin though tempted as is common to his brothers.
October 14, 2015 at 10:53 am#803714NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Indeed the prophets were given the Spirit of Christ. 1 peter 1
The Spirit in Christ had yet to be given to the disciples.
October 14, 2015 at 11:16 am#803716NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Where does scripture say that to not sin one must be anointed with the Holy Spirit?
October 14, 2015 at 11:28 am#803717NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
You are not seeking truth from scripture.
Instead you are using scripture to try and defend your false dogmas
October 14, 2015 at 1:33 pm#803720kerwinParticipantNick,
So according the you the Spirit was given but not to the disciples of Jesus until the later was crucified.
Jesus’ audience were general Jews and not only disciples. I assume you think the comment is about that group of people only and not open ended.
According to 1 Peter 1:10 the Spirit signified (gave a sign) of the time of Christ. There is nothing about it writing the Law in their hears and the Law with them. On the other hand Jeremiah testified of a time that would happen.
October 14, 2015 at 3:32 pm#803725kerwinParticipantNick,
Where does scripture say that to not sin one must be anointed with the Holy Spirit?
Romans 3:9-19Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin; 10 as it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: 11 there is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are together become unprofitable; there is none that doeth good, no, not one. 13 Their throat is an open sepulchre; with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: 14 whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: 15 their feet are swift to shed blood: 16 destruction and misery are in their ways: 17 and the way of peace have they not known: 18 there is no fear of God before their eyes. 19 Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.
Without the Spirit one is under sin.
October 14, 2015 at 4:45 pm#803726NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
God always keeps a remnant.
The man Jesus who was born of woman and under the law was an overcomer.

Does the Spirit perform missions or did the Spirit abide in Jesus?
