give me any single translation that says in john 1.1 that the word is the father.
i double dare you
you may start searching now LOL
I could also turn the table on you and ask you for a single translation that says in Yahchanan [John] 1:1 that the word is the son.
Frank,Wisdom is said to be the daughter of Christ because Wisdom is a feminine word in Hebrew. Jammin is demonstrating a lack of knowledge as the Word is masculine in Greek.
The English language is not given to such ideas and they translate poorly.
The Word is the Son of God in Ancient Greek; just like Wisdom is the Daughter of God in Hebrew. They are neither in English.
kerwin,This is your idea of simplifying a message without compromising YOUR “God's” message so that the simple ones of this world can understand your language?
I found what you have posted here quite confusing!
Frank.I meant daughter of God and not daughter of Christ as I misspoke.
The Hebrew Noun that is translated to Wisdom is a feminine noun. This leads to the Hebrew language also using feminine pronouns to replace Wisdom in there converse about it.
Proverbs 8
King James Version (KJV)1Doth not wisdom cry? and understanding put forth her voice?
2She standeth in the top of high places, by the way in the places of the paths.
3She crieth at the gates, at the entry of the city, at the coming in at the doors.Matthew 11:19
King James Version (KJV)19The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold a man gluttonous, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. But wisdom is justified of her children.
In English the “she” and “her” become “it” as English is not Gender based.
Unlike English, Greek has gender based nouns. Word is a masculine noun and therefore the pronouns “he” and “his” are used to refer to Word.
It is a lesson in the difference in languages that I hope aids understanding. Both Ancient Greek and Hebrew are given to personification of nouns. This is misused by the corrupt and misunderstood by the ignorant.

April 6, 2012 at 5:50 am#290370NickHassanParticipantHi Jammin,
The pharisees thought that Jesus Christ saying he was the Son of God meant that he was EQUAL with God.
Do you agree with them?April 6, 2012 at 5:57 am#290380jamminParticipantnick,

Jammin;in Matthew 11:19:
Did Jesus call Wisdom her?
Did Jesus infer he was her child?
You know both answers are yes.
You also understand she is a personification so, as Job said, stop acting like a fool.
Word in John 1 is also a personification;which is well known; as Philo did the same according to the entry for Sophia(Wisdom) in Wikipedia.
Quote Philo, a Hellenised Jew writing in Alexandria, attempted to harmonise Platonic philosophy and Jewish scripture. Also influenced by Stoic philosophical concepts, he used the Greek term logos, “word,” for the role and function of Wisdom, a concept later adapted by the author of the Gospel of John in the opening verses and applied to Jesus Christ as the eternal Word (Logos) of God the Father.see note Note:
