As far as editing, you have to ask for that. I don't remember how many post you have to make before you get that right, tho.

In Eph 2:8,9 it is saying that we aren't saved by being “good” and doing things that are charitable but we are saved by the will of GOD and by faith. And we are baptized by faith.Ephesians 2:8-9 states that we are saved by faith, and faith alone. Any type of work does not save us. Titus 3:5 “
he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done…“Being 'baptized by faith' is an excuse, you're adding WORKS to salvation. Salvation is faith = salvation, but you made it into faith + WORKS = baptism. You're saying that we have to perform a specific work before are are saved. Saying that we are 'baptized by faith' changes nothing, because it requires we perform A WORK before we are saved.
You're no different from a Judaizer, who was a group of Jews that required circumcision for salvation. The only difference is baptism instead of circumcision. If St. Peter were here today, he could give you the same harsh rebuke that he did to the Judaizers.
You sound just like Tim off SCAE. Wait is that you???Jam 2:26 For as the body apart from the spirit is dead, even so faith apart from works is dead.

June 29, 2008 at 2:19 am#94762GeneBalthropParticipantNick…… so who says Baptism doesn't mean baptism, there was no argument about that everyone knows that.
Is our subject now changed to simplicity now? or are you still trying to insinuate and
falsely accuse again.June 29, 2008 at 6:16 am#94822NickHassanParticipantHi GB,
Some think they can choose what baptism means
and teach that it instead means being born of the Spirit.June 29, 2008 at 6:59 am#102518NickHassanParticipantHi A,
So being baptised is submission to scripture in obedience to God?
If we call that works what is not?June 29, 2008 at 6:59 am#209868NickHassanParticipantHi A,

We see things differently, obviously.
Eph 1:3 says that they heard the truth and then they BELIEVED the truth. Having believed, they were marked with the holy Spirit. Whether or not they were already baptized is speculation, at best. There is no indication that water baptism is needed to be counted as one of God's possessions.
For by grace we are saved…..by the mercy of God. There is nothing else we can add to that. Mercy is mercy. There is no requirement in mercy, it is simply handed down even though we don't deserve it. Praise God. If we can say we are water baptized, then perhaps we deserve salvation? But no, we can do nothing to earn this gift because it is freely given to us. Praise God, again.

Here are some jewels in Ephesians for salvation by faith alone and not by water baptism:
Ephesians 1:13
And you were also included in Christ when you heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation.Having believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised holy Spirit, which is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God's possession – the the praise of his glory.
“God's possession” – oh, that gives me chills. Love it.
Ephesians 2:8, 9
For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith – and this is not from yourselves, it is the gift of God – not by works so that no one can boast.
Hey a side note here, DK if you're listening….even our faith is a “gift” from God. Praise him for all the wonderful gifts he continues to give his children.
Hi not3,
Paul is writing to the saved.
Eph11Paul, an apostle of Jesus Christ by the will of God, to the saints which are at Ephesus, and to the faithful in Christ Jesus:
2Grace be to you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
They have gone through the gate of Jesus.
They have obeyed in faith God's demands
Paul's letters were circulated and I'm sure they were used as a guide to Christian living for the saved, and to the yet-to-be-saved.Paul does not mention that water baptism saves you alone. It is through obedience that it is followed, imo. But it cannot save you alone. If this were true then Jesus died for nothing.
John the Baptist told everyone that the water baptism he was doing was a foreshadow of what was to come….. When Jesus appeared he became less and Jesus became more. Baptism still took place for the remission of sins until Jesus gave his precious life!
Baptism was the foreshadowing of Christ's death, was it not?

June 29, 2008 at 7:20 am#102521NickHassanParticipantHi not3,
My point exactly.
He did not want to go back to teaching the basics of entry to the kingdom.
Those who have been saved need to move on to feeding on the bread of life and living out life in the Spirit of God.As the author of Hebrews wrote oin Ch6
1Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on unto perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith toward God,
2Of the doctrine of baptisms, and of laying on of hands, and of resurrection of the dead, and of eternal judgment.
3And this will we do, if God permit.
4For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted of the heavenly gift, and were made partakers of the Holy Ghost,
5And have tasted the good word of God, and the powers of the world to come,
6If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.
7For the earth which drinketh in the rain that cometh oft upon it, and bringeth forth herbs meet for them by whom it is dressed, receiveth blessing from God:
