Hi ED,
The water is not the issue.
It is explained in 1 peter 3 .
Repentance is the issue and folk do not know what this means.
Hi Nick,
Then you are saying that “water baptism” is not necessary for salvation or that it is?
Please quit being evasive.
August 4, 2015 at 1:47 pm#801674NickHassanParticipantHi ED,
John baptised a baptism of repentance.
But he told the Pharisees they must bring forth fruit of repentance.
It is a serious matter to be baptised.
There is only one true baptism-into Christ.
The denominations offer falsity as usual.

You like to make boxes for pseudofacts without allowing clarifications?

God decides who is saved.
Many will find His mercy outside of the way.
But wisdom suggests we should not just hope for mercy but obey him.
August 4, 2015 at 2:08 pm#801678Ed JParticipantHi Miia and Kerwin, read this…
“And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to
Ephesus: and finding certain disciples, He said unto them, Have ye received the HolySpirit since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any HolySpirit.
And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John’s baptism.
Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the HolySpirit came on them;
and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. And all the men were about twelve.” (Acts 19:1-7)They were baptized with God’s HolySpirit when Paul laid his hands on them, no mention
of a second ‘water baptism’??? To proclaim that it is, is reading into the text._______________
God bless
Ed JAugust 4, 2015 at 2:11 pm#801679kerwinParticipantterrarica,
strangely enough Matthew 28;19 does not appear in the Hebrew version of Matthew gospel, and what is more strange is that the command is given to the apostles and yet they are the ones that mostly not doing the command ?
I am not sure what you mean as the apostles did immerse student-followers in the name of Christ. We do not have record of all the apostles ministries.

Hi Nick,
Quit beating around the bush, do you believe “water baptism” is necessary for salvation or not?
Please give a clear answer.
August 4, 2015 at 2:38 pm#801681kerwinParticipantEd,
Paul did not baptize with the Holy Spirit as he did not and does not have the authority to give the Holy Spirit. Jesus had to live a life in which he did not sin even though being tempted as is common to man and then die in order for the Spirit; in its role of concealer to come. John teaches us that Jesus is the one the baptizes us with both the Holy Ghost and fire.
In Acts 19:1-7 they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus is written before the laying on of hand by Paul. The laying of hands also bestowed gifts on them. You see the same pattern in Acts 8:14-17 where immersion in Jesus’ name occurs separate from the laying on of hands.
Jesus’ command was to make student-followers of all nations immersing them and teaching them to obey all he things he taught the apostles. Both of these passages show Paul and the apostles followed that pattern.
August 4, 2015 at 2:39 pm#801682NickHassanParticipantHi ED,
Is it taught in scripture or do you just like arguing?
The role of teachers is to show what is written and not just have opinions.
If listeners do not choose to obey God what value is our opinions to them?

The gifts come with the baptism of the Spirit.

I’m not telling you or anyone else not to be “water baptized”.
I asked you a simple question, which you are clearly avoiding.A simple “I don’t Know” will do; “I don’t know” is established as an answer
to yes or no questions. You claim to know, yet you refuse to answer. Why?August 4, 2015 at 2:56 pm#801689NickHassanParticipantHi ED,
The reverse of your question is equally valid;
“If you are not baptised in the name of Jesus can God save you?”
would you kindly answer this?

what I said is clear; one more thing in Matt 28;19 it says also to be baptized in the name of the holy spirit ;what is the name of the holy spirit ? and where in scriptures does it say to be baptized in the name of the holy spirit ?
I know of in the name of Jesus ,but please answer
August 4, 2015 at 3:09 pm#801694NickHassanParticipantHi ED,
What scripture does say is
“Unless you repent you will all likewise perish”
So is the repentance or the water the more vital requirement?

Hi Nick, *The question is about “Water baptism”.
“If you are not *WATER baptized* in the name of Jesus can God save you?” …YES
The baptism of God’s HolySpirit is necessary for salvation, “water baptism” in any name is not.
Now here’s my question to you:
Does “baptized in the name of Jesus”, to you, mean “water baptism”?August 4, 2015 at 3:15 pm#801696Ed JParticipantin Matt 28;19 it says also to be baptized in the name of the holy spirit ;what is the name of the holy spirit ?
“The Word”
