Hi ,
Acts 17
And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:31 Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.
32 And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.
33 So Paul departed from among them.
34 Howbeit certain men clave unto him, and believed: among the which was Dionysius the Areopagite, and a woman named Damaris, and others with them.
God even got a crop there-grace

Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.Washing the conscience

Kerwin. If one worships technology,he is worshipping an
idol made by mans hands.
The same with loving money or football.wakeup.

In a way what you say is true but the citizens of Athens worship various gods and crafted idols to represent those gods. That was the religion of those pagans.

The spirit of religion leads men to fashion their own idols reflecting themselves and their ideas.April 12, 2014 at 7:26 am#377469terrariccaParticipantHi

T,I have seen atheists that are more religious than those that say they believe in God.
Note: I am using religious as a synonym of zealous.

Water baptism is in the name of Jesus Christ.
Spirit baptism also is essential
Acts 19April 22, 2014 at 10:23 pm#379056terrariccaParticipantHI
where does it say that the baptism of spirit is water baptism
April 22, 2014 at 10:28 pm#379058NickHassanParticipantHi T,
It doesn't.
They are separateActs 19
And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain disciples,2 He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost.
3 And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism.
4 Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus.
5 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.
6 And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied.
7 And all the men were about twelve.

Acts8
5 Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.6 And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
7 For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
8 And there was great joy in that city.
9 But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
10 To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
11 And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
12 But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
13 Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
14 Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
15 Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
16 (For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
17 Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.

Nso according to those scriptures water baptism was for Jews but it was not the channel to obtain the holy spirit that was given through the imposing of the hands right
April 23, 2014 at 2:37 pm#379131kerwinParticipantTo whomever it may concern,
Is one part of a key the key?
Getting immersed in water is one part of the gospel.
April 23, 2014 at 3:19 pm#379137GeneBalthropParticipantTerricca…….Water baptism is for the confession of our Faith in Christ Jesus, but one must also receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit , and that can be a separate event. It is given by the laying on of Hands with prayer, in most cases, IMO> Both i believe are needed, our open confession of Faith in Christ Jesus and the receiving of the Holy Spirit.
peace and love to you an yours………………………………….gene

Kerwin. One can be baptised with water ten times, but if he is not given the HS; is because something is not right in the eyes of God.
Man can baptise anyone with water;but Jesus does not baptise just anyone with the HS.Paul was given the HS before he was baptised with water in Christ.
wakeup.

Nick.But what does that mean?
That means that one can be baptised with the HS,
without being baptised with water.
The water baptism will surely follow after.Who baptised John the baptist?
wakeup.
April 23, 2014 at 10:55 pm#379173NickHassanParticipantHi WU,
Will surely?
The will of man must submit and obey. Why did John need baptising?
Lk1
13 But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John.14 And thou shalt have joy and gladness; and many shall rejoice at his birth.
15 For he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, and shall drink neither wine nor strong drink; and he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb.
