Careful not to criticise God’s own laws
Gravity is a law, so that is nothing with respect for an actual thing like a rope or cable hanging the earth. Try to think of God as a lawmaker and his laws are his word. He spoke creation into being, I imagine that has something to do with laws of which he also has moral laws that too need to be respected. And if you rubbish the Law of Gravity, are you really rubbishing the lawmaker indirectly? I know you would never do that intentionally as I believe you are a genuine believer and decent person, but just saying that ignorance is a legitimate excuse sometimes, but just tread carefully is all I am saying. We need to fear the creator or respect him. Remember that angels who are greater than us at the moment wouldn’t dare speak badly of God and I would imagine that would include not criticise that which he made with his own hand.
May 19, 2018 at 8:23 am#826464ProclaimerParticipantFor the invisible things of Him, from the creation of the world, are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and godhead; so that they are without excuse.
Look at this verse and tell me if the current understanding of the universe reflects God’s eternal power. Of course it does. But does a Flat Earth reflect his eternal power or just his power? That very finite Earth and dome reflects power, but infinite power?
I will tell you this. A floating Earth and dome is impressive, but something that man could might be able achieve if he was given another thousand years after terraforming other planets to gain experience. The universe as it turns out is much bigger and shows that the creator is eternal. No one has an excuse. No one but the Most High could have done this. Any sensible person stands in awe at the handiwork of God. Like I said before, even Atheists are blown away by the magnificence and size of the known universe. Even all the angels after billions of years couldn’t do what God has done. He stands alone as the Most High.
May 19, 2018 at 8:23 am#826465NickHassanParticipantHi Dig4,
Gravity is indeed tangible.
Trip over the stumbling stone and you will fall towards the earth.
May 19, 2018 at 8:25 am#826466ProclaimerParticipantSomething hangs the earth that is like nothing. My guess is gravity or God’s own laws.
May 19, 2018 at 8:34 am#826467ProclaimerParticipantGravity is part of your theory, please tell us if it is a tangible thing or not. I won’t hold you to this challange very strongly because I don’t believe that anyone has identified exactly “what” gravity is.
Newton discovered gravity and his calculations work every time. But he couldn’t picture it. It was Einstein that gave us the picture. I can explain it to you of you really want. I do understand it. But if you want a better teacher, just look for a Youtube video on the subject. But I will give you a heads up so you know what you are looking for.
Imagine a bucket of water and you place a tennis ball in the centre of the bucket. It floats right. Now spin that tennis ball and what happens? The water starts to spin with the tennis ball right. Now put a ping pong ball near the outer rim of the bucket and what does it do. It orbits the tennis ball right? Likewise, space is like that water it is not nothing. It is a fabric or substance. BTW, this is also a good description as to why the spinning earth drags the atmosphere with it.
Now think about a fish, does it know about water? Does it think that water is nothing in the same way we sort of think of air is nothing. Well it turns out that space is not nothing either and it even has a measurable weight.
In short, heavy objects like the sun sink deep into this substance we call space and that attracts smaller objects toward it. So what stops them from falling toward the heavy object all the way. It is the small objects own gravitational force that stops that and the two objects gain equilibrium which becomes the orbital distance between them.
May 19, 2018 at 9:59 am#826469Dig4truthParticipantT8: “So why fight to convince people that God’s creation is smaller than what discoveries point to, when today’s increased knowledge shows us a creation that can only be made by an eternal being. Even Atheists are in awe at the universe, its size, precision, and spectacular phenomena. All Flat Earthers are going to convince people of is someone made a dome and it could easily be advanced aliens or even other humans who have placed us inside a zoo or made us part of a reality TV programme for their entertainment.”
If you think that the vastness of space is drawing people to God then you should really read their own literature! It alludes to our insignificance and not God’s greatness. Please don’t even try to dispute this.
The human race will disappear. Other races will appear and disappear in turn. The sky will become icy and void, pierced by the feeble light of half-dead stars. Which will also disappear. Everything will disappear. And what human beings do is just as free of sense as the free motion of elementary particles. Good, evil, morality, feelings? Pure ‘Victorian fictions’. Only egotism exists.
The world is a pretty big place, but when you compare it to the rest of the universe you realise just how insignificant you are.
Earth orbits one of the hundreds of billions of stars in our galaxy, which in turn is one of hundreds of billions in the observable universe. This apparent insignificance fits with the Copernican principle that our planet is not the center of the cosmos but simply a mediocre member of a mediocre solar system.
Who are we? We find that we live on an insignificant planet of a humdrum star lost in a galaxy tucked away in some forgotten corner of a universe in which there are far more galaxies than people.
May 19, 2018 at 10:05 am#826470NickHassanParticipantHi Dig4,
You quote the ideas of unbelievers as some sort of fruit of scientific understanding?
And you use your loose attachment to scripture as a preferable foundation?
Your quasi religious justifications for your bizarre ideas are nonsense.

First off, I will admit that from what I can tell you are a genuine believer as well and a decent person. Secondly, where does it mention anything about gravity in the Bible? What does it say? It says that “The earth and all who dwell in it melt; It is I who have firmly set its pillars. Selah.”
No mention of gravity but pillars.
We shouldn’t equate the teachings of man with the Word of God.
May 19, 2018 at 10:50 am#826472NickHassanParticipantHi Dig4,
Neither should we equate your shallow interpretations with the word of God.
May 19, 2018 at 11:00 am#826473NickHassanParticipantHi Dig4,
Scripture uses the word PILLAR usually metaphorically in relationship to human leaders, including church leaders as in 1 Tim and Galatians.
Daughters too can as be pillars.
In your efforts to be pure have you become legalistic and defined God’s work by your definitions?
May 19, 2018 at 11:57 am#826474Dig4truthParticipantNick, do you know the difference between an interpretation and a literal meaning?
If I said I had a footstool that has three pillars would you contend that it had three people, leaders or daughters that held it up? Or might you conclude that it indeed had three actual pillars? Would I then call you shallow for your conclusion? Of course I wouldn’t because that wouldn’t be brotherly.
Nick, I have a judge – job filled. Sorry, but I’m not looking for another.
May 19, 2018 at 12:03 pm#826475NickHassanParticipantHi Dig4,
You do realise that scripture interprets scripture?
Should we reach first for a dictionary?
May 19, 2018 at 12:10 pm#826476Dig4truthParticipantNo Nick, you should definitely reach for a Bible.
May 19, 2018 at 12:13 pm#826477NickHassanParticipantHi Dig4,
Yes.
Don’t shoot the messenger.
May 19, 2018 at 12:27 pm#826478GeneBalthropParticipantDig4truth….You say no mention of gravity in scriptures, wrong again, what does this mean to you.
Luke 21:25-26….AND there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and waves roaring; 26, Men’s hearts failing them (heart attacks ) for fear, and looking after those things which are comming on the earth:, (now pay close attention) , for the “POWERS OF HEAVEN” shall be shaken.
Now ask yourself what are the “POWERS OF HEAVEN) are they not the (GRAVATONAL PULLS) the lock the planets in the HEAVENS TOGETHER?
TO ME THAT MEANS SOMETHING IS GOING TO INTERRUPT THE GRAVITATIONAL PULLS BY PASSING THROUGH OUR GALAXY AND AS A RESULT THE EARTH WILL GO TO AND FRO LIKE A DRUNKER AS IT STAGERS THROUGH IT’S ORBIT. CAUSING OUR OCEANS TIDEDS TO ROAR, PERHAPS 300 HUNDRED FOOT TUSMIES, MILLIONS ON THIS EARTH WILL POSSIBLY DIE FROM THIS EVENT, WHICH HAPPENS JUST PRIOR TO JESUS RETURN.
THIS IS REPEATED THREE TIMES IN OUR SCRIPTURES AS I RECALL. ALSO in ISA 24:19-20, IT TALKS ABOUT THE EARTH GOING TO AND FRO LIKE A DRUNKARD.
THAT TAKES PLACE BECAUSE THE GRAVATONAL BETWEEN THE EARTH AND MOON, AND SUN IS DISRUPTED. IMO
IF IT WEREN’T FOR THOSE GRAVATONAL PULLS OF THE SUN, MOON, EARTH AND OTBER PLANETS OUR COMPLETE GALEXY WOULD SIMPLY FLY APART. Those pulls lock the positions of the planets.
Peace and love to you and yours. ……gene
May 19, 2018 at 12:28 pm#826479NickHassanParticipantHi Dig4,
This game of ‘ I believe this, prove me wrong’ can only indulge man’s pride.
You have higher spiritual hopes I am sure.
May 19, 2018 at 12:30 pm#826480Dig4truthParticipantPsalm 74:16-18 Yours is the day, Yours also is the night; You have prepared the light and the sun.
17 You have established all the boundaries of the earth; You have made summer and winter.
18 Remember this, O Lord, that the enemy has reviled, And a foolish people has spurned Your name. The light AND the sun? Boundaries of a spherical earth? Where’s the end of a sphere?
May 19, 2018 at 12:58 pm#826481mikeboll64BlockedMike: I’ve addressed this numerous times, and you just keep repeating the same thing without answering my points.
14 “Let there be lights in the firmament…
15 And it was so.
16 God made two great lights…
17 God set them in the firmament…
19 And there was evening, and there was morning—the fourth day.
Your interpretation goes directly against God’s written word. And the shame of it is that, even though you keep refusing to come out and say it, the ONLY reason you try to mangle the scriptures like that is because you believe what godless men have told you (not proven, but just TOLD you) over what God Himself told you through Moses. And that, my friend, is disheartening.
T8: If the first day has no sun despite God creating the heavens and the earth on that day, what makes it a day if there is also a morning and evening?
Two great lights appear in the firmanant on day 4, what is the problem with that? Even if they didn’t exist before day 4, then God could easily have created the Earth like a programmer creates a virtual world. He can work on the creation in any order he sees fit.
- We’re not told how God figured days before the sun and moon, nor what the original light was.
- Scripture says God MADE the lights on day four – not caused them to appear.
- Yes, He can work in any order, but thankfully He told us the order… down to which day He created which things.
T8, do you agree that Genesis says God MADE the sun, moon, and stars on day FOUR? Yes or No, please?
May 19, 2018 at 1:00 pm#826482AndrewADParticipantMany preachers like to say the” laws of nature” and various “spiritual laws” are God’s laws when no such things are found in the bible and these same people claim to be sticklers for the Word. Some even say God doesn’t break these laws yet if these are laws and the bible is to be believed then certainly he does. Did God break the law of gravity by Jesus ascending to heaven? or maybe Jesus just didn’t have much respect for that law?
May 19, 2018 at 1:06 pm#826483ProclaimerParticipantWe cannot fathom all that God has made and has done
If you think that the vastness of space is drawing people to God then you should really read their own literature! It alludes to our insignificance and not God’s greatness. Please don’t even try to dispute this.
Dig4tgruth, men will reject God no matter what, even if someone came back from the dead, they still wouldn’t believe. But it is obvious that an eternal or near eternal creation not only demands all the more that there is a creator, but that the creator is eternal. His eternal power is demonstrated in his creation so that men are without excuse. But some will always find an excuse even in the face of increased knowledge about the universe.
As for insignificance, you are thinking carnally. Does the sun have a soul. Is it endowed with God’s spirit so that it lives? It is plain to see that conscious beings are more important. My children may pale in size compared to the house they live in, but they are infinitely more valuable. The house is for them, not them for the house. Likewise with creation. God has demonstrated his eternal power and given us a place not only to inhabit but to explore. And it is fitting that the further we look, we see more. We should never be able to see the end of his work or fathom the total work that he has done. No, we will spend eternity learning new things all the time. It will never get boring.
But here is the thing. looking out from our eyes, we are the centre. But the real centre is God. The Earth is not the centre. It is but a physical planet that pales in value to even one child of God. If we let the different size and scale of things dictate to us what is more valuable, we are being foolish.
