    Hi T,
Thos that have been Spiritually anointed and obedient are ever alive to the God of the living, like Abraham, Isaac Jacob etc. They cannot die in the second death.

Some met with Jesus on the mountain.

    Ok,
It has to be to do with comparing natural life with drawing water at the well.
So the bucket [Golden bowl] is suspended in the well by a rope [Silver cord] over a pulley[Wheel]and the water is kept in the container[Pitcher].
So is life drawing water from the Well of God? I guess the people had to draw water every day to live so life is one day at a time.
Death means all of the implements are destroyed. It is then irreversible in the natural sense. Even if some of those things survived you might figure out a way of getting to that water.

So the Golden Bowl is Gold because it touches the source of the water-God.
The cord is silver because it also comes close to that source. The pulley changes the direction of the rope from the vertical plane to the horizontal plane so it enables the gift to transfer from the heavenly to the earthly plane. Looking down that well is confusing but on planet earth we can understand and use the water.
We are the fragile clay vessel which is our body, the pitcher. It cannot go down the well itself as it is too weak and small. It is useless unless it contains water but that function is vital too. When it breaks it spills that water on land and it does not return down the well but waits in the land for the resurrection.
Jesus told us that the water he gives can become a fountain within us leaping up to provide eternal life[zoe].So we would no longer need the well and even if the pitcher broke there would still be eternal life here for us.

That is a start so who will correct or add?

    Nick

What is death? seems like a ridiculous question.
Death is being dead, it's not being alive; it means you stop breathing.

Psa 104:29 Thou hidest thy face, they are troubled: thou takest away their breath, they die, and return to their dust.

Only you would try to make something else out of it.

    Nick

No, no one is dead to God, except those that have been condemned to the second death; and that will not happen until Jesus begins to reign.

Hbr 11:17 ¶ By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,

Hbr 11:39 And these all, having obtained a good report through faith, received not the promise:

Hbr 11:40 God having provided some better thing for us, that they without us should not be made perfect.

Rom 5:12 ¶ Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

The reason we all die is

Rom 6:23 For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.

That is why Jesus was sent into the world, to take away our sins and the peanalty for sin, which is death. But what most people don't understand is,

1Cr 15:22 For as in Adam all die,

Yes, we all have sinned and deserve death, but we in fact die for Adams sin, it made him unclean and all of his descendants, meaning, we were doomed to die before we had committed a sin; that is the reason we all will die the first time.

1Cr 15:21 For since by man (Adam) came death, by man (Jesus) came also the resurrection of the dead.

Jesus, dying for our sins, has guaranteed us a resurrection.

1Cr 15:22 …, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.

This will happen during the millennium, but not all at once,

1Cr 15:23 But every man in his own order:…

It is during this period, when all the resurrected will be taught by Jesus Christ, and those that “WILL” not listen, will die again.

Act 3:23 And it shall come to pass, that every soul, which will not hear that prophet (Jesus), shall be destroyed from among the people.

That would be your second death in which not only the body is destroyed, but your spirit/mind as well.

This is not in response to anyone's post, I just thought it was fitting hear since it is about WHO or rather WHAT brought forth death.

I am SO SICK of the story of fallen angels and the story of how the serpent in the garden was a fallen angel. Such has to be one of the greatest LIES ever told IMO.

Genesis 2:16  And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat;  17 but of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat of it you shall surely die.”

To take of the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil brings forth death.

Romans 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.

Romans 8:13 For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live…. 6  For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God; for it is not subject to the law of God, nor indeed can be.  8  So then, those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

    Proverbs 3:5 Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding;

Genesis 8:21 And the Lord smelled a soothing aroma. Then the Lord said in His heart, “I will never again curse the ground for man's sake, although the imagination of man's heart is evil from his youth; nor will I again destroy every living thing as I have done.

Adam was being warned in the garden that if he followed his own understanding, to trust in it over God, that it would lead him into DEATH. The Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil represented man's ability to think separately from God, and to think apart from God is to be separated from truth and therefore the creation of DECEIT would be inevitable!! The imagination of man is evil from his YOUTH. The imagination in man is what needs to be instructed and refined by God. Our imagination is a wonderful thing, it is what makes us individuals with a unique personality, however it is also responsible for creating deceit.

Micah 7:17 They shall lick the dust like a serpent; They shall crawl from their holes like snakes of the earth. They shall be afraid of the Lord our God, And shall fear because of You.

Genesis 3:7 Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.  8 And they heard the sound of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the Lord God among the trees of the garden.  9  Then the Lord God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?”  10  So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”

Genesis 3:14 So the Lord God said to the serpent: “Because you have done this, You are cursed more than all cattle, And more than every beast of the field; On your belly you shall go, And you shall eat dust All the days of your life.  15 And I will put enmity Between you and the woman, And between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, And you shall bruise His heel.”

The CARNAL MIND is at enmity with God. Jesus overcame that carnal nature, he followed the Spirit and put to death man's sinful nature. The serpent was not a vessel of which some fallen angel was talking through. The serpent itself is said to be the most cunning beast God had made on earth. The serpent was punished into being a creature full of fear. the mind of man is the most cunning creature God had made. Adam and Eve the second they realized they had been wrong hid themselves in fear. When man follows after his own understanding he is like an ignorant serpent or beast.

2 Peter 2:12 But these, like natural brute beasts made to be caught and destroyed, speak evil of the things they do not understand, and will utterly perish in their own corruption,

When man follows his own understanding he is following ignorance and pride, he speaks deceit and it is his OWN corruption.

Judas was called the devil by Jesus for the thoughts that entered into him came from his own corrupted mind. Peter was called Satan for having IN MIND the things OF MEN. The dragon represents Kings who also are following after their OWN carnal minds.

The serpent in the garden represented that which exists in every man, the ability to corrupt God's truth through our own imaginations.

Sin and death did not come into the world through some fallen angel.

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man sin entered the world, and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men, because all sinned–

The mind of Adam was the serpent in the garden. He created the deceit, and then Eve chose to eat of it and then Adam ate of it as well.

Adam and Eve lived according to their flesh, and God had warned Adam through the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil, that if they did so it would bring forth death.

The Carnal Mind of Man brought forth DEATH

    Hi Jodi,
Yes man entered the dominion of Satan in the garden and has been under his control ever since.
Jesus came to give men freedom from this oppression and the blessing of God's eternal living Spirit

    Hi Jodi,
The 'serpent' or satan or the devil [rev] is the god of this world and men are in the dominion of darkness.
The light of the world came to take men from this dominion into the light but men prefer darkness.

Sin in the flesh controls men and involves them in their activities which are offensive to God so all sin.

Freedom and forgiveness is available in Jesus to cleanse and reconcile men with their one true God.

    Hi Jodi,
It is the salvation of the soul that is the plan of God.[1Peter]

So when a man dies and his spirit returns to God [ecc12] and his flesh returns to the dust of earth then his soul awaits the time of judgement in Sheol[ hades, the pit] or the bosom of Abraham and the mansions of Christ.

    Hi Jodi,
If a man is the only enemy he faces here then his situation is hopeless.

The good news Jesus taught us includes the revelation that we do have spiritual enemies in high places who are enemies of God and want to use us too to work against God.

Not only does he offer us freedom from sin and the burden of guilt that gives the accuser of the brethren leverage against us we are told God will crush this enemy under our feet.[Rom15]

Man entered into the trust of his own carnal mind over that of God.

Jesus came to prove that we must be born of God's Spirit in order to overcome the world that lives in the darkness of carnal nature. The men who loved the darkness over the Gospel, did so obviously because they were not born of the Spirit. A man of the flesh is NOT going to hear the gospel, he must first be born of the Spirit, which in due time will occur for EVERY MAN!!

John 3:6 that which hath been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which hath been born of the Spirit is spirit.

The carnal mind is the god of this world.

Romans 16:18 For those who are such do not serve our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly, and by smooth words and flattering speech deceive the hearts of the simple.

The god we serve that keeps us in darkness is our own belly, our own desires that is aroused by our flesh.

Philippians 3:19 whose end is destruction, whose god is their belly, and whose glory is in their shame–who set their mind on earthly things.

The second death represents the DEATH of the Carnal Mind, for those entering into the lake of fire will be consumed with God's Spirit having all sin burned away.

    Hi Jodi,
The mind is a god to many but is not the god of this world.
So also the belly is a god for the godless.

Man in the domain of darkness is subject to idolatry of many forms.

The mind must be transformed by renewal so is useful to God and man.
But Adam chose servitude to another god.

    Hi Jodi,
We cannot hear the gospel if we are not of the Spirit??

The gospel is the seed that goes up to eternal life and no man is naturally born of the Spirit.

You must be reborn from above.

    Hi Jodi:

From what translation of the bible did you quote the following scripture?

    Quote
Romans 7:5 For when we were in the flesh, the sinful passions which were aroused by the law were at work in our members to bear fruit to death.

The reason that I am asking is that I don't believe that sin “is aroused by the law” but it is by the law that we know that we have sinned.

    Love in Christ,
    Marty
