But just like those curtains that were joined “one to her sister” weren't really “female curtains”, wisdom being referred to as a female doesn't mean the wisdom in Proverbs 8 was a female entity either.

So while I agree with you that Jesus will literally rule WITH power and wisdom from God, the fact remains that Paul poetically CALLS Jesus “the power and wisdom of God”.

And that lends credence to the thought that Jesus is also the one who was CALLED “wisdom” in Proverbs 8.

After all, everything else said about wisdom in Prov 8 matches things also said elsewhere about Jesus. Nor does it make any sense that God was literally without wisdom in the beginning, and therefore had to create literal wisdom for Himself.

To all……….The Spirit of WISDOM, is simply an ATTRIBUTE and is never a real person , even if it is personified in scriptures as a women, it is NOT THE MAN JESUS CHRIST. The scriptures that says .”HE BECAME TO US THE WISDOM OF GOD, is just telling us that Jesus shows us the wisdom of GOD who worked out our salvation THROUGH HIM The whole Plan and Purpose of Jesus was brought about through the WISDOM of GOD, existing from the foundations of the earth. No where does any scripture say wisdom is an actual person of any kind, WISDOM IS THE CHIFE OF THE SEVEN SPIRIT ATTRIBUTES OF GOD. The LORD uses his Wisdom in all of CREATED WORKS HE DOES.

Those who try make Christ Jesus Into wisdom himself or even try to make the “ATTRIBUTE” of wisdom into a real person of any kind have no idea what they are talking about, just more MYSTERY RELIGIOUS CONFUSIONS. IMO

Indeed.  In 1 Cor 1:23, Christ is poetically referred to as “the wisdom of God”.  Paul was not saying that Jesus Christ is LITERALLY all the wise thoughts and knowledge that God has.

It is a good reference back to Proverbs 8 though, where Christ is also poetically referred to as the wisdom of God.  No doubt Paul had this proverb in mind when he wrote 1 Cor 1:23.

    Mike,

Proverbs 8 speaks of Wisdom, who is a female.

    Hi Kerwin,

Gal.3:26   For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. 27For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. 28There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. 29And if ye [be] Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

there is neither   male nor female:   for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

Matt.22:30   For in the resurrection they neither marry nor are given in marriage, but are like angels in heaven.

    Peace brother…

There are also those that choose cherry pick what particular type of way they want to translate each part and so Wisdom becomes Jesus and the gender of both Wisdom and Jesus becomes irrelevant. I simply take it that is a poetic form and Wisdom is godly wisdom, which has no characteristic of gender.

Jesus is Wisdom in the same way God is Love.

Abe……..The man (our brother) Jesus does indeed have the Seven “EYES” of God which “ARE” the Seven Spirit of GOD, and he has them with the Seven “Horns” (POWERS), that go with them, and with these He shall execute Judgment with Power, in the Earth as the Messiah (anointed one by GOD)  When he returns to rule for a Thousand year Period, and it is God in truth ruling through Him by His Seven Spirit, and that is exactly why it says ” Thy Kingdom “O GOD”,  is an “EVERLASTING” KINGDOM, It is the SEVEN Spirit of GOD in Jesus guiding His rule , Just like he said when he was on this earth < the SON of Man can do “NOTHING of HIMSELF”,the Father “IN” me “HE” doth the works.  The same hold true for his Kingdom rule, and that is why he turns it back to God at the end of the Millennial reign, and he (the man Jesus) becomes subject to it also just as we all will be , like it says

    T,

He “grew in” implies he had a certain level but that level got larger as his body matured. The Spirit was teaching him so I believe that even the lower level of his youth exceeded those of his age group.

    Abe,

There is a interpretation that the seven eyes of God go throughout the world and report back to God the wonders they have seen. During one such foray Satan accompanied them and Jehovah asked him what he thought of his servant Job.

The lamb was sacrificed as the first Passover to rescue the people of God from the angel of death.

Jesus sacrificed himself to rescue God's people and God brought him back to life, then levated him over the seven authorities and seven watchers.

    Mike,

It seems to me that when Paul calls Jesus the wisdom of God that he was speaking of revelation of Wisdom in God's plan of salvation and Jesus' role in it.

The description of Wisdom in Proverbs 8 have some verses that jar with Jesus being Wisdom but it can be seen he has clearly has come to embody it by his actions.

Jesus, as the archetype Son, addressed all through the book of Proverbs.

    For example:

    Proverbs 1:8
    Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

8 My son, hear the instruction of thy father,
and forsake not the law of thy mother:

    Proverbs 1:10
    Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)

10 My son, if sinners entice thee, consent thou not.

I am not sure how that plays into what we are talking about except to say that the Son was instructed to heed Wisdom's call.

That is the best explanation that I can come up with.  It isn't easy to understand.

If you read from the 1st verse, it is understood that it is God who is speaking. I am not a scholar and so I don't know, but it appears that the last part of verse 16 may be mistranslated. It would make more sense if it would read: “and now the Lord God and His Spirit has sent him”.

Abe…….The LORD  in many cases spoke First person through his servants, because they are being moved by his Spirit to speak his word to others.  GOD abides “in” them,  God was in his servant Isaiah by virtue of His spirit . This also applied to Jesus, at times The LORD YAHWEH  our GOD, spoke first person through him, and indeed it was  not Jesus speaking at times,  but the LORD our GOD who is SPIRIT, was speaking through him directly, This I believe also applied to Isaiah the servant of God. GOD can reveal things in our minds or speak directly through our mouths at other times, he does both .

This is also done with Angels , like for instance the words that the angel in the burning bush spoke to Moses. It appears in scripture as if God was speaking First person and he was, but through an Angel mouth in a burning bush. IMO

Peace and love to you and yours. ……………………………gene

Blessed are all who truly understand this Brother. IMO

peace and love to you and yours brother……………………………gene

    Hi Gene,

Is.48:16    Draw near to me, hear this:
from the beginning I have not spoken in secret,
from the time it came to be I have been there.”
And now the Lord GOD has sent me, and his Spirit.

Who do you think is talking here?

    Peace brother………….

    Hi Abe:

I believe that God was stating that Cyrus was foreordained
for the specific assignment of defeating babylonia.

    Quote
Isa 48:14   All ye, assemble yourselves, and hear; which among them hath declared these [things]? The LORD hath loved him: he will do his pleasure on Babylon, and his arm [shall be on] the Chaldeans.

Isa 48:15   I, [even] I, have spoken; yea, I have called him: I have brought him, and he shall make his way prosperous.

Isa 48:16   Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there [am] I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

    Hi Marty,

Is.49:1   Listen to Me, O islands, And pay attention, you peoples from afar. The LORD called Me from the womb; From the body of My mother He named Me.

2  He has made My mouth like a sharp sword, In the shadow of His hand He has concealed Me; And He has also made Me a select arrow, He has hidden Me in His quiver.

3  He said to Me, “You are My Servant, Israel, In Whom I will show My glory.”

3   He   said to   ‘Me',    “You are My Servant,   *Israel*,   In Whom I will show My glory.”

Ex.4:22   “Then you shall say to Pharaoh, 'Thus says the LORD,   “Israel   is My son, My    *Firstborn*.

Heb.1:1   God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways,

2  in these last days has spoken to us   IN   His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world.

Heb.12:22   But you have come to Mount Zion and to the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to myriads of angels,

23  to the general assembly and  Church   Of the  *Firstborn*   who are enrolled in heaven, and to God, the Judge of all, and to the spirits of the righteous made perfect,

24  and to Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant, and to the sprinkled blood, which speaks better than the blood of Abel.

    Peace brother………
