Tyson said the shape of the earth can be determined by three wells, or did I hear that wrong?
Proclaimer replied to the topic Flat Earth Debate: Mike Vs. Proclaimer in the forum Debates 8 years, 2 months ago
Can the size and/or shape of the earth be determined by observing two shadows? YES or NO?
I don’t know Mike, but I assume this is the case with Eratosthenes observation and Tyson seems to back him up. At least I think that is what the video was saying at least.
But I do not know the answer. It seems like it could be true though, but I think y…[Read more]

My best guess for 2 shadows is you first have to assume the world is round, then yes, you could probably work out the circumference. My thinking if Tyson is right, then there is a 50% chance of the world being round or flat on the outset at least. It is possible if Tyson is correct that Eratosthenes saw the result as pointing to the round earth…[Read more]

It’s a shame that you cannot understand a clear scripture. He was born the Christ that day. It is written. Your view doesn’t matter.

LOL. You can’t use the thing you’re trying to prove (a curved horizon) as evidence that the observation proves the thing you’re trying to prove. I think they call it begging the question
You can if there is a huge body of evidence for something. While one piece of evidence on its own cannot absolutely prove it, with the sheer amount of other…[Read more]

The log and speck in my post is not about hypocracy, but evidence. Might need to read it again.

He was born the Christ, the Lord, and the son of God. That is what scripture says. It is what I believe. I do not deny that he is and was the Christ.

Hi T8,
Your ongoing deep seated bitter antagonism and accusations against some here is the elephant in the room.
Can you never accept the views of others without such a reaction?
So you dish it out, but can’t handle it when it is served back?
You have been speaking to people in this manner for years including me, so that is how I dialogue with…[Read more]

Hi T8,
So you are saying you can only find the truth in yourself and we should ignore what others say?
That does make sense for you, as your traditional roots are exposed.
No Nick. Not saying that. Have another guess.

Haven’t researched this because I think you are heading in the direction of Neil deGrasse Tyson talking about that guy who worked out the circumference using two wells and measuring the shadows cast inside them. If so, I will let you ask another question as that is a wasted question. We both already know that two wells can point to either model.…[Read more]

You laugh?
Yes Mike. The weight of evidence is firmly stacked on one side and it is not the Flat Earth side.
I posted a later video showing a small boat on the near side and a large tanker on the far side.
Why is that video and other videos of big boats half invisible not good enough, but a small boat is?
Your evidence is the speck and the…[Read more]

Back to the small boat vs big boat. This video demonstrates it.

Um no. The moon doesn’t have a glossy finish. I have walls in the house that are a matte finish or wallpaper. Lights do not reflect of the walls. If I painted them with a gloss paint. then I would likely see this effect.

Where is your verifiable proof that one object is “on the near side of the horizon” – as opposed to another object that isn’t?
Mike. If the boat is on the near side of the horizon, then it explains it. It is small, so would be easy for it to disappear. What you are doing is saying this small boat is on the other side of the horizon and you igno…[Read more]

Don’t know Mike. I will research this a bit and try and come back with a yes or no.

Great Mike. This will keep points in check.

Mike.
Post me the single biggest evidence for a Flat Earth besides your rendering of the scripture and I will focus on that.
While I am doing the hard yards on that, I would appreciate some evidence from you as to why you think Madagascar exists.

TBH Mike, your comments about these images proves nothing about a globe or flat earth. It just proves that it is hard to take an image of the whole earth as these are composites. Satellites are not usually far out enough and most rockets which are few that head to other planets were designed and paid for research on those planets, not the Earth.…[Read more]

Mike, you know these 2d graphs / models you put up. You realise they are not entirely accurate. For a start distances and sizes are all wrong. They are shown this way to demonstrate the point. Otherwise if you scaled everything, it would be too hard to see them. Further, 2D misses out a whole other dimension. I remember watching a video that shows…[Read more]

Mike, you have me experimenting with my camera a lot more now. This was taken in the weekend. The air is very clear this time of the year. I will probably go out to the main southern coastline when I get the chance and see if I can do a boat going over the horizon. This vantage point has the South Island in the way. That is a distance of about 80…[Read more]
