Gene, I seriously doubt that your motive is truth. A true seeker who believes in Jesus Christ believes scripture and derives doctrine from there. They don’t start with doctrine and add or takeaway from scripture to reinforce their doctrine.

From what I understand it does strip away at it, but it is a very slow process and would take a huge amount of time before it affected the atmosphere in a big way.
