King of kings in the OT in Greek is found in Daniel 2 for example and is not the same as God of gods:

I hate to burst your bubble but Deuteronomy 10:17 translated in Greek is theos of theos:

Amen to that, Pilgrim!
God bless, LU

Hi Carmel,
Matthew 10:19…good passage and reminder, thank you!
Blessings, LU

Carmel,
You have your own way of looking at the Word, that’s for sure. I don’t even know where to begin to speak to the dimension that you speak on. I’m sorry.
May God bless you,

Hi Carmel,
You said:
1Peter 1:3 Blessed be
THE God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, (A CLEAR REFERENCE TO JESUS CHRIST AS OUR GOD AND FATHER)
Do you believe Jesus is his own father?

A Paradox:
Jesus is either the Son of God or is God.
If he is both, then he must be the Son of himself.OR, God is the Father with his Son, not apart from his Son.

t8,
You said to Pilgrim:
My answer was very honest because I truly believe with all my heart that he is the son of God and the Christ. I believe it not only because it is written, but deeply believe it theologically. This impacts how I see many other things.
Jesus is the son of God in what way? Do you think that he is a son biologically born of…[Read more]

t8,
You said: I didn’t look at the thesis and do not need to. Any thesis that changes the Father from being the one true God to being the Father of God, the Son of God, and the Spirit of God is only trying to coax people with smooth words. I have little time for such things. About as much time as I have for the Mormon bible for example.
The t…[Read more]

t8,
Is eternal life knowing the only true God apart from Jesus??
Or, is eternal life knowing the only true God AND Jesus?
You can’t know the only true God apart from Jesus. Therefore knowing the only true God is dependent on knowing Jesus. There is a connection that to have one, you must also have the other. That is two persons to know in order…[Read more]

Hi Carmel,
I know that we are in Christ but not as gods abiding in him. I would have to study it more as far as what specific way we are in him. I do know that we are in him like he is our strong tower of protection and we are in his hands, completely dependent on him to cover us with his righteousness, etc.
Lightenup replied to the topic Born and begotten in the forum Scriptural Teachings 5 years, 11 months ago
Carmel,
Jesus is God in us, we are not god in Jesus. Big difference.

BTW, t8, I find it kind of strange that you are so willing to believe that Paul would all of the sudden call satan the “god of this world” when you completely dispute Jesus as being called theos in John 1:1 even when claiming to believe that all things were made by Him.

t8,
Regarding this post:
LU quoting the theses:
In conclusion, then, I submit that the most likely meaning that may be assigned to Paul’s expression o& qeoV” tou~ ai*w~no” is that by it he was referring to the God of Paul’s Judeo- Christian heritage, and not to the devil. This conclusion is to be preferred because it is exegetically sound,…

Mike,
Oh geez…
regarding your post:
LU: Do you think that a member of a unity cannot serve that unity of which they are a member of? A pastor is a member of the body of Christ, a unity called the church. The pastor also serves the body of Christ, the unity of which he is a member of. This is simple.
Simple? More like “simple-minded”. Will…

Mike,
You said: No they don’t. That is a poor translation…
I used to think that too but reading the early church father’s writings, they quote it as the “Lamb slain before the foundation of the world” from what I remember so I go by that.
That doesn’t imply a continual slaying, Mike. I take it as a future event, the Son would become incarnate and…[Read more]

Mike,
You asked:
LU: Shoot me, I don’t care… The apostles prayed to YHVH, the unity of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit…
And do all three of those entities comprise ONE SINGULAR “Sovereign Lord” in your doctrine? The prayer was to the Sovereign LORD (YHVH) and all three members, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit make up the fullness of the one So…[Read more]

Mike,
You quoted this:
“The arm of the Lord” is an idiom for “God’s great power” (as exemplified through Jesus’ miraculous signs). This response of unbelief is interpreted by the author as a fulfillment of the prophetic words of Isaiah (Isa 53:1). The phrase ὁ βραχίων κυρίου (Jo braciwn kuriou) is a figurative reference to God’s activity…

Mike,
Regarding this:
LU: You can pray directly to Jesus…He is YHVH our Righteousness… It’s ok.
Mike: It’s also apparently okay to pray directly to the city of Jerusalem, who is also YHVH our Righteousness.Jeremiah 33:16
In those days Judah will be saved, and Jerusalem will dwell securely, and this is the name by which it will be called: T…
