hoghead1,
You do not have to be fluent in Koint Greek to do what little I did as I simply looked up what is written in biblehub.com Interlinear translation and they English synonyms for the Koine Greek words. I wrote down the later though I may have missed subtleties of the actual word it does impart the essential meaning.

Hoghead 1,
Ho do you except the doctrine of the trinity that is full of impossibilities after all in claiming Jesus is God it essentially claims the impossibility that God is tempted by evil and so disagrees with James that claims he cannot be.
To balance that and other ways Jesus is different to God it introduces the impossibility that Jesus…[Read more]

Hoghead1,
Matthew 19:26 is more and the Koine Greek is a little more vague as like most Koine Greek is implies more than modern English. It essentially states “… in the presence of on the other hand God whole possible.”
You can object to Jesus’ claim because clearly God cannot be tempted by evil but he was well aware of that when he uttered…[Read more]

Hoghead,
I posted to you twice before and my posts did not show but it seems that things are working again.
Nothing you said actually disagrees with the Scriptural claim that God is all powerful.

AndrewAD and @admin,
I have posted twice to this thread and neither as shown up but yours showed up.

Hoghead1,
Can God make a stone so heavy that he can’t lift it when he wants to?
It is an absurd argument as it essentially is posing the question whether God is more powerful than himself. The statement that God is omnipotent is not claiming God is more powerful than himself.

Hoghead1,
God is all powerful and all knowing and so anything that occurs is either at his instigation or because he allows it. In short his will. He could have at any time stepped in and prevented the death of the child but he chose not to. In fact he had the choice to stop the conception or even David and Bathsheba’s choice to indulge in…[Read more]

Hoghead,
He modified it by having the child of Bathsheba die shortly after birth. If one puts too much faith in this life it may be seen as an unfair wage for the crime committed but bottom line is our children pay for our sins as do others. Of course we would argue that Bathsheba’s distress at her husband’s death and he guilt over the affair…[Read more]

Hoghead1,
Forgiveness does not mean remission of all punishment. God forgave King David but only mitigated the punishment for his sin. It is clemency.
It does not because only those that change their way and do all that is right or are credited with the same are forgiven.
I am not sure God punishes anyone or whether he is attempting to save us…[Read more]

It literally states the wages of sin are death and that can be interpreted any other way unless one claim it was symbolic or a generality.
Everyone that has sinned has been dying from that day and only Jesus of those did not sin dies and he did not stay dead because if the power of the spirit of righteousness. (Romans 1:4) He thus…[Read more]

The Bible makes it very clear that God is a God of love; and when you truly love others, you do not seek to coerce them by threats of terrible punishments.
Love hates evil so perhaps you reevaluate your definition which is neither in scripture or a very good since evil triumphs since it wold mean no justice system. Essentially you are…[Read more]
kerwin replied to the topic Are the sons of God the angels? in the forum Truth or Tradition 8 years, 11 months ago
@t8, @942767, and anyone else;
He has Hebrews 1:5-7 incorrect. The title Son is about symbolism and not the body. Of course his argument is good against those that claim the angels were created from the body of God. It is also good against the same claim about the “form of God” being the form of angels when interpreting Philippians 2:7.

Jesus is the prodigious example but even then it is hard to believe so many look for alternative interpretations.
Sorry I got two ideas mixed.
Jesus is the example that those that walk according to the Spirit are freed from slavery to sin.
It is hard to believe that a human being can be freed from slavery to sin (imperfection) so many…[Read more]

There is a lot more detail in the account about Abraham though there are some brief snapshot of earlier times. It does not cover the Great Deluge very well but is covers it better than Genesis 1 covers the details of creation. The later has a lot of context that either is not written or requires research. It also uses the same word in…[Read more]

Both Jews and Christians of bygone days believe Eden is a idyllic place and Revelations speaks of the tree of life in the midst of Paradise. Some a number of centuries ago advanced the hypothesis that it Eden is symbolic as is the rest of the story of creation. That would be true of its mention in Revelations as well.
Nowadays th…[Read more]

Hoghead,
Genesis 2:15 states God placed them in the Garden and Genesis 3:23 states he banished them from it.
In case you do not know that paradise is derived from the Koine Greek word for pleasure garden.

hoghead,
Chapter 2 does claim that the two lived in Eden but 1 does not mention it.
I favor the hypothesis that one is the the order of the plan and two is how things actually occurred.
Whatever the case the two are only summaries which is common with pre-Abraham passages.

Calvin’s doctrine is extreme as Scripture claims the elite are freed from bondage to sin if they walk according to the Spirit. It is an intense promise that can certainly only be fulfilled by the power of God. Jesus is the prodigious example but even then it is hard to believe so many look for alternative interpretations.
kerwin replied to the topic The Trinity Doctrine is an unnecessary stumbling block in the forum Truth or Tradition 8 years, 11 months ago
AndrewAD,
I do not believe it is off topic as I believe the Trinity Doctrine is a stumbling block to walking according to the Spirit.
Thank you for clarifying Calvin’s variation of the original sin/total depravity.

Hoghead,
The Jews believe a lot like Calvin though they do not label it the doctrine of original sin. They just refer to it as human imperfection and believe that is begins when a child is born as opposed to in the womb. I have not checked if they also believe Adam was created perfect. There is some difference of belief among Jews on the is…[Read more]
