    @Jodi Hi Jodi,
    Do you disagree with scripture when it says the spirit returns to God?

    • Profile picture of Jodi

      Did my answer say I disagreed with scripture, or did my answer say that I disagreed with how you interpret the scripture? With all that I have put forth on this forum, you honestly think Nick that I would say that I disagree with a scripture? You KNOW I wouldn’t say that I disagree with scripture, so for you to ask something you know the answer…[Read more]

    @Jodi Hi Jodi,
    So you say.
    But does scripture?

  • Profile picture of NickHassan

    @Jodi Hi Jodi,
    You have this theory that a certain amount of the Spirit must be given to stop man sinning.
    I do not find it in scripture.

    • Profile picture of Jodi

      9 No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in them; they cannot go on sinning, because they have been born of God.

      Jesus remained without sin, he was born of God. No other man thus far has remained without sin, otherwise they could have been the lamb sacrificed having no spot or blemish. We are told that Jesus w…[Read more]

    @Jodi Hi Jodi,
    No one who is born of God PRACTICES SIN, because His seed abides in him; and he cannot sin because he is born of God.

    You say it is IMPOSSIBLE to sin but I believe it is more in the way of an exhortation.

    @Jodi Hi Jodi,
    The brain is part of the amazing dust instrument that is the human body.
    Part of the vessel God designed to hold His Spirit.
    It fails and eventually returns to dust.

    • Profile picture of Jodi

      Nick, what you say about the brain and the spirit is truly empty to me, both in a biblical sense from what is given and also to human experience. You are not explaining anything at all. Can you speak applying the bible to the human experience. What do you know about human experiences? Would you mind telling me about your life, personal and professional?

  • Profile picture of NickHassan

    @Jodi Hi Jodi,
    The human spirit gives life to a man, as Eccl 12 shows it is like going daily to the well.
    As it also shows man has only a limited lifespan and the cord will break and the bucket fall to the bottom of the well.
    Man must receive the Spirit of eternal life, the river of life, before he dies so that death loses it’s sting.

      7 Then shall the dust return to the earth as it was: and the spirit shall return unto God who gave it.

      spirit, ruwach wind, breath, mind, spirit
      breath

      This is does not prove AT ALL what you believe. When we die are life IS OVER, there is not a part of us that is immortal. God gave us the breath of life so that we could live, and in…[Read more]

    @Jodi Hi Jodi,
    Paul was filled with the Spirit.
    Acts 9.17 Acts 13.9
    The bible is replete with many examples of men being filled with the Spirit while they walked the earth.

    • Profile picture of Jodi

      Nick, Paul was filled with the Spirit to a measure that made him an apostle, but he was not FULL of the Spirit to a measure where he was perfected. Yes many men are filled with the Spirit, filled with wisdom, filled with knowledge, with workmanship..etc. Jesus was the only mortal given the full measure that would enable him to remain without sin.

    @Jodi Hi Jodi,
    Dust is not the source of the breath of God.
    Soul and spirit derive from that holy breath.
    The spirit returns to Gd at death ( Eccl 12)

    • Profile picture of Jodi

      I didn’t say that the dust was the source of the breath of God, God is the source of our breath.

      This passage shows what I am saying,

      7 And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

    Yes those who listened to Peter were cut to the heart and obeyed the command to be baptised in the name of Jesus Christ.
    Do we have any reason not to do the same?

  • Profile picture of NickHassan

    @Jodi Hi Jodi,
    Paul was filled with the Spirit, yet he was troubled by SIN IN THE FLESH.
    YOU SAY HE SINNED BUT SAY IT WAS IMPOSSIBLE FOR HIM TO DO SO?

    • Profile picture of Jodi

      NO! Paul received God’s Spirit to a measure that made him an apostle, but he did not receive a measure most certainly that kept him from sin, as Jesus had received. I spoke about his hope that he had when he is resurrected, THEN it will be that he is made perfect and no longer able to sin.

    @Jodi Hi Jodi,
    I hear religious ideology speaking through you and a reluctance to let the Spirit test those intellectual restrictions.
    There Is more to learn than you currently know.

    Heb 5 7

    These are not the days of the flesh for him.

    • Profile picture of Jodi

      Nick, you are denying straight forward scripture, and then saying a passage says something that it does not. You are forcing the text to your belief.

      You leave out the WHEN

      7 Who in the days of his flesh WHEN he had offered up prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard in…[Read more]

    Jesus was rather sed in his flesh and bone body to fulfil the sign of Jonah.
    The body of the sacrificial Lamb of God was carried into the temple by the High Priest, Jesus Christ.

    • Profile picture of Jodi

      Once again you are denying clear passage. The sign is about three days and three nights he would rise again, such does not dissolve the fact that the one to sit on David’s throne would be of the flesh of David’s loins. There is no part of the sign that means his rising was to be in a temporary form. You can’t prove anything with the sign of…[Read more]

    Flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom

    • Profile picture of Jodi

      Yes flesh and blood cannot, that is why it is said that one is to be born of water and of the Spirit, there is no more blood. Jesus WAS raised to life in HIS GLORY, raised incorruptible, and it is Jesus who is of the fruit of David’s loins, ACCORDING to the FLESH that he sits on his throne. You say that the breath of God is of the dust of earth?.

    • Profile picture of Jodi

      The breath of God is giving life to that which He formed from the dust of the earth. There is no part of us that is immortal, when the body dies the person is dead, they have no thoughts, no memories, they cannot make any plans, they cannot do good or evil. The point of death is a punishment for sin, it’s taking away your life, not taking your…[Read more]

    For those in Christ.
    God is at work in you to will and to do.
    ‘brethren what shall we do?’

  • Profile picture of NickHassan

    @Jodi Hi Jodi,
    Yes all is of grace.
    Obedience also is of grace.
    Knowledge will count for nothing.

    • Profile picture of Ed J

      Godly knowledge certainly counts for something Nick…
      “whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.” (Phil 4:8)

    • Profile picture of Jodi

      Knowledge comes from God, without God’s grace giving us truth we are nothing more than a dumb dog. Without God’s Spirit of knowledge working in us we would not know Him or know Jesus in truth.

  • Profile picture of NickHassan

    @Jodi Hi Jodi,
    First we need to be baptised in the name of Jesus for the forgiveness of our sins.
    Then this applies to all of us who still unconsciously sin 1 Jn 2 1
    Jn 13
    He who has bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean;

    • Profile picture of Jodi

      First God calls us, it is through His Spirit that we are led to a repentant heart. We cannot do anything on our own, we cannot recognize our sins, and be sorry of those sins without God working in us. What baptism represents is being repentant and then going through a ritual act that symbolizes being washed clean from our sins as we recognize that…[Read more]

    • Profile picture of Jodi

      Hi Nick,

      Yes absolutely, as it is by our actions that our faith can be seen. However we are not capable of being perfect and one sin equals death, but praise to God our Father for Jesus paying the penalty for all our sins. As long as we recognize our sins and repent, loathing our weakness, and ask God to help us, that shows our faith as well as…[Read more]
