Quote (JustAskin @ Jan. 19 2010,00:34) Bare in mind always, that Satan wants us to take the focus off God. Wearing or holding up a Cross in front of you (in any sense) is can eventually lead to some Worshipping Jesus. What was the reason for the Snake on a stick? What does it mean?
Moses instituted many Laws and rituals because the burden of following God's law was too much for the minds of the people at the time.
Jesus came and wiped away a lot of those laws and reinstated God's law.Could the snake on a stick have been allowed as the ONLY worship symbol allowed by God – for that time – so that the people would not go making their own.
If God tells us in the 10 Commandment that He gave us, is it then right to do whatever mankind wants to do? IMO no. That has always been the problem for mankind. He want to do what men wants to do, and in that lies the sin. Is a commandment there for us to keep or to ignore because I think it is right??? We all need to think about that. Satan wants us to think it is a symbol for Christianity. But is it? I think all of us have to prove what is right or wrong. 1 Thess. 5:21
As far as idols is concerned, anything can became an idol to us if we think we have to have it no matter what. That is humanity in genral He wants to do to belong to a group. Look around us…….January 18, 2010 at 5:51 am#170682bananaParticipantQuote (Lightenup @ Jan. 18 2010,16:05) Irene,
Isn't the important thing that they do worship whether in front of the cross or not? Keep the main thing, the main thing…they are worshipping God at the foot of a cross…Mary did also. They are not worshipping a cross…that to me is ridiculous.
No it is not the most important thing that they worship, because of the trinity…….Where you in the Catholic Church like we were, no. So you really don't know. Venerating the cross it is called. In Spirit and in Truth shall you worship Me and not with an Idol. Venerating means to hold in High esteem. Only God the Father we should hold in High esteem, not a piece of wood. And they also believe in a trinity a man made doctrine and not of God……..Math. 15:9
IreneJanuary 18, 2010 at 4:34 am#170678bananaParticipantQuote (Lightenup @ Jan. 18 2010,14:56) Good advice terraricca,
If you do not have enough faith that you will not make an idol out of a piece of cross-shaped metal then ask God to help you overcome your weakness for your idea of God is very small. Ask yourself if you have thoughts of condemnation towards those who wear crosses. That would be flesh and legalism maybe a religious spirit thrown in. It is truly freeing to not have such hang-ups towards such things. Let it go. Be free in Jesus Name…Amen…thank you Jesus!
Kathi! I can't believe what you are saying about the cross. What is an idol? If you make anything that is concerning God and kneel down and kiss it even, you saying its right to do, because it reminds you of Jesus sacrifice? It is totally wrong. If Jesus would have died on the Guillotine would you wear that around your neck? The cross again in the Catholic Church has a person which is to be Jesus and they do,do,do worship it. And all has come out of the Catholic Church. It was the Universal Church that controlled all society, and many are still deceived and think it is perfectly right to do worship in front of the cross. In fact one Lady in the Church where our Son goes told me she needs that cross, to worship. Bull. Be free to do anything s long as as you think it is right. The 10 Commandments have been magnified. The second commandment is do not make any graven image, whether in Heaven of on earth.
But you do what you want to, its your choice, but it is also my duty to inform others of what is right. And this is wrong to do, not even IMO. It is a commandment. They have not been done away with the have been fulfilled. They are magnified. Nobody is condemning anyone to believe in that commandment from God. It is only the Sabbath that was not for us. but for the Children of Israel. Exodus 22:16-17

As a child my parents tried to make me wear a cross on a chain – they said it would help to protect me from harm bh the Devil but I refused.
Satan will try all sorts of things to get us to direct attention and the rightful Worship from God the Father. How many people make pilgramages to the Holyland to worship at the cave where Jesus is supposed to have been in. Imagine if the stone was still there – ha! How Satan will smile…
Already we have this disgusting thing called 'the shroud of Turin' … All those sad souls who claim, and all those who believe, that it once wrapped the body of Christ!
By what means did Jesus instruct us to remember him: Luke 22:19 tells us.
Above all and in no way did Jesus instruct us to worship him nor design, fashion or hold in honor any object in his name – as,no matter what the initial sentiment was, Satan will cause it to become an object of worship to Christ.
One, be careful of your Stone – you may find it placed around your neck!!
Worship God!
Yes, you are so right. Unfortunatley they do not know what they are doing, and only those that God calles out will, and for that we should all be thankful for. Keep up the good work.

I think that is probably an act of respect for Christ dying on the cross. I don't believe that the catholics pray to the cross, do they?
Love,
Kathi
Kathi! I don't think that any one of the Catholics realize what they are doing. Neither did we when we belonged. However when you kiss the cross, what is that? Is that not wrong to do? Also the Cross in the Catholic Church has Jesus on it, not like all other Churches that just has the Cross. So that is double wrong I believe so!!! Idol worship on top off all. Also to have it put on all of the Soldiers shields and go to war, and think that it saves you?
That is what they did back then. Read Georg's Book He can explain it much better then I can. Sometimes I do wonder how God looks at all of this. I am forever thankful to God that He called us out of that Church.
Also they believe in the trinity and they do in vain worship God, teaching the doctrine the commandments of men. Math. 15:9

I don't see the cross as a tool by which people died but more of an altar upon which Jesus was sacrificed. The Romans and Jews though of Jesus's death as a crucifixion but ultimately, it was Jesus's very Father and God that sent His Son to die as a sacrifice. In the Old Testament, God ordered some altars to be built as a place to sacrifice an offering and the altar often became a lasting memorial. The altars weren't worshipped and I don't know anyone that worships the cross but considers it more of a memorial of the greatest sacrifice for our benefit. I agree that it would be wrong to worship a symbol of any sort but I don't think it is worshipped as an idol just by wearing it around your neck or kissing it. Kissing something does not denote worship, it is when the something is thought of as a god.My opinion,
Kathi
Kathi! If you kneel in front of a Cross and even kiss it like the Catholics do it is an abomination to our God. I used to do so too, so I know what I am talking about. That is the truth and you can quote me anytime about that. Read up on Constantine you might be surprised what you will find out . Jesus is the first son of God ,the first of all and in everything, scriptures say so.
You are so right…. Whether Monogenes or just the Son of God. What difference does it make. He is His Son and that is all that matters. He also had a beginning, not like W.J. and the thinker want to deny. Scriptures have been given many times. He is our Savior and our Mediator. He came to earth to do the will of our Heavenly Father. He has said that My Father is greater then I. Several Scriptures tell us THAT THERE IS ONE LORD, WHO IS ABOVE ALL AND IN US ALL. He now sits at the right hand of the Father and is second in line, sort to speak. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of our Heavenly Father and not the third person of the trinity. The Holy Spirit is not Jesus Father, which if He would be a Person that is what He would be. One day we will only know the truth, till then all that teach the trinity are worship in vain Math. 15:9

Peace and Love IreneJanuary 17, 2010 at 4:48 am#170578bananaParticipantQuote (The One @ Jan. 17 2010,15:28) For hundreds of years before me,till my time now we have seen our brothers and sisters in Christ wear, mount on home walls, place on top of churches or behind altars,…..crosses.They appear as statements of faith and belief(and before I begin please let me state that I find nothing sinful or unscriptural about this practice except when they become objects of worship)and say to the world that”I am of Christ”,which is admirable. But(and you knew one was coming)the cross should never have been our symbol of faith.Did Christ's cross experience differ from other men?(except for when the Father removed Himself so that Jesus' would experience seperation due to sin, which we all do when we disobey the Father's word)The answer is NO.It still ended in death.
The victory over sin and death did not come via the cross, but rather by the rolled away stone!!That stone which sealed the tomb and had the priestly seal set upon it(Matt.27:66)and was guarded by soldiers of the high priest. That stone which the angel rolled away from the tomb entrance and sat upon(Matt.28:2).That stone which, when rolled away, let the annointed Christ walk back from death into this world giving us victory, joy and hope!!”THIS STONE”,and the empty tomb behind it.should have always been our symbol(if one is needed)of victory!!Rather than that of the instrument of Jesus' death(because truly nothing is unique in that symbol. It happened to thousands of people in those days). But the empty tomb, and the stone that was rolled away by the Father's own angel to bring Jesus back to us and thereby establishing the kingdom through Christ,THAT is what should be our symbol of hope, and faith!
I know many may disagree with me,but I am much more thankful to God for the stone which was rolled away, rather than the thing which caused the Lord's physical death.I would much rather be an optimist than a pessimist when it comes to symbols of my salvation.A joyful symbol rather than a sad reminder.A symbol of spiritual hope and newness of life rather than one of death and loss.
In 2 Corinthians 2:12…”having been buried with Him in baptism,in which you were also raised up(the stone of sin and death being rolled away)with Him through faith in the working of God,who raised Him from the dead.”Both things had to happen. But you can get wet without becoming”like Christ”.
Jesus' death was part 1 of our salvation, but would've been meaningless had Part 2(the victory)not occurred!!The rolled away stone. The one The Father had moved by His angel to bring Jesus back thereby giving us hope of salvation.THIS is my symbol of oneness with Christ in my soul, spirit and heart!!
Hello Welcome to Heaven Net! This is interesting. My Husband has studied Ancient History and the Cross in nothing but the tool by which people died at that time. Some people go as far as kissing the Cross on good Friday. which to me is an abomination. It was Constantine who had a dream about the cross and He had all of His Soldiers put a cross on their Shields. When my Husband and I believe that the cross is the mark of the beast. If we are right one day we will see.

Jn 7:7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates me because I testify that what it does is evil.
Jn 7:45 Finally the temple guards went back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, “Why didn’t you bring him in?”
Jn 7:46 “No one ever spoke the way this man does,” the guards declared.
Jn 7:47 “You mean he has deceived you also?” the Pharisees retorted.
Jn 7:48 “Has any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?
Jn 7:49 No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law—there is a curse on them.”
Jn 7:50 Nicodemus, who had gone to Jesus earlier and who was one of their own number, asked
Jn 8:33 They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”
Jn 8:34 Jesus replied, “I tell you the truth, everyone who sins is a slave to sin.
Jn 8:42 Jesus said to them, “If God were your Father, you would love me, for I came from God and now am here. I have not come on my own; but he sent me.
Jn 8:43 Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say.
Jn 8:44 You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desire. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of liesJn 9:24 A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. “Give glory to God,’” they said. “We know this man is a sinner.”
Jn 9:25 He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”
Jn 9:26 Then they asked him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?”
Jn 9:27 He answered, “I have told you already and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples, too?”
Jn 9:28 Then they hurled insults at him and said, “You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses!
Jn 9:29 We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes from.”
Jn 9:30 The man answered, “Now that is remarkable! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes.
Jn 9:31 We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly man who does his will.
Jn 9:32 Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind.
Jn 9:33 If this man were not from God, he could do nothing.”i will not comment this .
T,
i can post many scriptures that state jesus is eternal and giving himself status as that which god has.he is part of god for he is th ecomplete reflection of god.
he is not some spirit being that is of his own occord or self reliance without having such intricate untiy with god as it clearly states by himself over and over.
no he is not the invisible god almighty but a means that god used himself as way to communicate.
it has been done before and i have shown scritures and i notice noone even touches those becasue they are true and cannot be broken
does not mean that the “son” is to be worshiped as the GOd or is another GOD to worship in anyway.
he has his place in power and rank as how it was shown to man in our easy to grasp understanding of father and son relationship.
clearly within the bible it repeats ver and over how there unity is so deep that ne cannot think that jesus is just a good order taker and listner.
he clearly had god's attributes and words onearth and was in complete unity with him as to why he could do all those things.
it doesnt take away the intimate connection to him since he was brought forth just for that, the untouchable, unreachable god is now reachable through his way from christ.
i love and thank god for bringing forth as man who was from god's spirit called his son in our eyes that had all of god's words and messages and will to show s what he really wants from us instead of it just being wtitten on stone.
he taught how to do them in physical sense.
look what he has done for all of us here and over the world.
he has made your faith and worship so strong that we fill our lives with it dedicated to him.
thats what he wants, even though some difference are there we all are filling our lives with him and are not doing the things/desires of flesh and are being masters of sin.
his love sheds on us all.
Jesus was a begotten Son of God. He had a beginning and did not existed always like His Father did. He now has deity, but to become like us He had to empty Himself to become flesh. These Scriptures are clear.
Col. 1:15-17 and Rev. 3:14
God the Father gave Jesus all the power to create all. He also is the firstborn from the death. Col. 1:1
We also know that nobody has heard His voice or seen His form of our Heavenly Father. John 5 :37. So whenever you hear of God speaking it is the word of God who became Jesus John 1:14
There is a tread preexisting of Jesus and the debate is good.
No matter what the Pharisees or the Scribes or the Jew's said at that time, Jesus knew that He was going to die, it does not matter what any of them said. It is because of that reason that Jesus came to earth to do the will of His Father in Heaven. Did they believe in Him you asked? I don't think so, they wanted Him dead.

I was at one time grately involved with the Jews in this debate, we went into grate depth about and maintained it did relate with Jesus' Berth, but could not absolute prove it and after a while had to admit they were right on this one Point. None of this have anything to do with our salvation as Adam brought out, but it is interesting ,How Paul and non of the other Apostles us this in there teaching of the gospel to others and you would think they would have used it often seeing no one had any bibles at that time, so you would think the Apostles would have continually mentioned it, But you don't find this in their writings. Most people may not even have known about this till the bibles was printed many many years later. The Catholic Church is the one who pushed this as one of their great teachings , “THE IMMACULATE CONCEPTION” Teaching. There are some merits to what Adam is saying, IMO Lest Nick blow another gasket, “IN MY OPINION”, Nick.
Gene Even though there is no Scripture that tells us outright that Maria was a Virgin, however what Math. 1:25 implies that She had no sex before Jesus was born. She as far as I can see never had someone else in Her life except Joseph. So my believe is that She wads a Virgin when She conceived Jesus by the Fathers Spirit. A Miracle indeed.

Is it not more important to us that Christ died for us and now we have a Mediator and Salvation through Him, then worrying about how He was born? I do and find it so ridiculous to argue about that fact, whether He was born of a Virgin or not. We know by the Witnesses, Paul Mark Math. that He is our Savior. With translating from Hebrew and Greek into English I am certain that some got lost and we should not make such a stink about whether He is born of a Virgin or not. It is more important that we will grow into grace and love for others and be more like Christ. You come on here what once in a while and get some upset, is that right of you to do? So stop the bull……..

January 14, 2010 at 9:05 am#170077bananaParticipantI am also going with kerwin and terrarrica, there is a Scripture that says that She was a Maiden and at that time it was really a embarrassing event if someone had sex before Marriage. That is why Joseph wanted to marry Maria. However the Catholics are wrong in believing that Maria stayed a Virgin. That She did not.
Math. 1:25 and did not know her till she had brought forth her firstborn Son. And He called His name Jesus.
