Getting late but I will get back with you on this. Promise!
July 27, 2007 at 7:55 am#61749BibliophileParticipantHi David,
Yes, I have just stummbled onto this thread. I mentioned to Is 1:18 that after going home and researching this verse (because translations were contradicting themselves) I am moved to agree with him and you that this verse is speaking of Jesus, not Jehovah. I will be honest, I have never run across this before so much investigation from scripture is a must. Hopefully I will be able to add a little something later on.
One should not be so haughty as not to be humble and correct one's mistakes.
Thanks.:p
Sincerely
July 27, 2007 at 7:47 am#61747BibliophileParticipantHi Laurel,
Is it possible that you mean to say instead of “In the original language, (Qodesh Ruach) in Hebrew, in which Holy Spirit was translated from means Set-apart Spirit of Elohim” should be 'Ruach in Hebrew, in which holy spirit was translated from is transliterated into English as set-apart spirit of Elohim?'
The reason I mention this is because of your use of 'meaning.' The definition of holy spirit (ruach) in Hebrew is:
wind, breath, mind, spirit
breath
wind
of heaven
quarter (of wind), side
breath of air
air, gas
vain, empty thing
spirit (as that which breathes quickly in animation or agitation)
spirit, animation, vivacity, vigour
courage
temper, anger
impatience, patience
spirit, disposition (as troubled, bitter, discontented)
disposition (of various kinds), unaccountable or uncontrollable impulse
(All taken from Theological Wordbook of the OT)The Greek holy spirit (pnuema) means:
a movement of air (a gentle blast
of the wind, hence the wind itself
breath of nostrils or mouth
the spirit, i.e. the vital principal by which the body is animated
the rational spirit, the power by which the human being feels, thinks, decides
(all taken from the Theological Dictionary of the NT)If I have misunderstood what you are saying please accept my apologies.
July 27, 2007 at 7:23 am#61740BibliophileParticipantHi Arizona,
Please tell me, how is it that Jesus fulfilled in every detail over 300 prophetic Hebrew scriptures?
For example, is it possible for one to prophesy where he would be born, especially since there were 2 different Bethlehems?July 27, 2007 at 3:37 am#61704BibliophileParticipantHeh Is 1:18,
After alot of research and studying today on 1Timothy 6:15, you may be right. I may have to retract my first post….maybe.
I am still in the process of collecting scriptural eveidence so I will get back on this later.
July 26, 2007 at 10:46 am#61606BibliophileParticipantHi Stu,
These scriptures do not indicate sinning on the part of YHWH. Is it a sin to rid those ruining the earth? This is righteousness on YHWH's behalf since he is without sin. YHWH has standards that are just. When man chooses to rebel against those righteous standards, whose fault is it? Man's.
Perhaps you would be so kind to elaborate on your reasons for those scriptures?
Thanks
July 26, 2007 at 10:00 am#61604BibliophileParticipantKernch,
How about to fulfill his own prophecy in Daniel involving the 70 weeks of years?
Daniel 9: 24-27 24 Seventy weeks [a] are decreed about your people and your holy city—to bring the rebellion to an end, to put a stop to sin,to wipe away injustice, to bring in everlasting righteousness, to seal up vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most holy place. 25 Know and understand this: From the issuing of the decree to restore and rebuild Jerusalem until Messiah the Prince will be seven weeks and 62 weeks. It will be rebuilt with a plaza and a moat, but in difficult times. 26 After those 62 weeks the Messiah will be cut off and will have nothing. The people of the coming prince will destroy the city and the sanctuary. The end will come with a flood, and until the end there will be war; desolations are decreed. 27 He will make a firm covenant with many for one week, but in the middle of the week he will put a stop to sacrifice and offering. And the abomination of desolation will be on a wing of the temple until the decreed destruction is poured out on the desolator.”
Notice the Messiah (Jesus) would be cut off (killed) when this was to be fulfilled?
July 26, 2007 at 9:42 am#61602BibliophileParticipantHi Is,
Sorry, but I have to disagree with you on this one. The context is discussing God (YHWH). Although I am able to see where there might be confusion here. A lot of Translations indicate Christ as Potentate. Notice the following.
14that you keep the commandment without stain or reproach until the (AJ)appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15which He will bring about at (AK)the proper time–He who is (AL)the blessed and (AM)only Sovereign, (AN)the King of kings and (AO)Lord of lords, 16(AP)who alone possesses immortality and (AQ)dwells in unapproachable light, (AR)whom no man has seen or can see (AS)To Him be honor and eternal dominion! Amen. (NASB)
14to keep the commandment unstained and free from reproach until(AF) the appearing of our Lord Jesus Christ, 15which he will display(AG) at the proper time—he who is(AH) the blessed and only Sovereign,(AI) the King of kings and Lord of lords, (ESB)
Now notice the renderings of others.
13 In the presence of God, who gives life to all, (Q) and before Christ Jesus, who gave a good confession before Pontius Pilate, Â I charge you 14 to keep the commandment without spot or blame until the appearing (S) of our Lord (T) Jesus Christ, 15 which God [f] will bring about in His own time. (U) [He is]the blessed and only (V) Sovereign, the King of kings, (W)and the Lord of lords, (HCSB)
14Do what you have been told to do. And do it so there will be nothing wrong, until our Lord Jesus Christ comes. 15At the right time God will bring Christ back. Praise God! He alone is ruler. He is King over all kings, and Lord over all lords. (WENT)
See the difference Is 1:18?
July 26, 2007 at 9:00 am#61598BibliophileParticipantHi ACC,
Yes, we need to choose our battle's wisely. Remember though, we should always speak truth (2 Timothy 2:15 (Amplified Bible)
15Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.Glad to help out!

July 26, 2007 at 6:09 am#61581BibliophileParticipantHi Jodi,
The greek word for 'in' and 'with' are completely different. Where are you getting this stuff?
'In' the beginning… is not he same Greek word for 'with' god!
Unfortunately, I am not at home right now. I will provide evidence eventually.
Sincerely
July 25, 2007 at 7:48 am#61470BibliophileParticipantHi Chap,
At Genesis 1:31 God says that “everything that he had made and look! [it was] very good.”
Obviously, the angels were created before man but at this point in time God says everything is very good.God created all beings (spirit or human) with free will. This would have included Satan. However, Satan wasn't always Satan (this word means resister of God). He started out as a perfect angel but later chose to resist God making him Satan. Notice Jesus' words at John 8:44 “That one (Satan)…did not stand fast in the truth, because truth is not in him.” Jesus indicates for us that at one time 'that one (satan) was in the truth.'
He is also known as Devil (which means slanderer) when he accused God of lying at Genesis 3:1-5.
Illustration: A parent has a child and raises him to be a Christian. Later that child chooses to become a thief. Did the parents raise a thief? Certainly not. Rather, the child resisted his parents and chose to be a thief.
Hope this helps.

I am sorry for not being able to understand your thoughts completely. I will leave you in peace and blessings.

July 25, 2007 at 5:01 am#61467BibliophileParticipantHi Gene,
No apologies needed. Please know that I wasn't upset. I was only agreeing to disagree on part of your thoughts, that's all. I hope I didn't come across angry? Writing to someone is difficult to show the right emotion at times. I'll have to start using more smilies.
I agree with you that Jesus is the word of God.

July 25, 2007 at 3:25 am#61460BibliophileParticipantHi Gene,
You can disagree with me, that's fine. Please comment about Revelation 19:13 calling Jesus the word of God.
By the way, I do not believe in the trinity doctrine at all.
Thanks
July 25, 2007 at 3:15 am#61457BibliophileParticipantMichaels,
I will try this conversation with you one more time. My being offended has nothing to do with Jesus. It has to do with your lack of tact when speaking.
Yes, let's read Isaiah 9:6. This verse says that the Son [Jesus] is called everlasting Father. Do you believe Jesus is the Father? Please just answer this one question.
Thanks
July 24, 2007 at 10:49 am#61402BibliophileParticipantHi Cas,
Thanks for your thoughts. Obviously, I am only able to speak for myself, but I Believe Is would agree that yes, picking on words continually would be missing the point of scripture. I don't normally breakdown specific words but I do feel it is necessary sometimes in order for each other to truly understand where the other is coming from. This is especially true on a forum where emotions and thoughts are often misunderstood.
I look at the posts between Is and me as a positive and uplifting conversation because we began to 'see' some agreement on things. I believe this is what this forum is all about.
Thank-you for recommending Greek philosophy but I think that is where a lot of lies worked their way into the truth of scripture. I'll stick to God's thoughts. Believe me when i say I have read much background info concerning the logos.
I appreciate your thoughts.

July 24, 2007 at 10:35 am#61397BibliophileParticipantHi Is,
I agree its late. look forward to other dicussions. Just so you realize, I don't believe Satan is truly god. He is a false god simply because he made or rather placed himself in that position. YHWH did not give him the authority to act as god. Satan took it upon himself.
Till next time,
In Christ
July 24, 2007 at 10:05 am#61387BibliophileParticipantGood question!
All gods in existence that are uncreated and divine would be false. For example, man-made gods.
What if Gog/YHWH designates one of his creations as god? Would this creation be a false god since YHWH gave him authority as god?
For example, Satan is called 'god of this system' at 2Corinthians 4:4. Is Satan a false or true god?
I believe him to be a false god. I'll explain when you reply.July 24, 2007 at 9:57 am#61382BibliophileParticipantHeh Ken,
Why isn'y the holy spirit ever called Lord of Host? Also, where inscripture is Jesus called sovereign?
