Dear Michaels,Jesus was speaking of the Father when saying I AM? Reread vs 57. The Jews asked Jesus not the Father “You(Jesus) are not yet fifty years old…” This is yours not he Bible's interpretation. Do you believe Jesus is also the Father? You would have to if you are going to keep with this interpretation.I am was an idiom in Jesus day. Are…[Read more]

Hi Is,The definite article does not have to be used in Greek in order to clarify that a noun is definite, such as you mentioned in John 1:18. Coming from your perspective I would agree that John 1:18 without the article is definite, thus not grammatically different.:D However, my point was and still is that John uses the definite article in John…[Read more]

Hi Michaels,Jehovah is the English name of God. So is Jesus. Would you be willing to start refering to Jesus as Jehoshua, his Hebrew Name? Most would not because we are familiar with the English Name Jesus. The same is said of Jehovah. The truth is no one knows the exact proninciation. The 'I Am' in Exodus 3:14 describes God. Jehovah/YHWH in…[Read more]

Hi,How about these scriptures. “they have…certainly come to know that I came out as your representative and they believe that you have sent me.” (John 17:18) Jesus is called the “Chief Agent.” (Acts 5:31) Also caompare John 7:29, 16:27; Acts 3:15; Hebrews 2:10.Obviously there is no scripture that explicitly says the law of agency. However, I do…[Read more]

Hi Is 1:18,I was gone for the weekend. John 1:18 is grammatically different than John 1:1. There really is no comparison of the two.A verse that resembles John 1:1 is found in John 6:70. It Reads in the Greek: “..and of you one a devil is?” (NKJV Greek English Interlinear. They supply the word 'a') John 1:1 as you already know reads in Greek:…[Read more]

Michaels,Is God's name Yahshua or Jehovah/Yahweh? In Christ

Hi Is 1:18,The second theos distinguishes itself from the first Theos which is THE (definite article) God. Another way of saying this is that 'the word was with The Living True God and the word was also god.' Obviously this is paraphrased. The First Theos has the definite Greek article (the) to identify a specific individual. The second theos does…[Read more]

Hi Nick, You need to keep going to vs 15 which I quoted. I Am or I will be what I will be only shows God's exsistence. Vs 15 shows God's name to be Jehovah (English), along with over 6,000 other verses using his name such as Ps 83:18.Let's say you are correct about the addition of vowels to God's name. Respectfully, so what? YHWH was given vowels…[Read more]

Perhaps this was covered in another thread but God's name is not I Am! The God of the Bible's name is Jehovah/Yahweh according to vs 15 of Exodus 3. “Jehovah, the God of your forefathers…this is my name to time indefinite, and this is the memorial of me to generation after generation.”

Hi CB,The Son is the God of the Father? Hebrews 1:8 was originally cited for King Solomon. Was Soloman the God of the Father too? Please read vs 9 also to clarify what is truth.

Hello Acertainchap,Just wanted make a little tweek in the Greek of John 1:1. The word was with THE GOD and the word was God. The definite article (THE) is crucial in this verse.

Hi Nick,Thanks for your reply. You are absolutely correct that as Christ's followers we must rely on scritpure alone which, as you already quoted Jesus saying, cannot be broken. As one of JW's I teach only Scripture. Not sure what you mean by partly based on the Bible? Saying that something is implied in scripture is still believing and teaching…[Read more]

KJ,Great post! I agree wholeheartedly that the OT is still just as important as the NT. Hi Nick,I agree that “Inference is not truth by any standard.” Inference and implicity are not interchangeable words. According to the Webster's online dictionary:1-Inference is making a logical judgement on the basis of circumstantial and prior conclusions rather than on the basis of direct observation.2-Implicit is capable of being understood…[Read more]

I would like to add something to this Great topic!Identifying who the Father is of Jesus is critical to accurate Bible Understanding. Is 1:18,I better correct myself on this one. Sorry about that!! What I meant was I would remain Jehovah's servant through Jesus even if the organization departed from the Bible.
