Ed, these prophesies are thousands of years old. The U.S.A. has been around for a couple of hundred.
One thing we know for sure is that people in every generation try to point to things in their society and timeline that match up with Biblical prophecy. To me it's like numerology, or like reading a horoscope. If you believe enough, you can make anything fit into your preferred criteria.

Actually I can't find it.
It eludes to the Antichrist coming up against even the most terrible of the nations. Some say that terrible is terrible in battle. (A bit like the word 'terrorism' I suppose.)

That is true. But I also think it is true that certain things repeat. e.g., Babel built a tower in their own name and they were cursed with confusion due to multiple languages and not being able to communicate with all men.The Church builds denominations in their own names and spectacular cathedrals, and they too are cursed with the multiple languages of Christianity (denominations) confusion, and babbling of differing doctrines where each find it difficult to communicate with the others even though they are supposedly the Church.
So, is this just trying too hard to make something match up, or is there a spiritual principal that would as you imagine show itself in similar situations.

It didn't however change my opinion about superstitious English numbering systems. But I do agree (and previously agreed) that there are significant biblical patterns regarding what numbers mean and because the Hebrew and Greek have their number systems built into their alphabets, this does result in some interesting patterns in scripture.
But English gematria has no meaning to me. That is simply an exercise where you make whatever you want to match whatever you want. Given the way words are put together, it is way too open for manipulation because there are just too many variables. You can decide to start here or there. And what you don't see are all the matches that make no sense. So it is all selective. Not to mention that there is no inbuilt number system, so you have to create one yourself which is a further manipulation.

I think it is the former.America is a super power and gets a lot of worldwide attention NOW, but we are an infant as far as civilizations go. Will Jesus come in our lifetime? Or will he return 10,000 years from now, when America isn't even a memory to anyone?
I don't know the answer. I just know that men in EVERY generation try to match up Biblical prophecy with events that effect their own short time on this earth. And ALL those men who have done this in the past have been wrong, obviously, because we still await the return of our Lord and Savior.
Will Wake Up and his crew of prophets be right this time? Only time will tell. (I do like his understanding of an implanted credit card chip, without which we won't be able to buy or sell. But will that chip happen? Will it become mandatory to all peoples in the earth? Will it turn out that people can't buy or sell without one of these chips? Time will tell.)
I must also point out that I have about 1/1000th of the knowledge about Biblical prophesies that Wake Up, Devo, journey, Georg, and Pierre have.
But I notice that there doesn't seem to be one “perfect” interpretation of these prophesies that is known to man, because these people I mentioned disagree on MANY prophetic points.
Everyone reads the years, days, and numbers differently – each with their own understanding of what those things mean to us. Who's right? Who's wrong?

It is true that there could be another 10000 years for all we know.
But Jesus is coming for us in the next 50 years or so.
Why can I say that, because we will likely be dead by then and to be apart from the body is to be present with the Lord. The dead will precede the living at his return, so we should live as if he was coming back in our lifetimes because when you think about it, he is coming for us in our lifespan.Also, just some conditional points to consider.
Some people from every generation have thought their generation was the last one. But scripture says that we won't be in darkness to that day. Many of these people were crackpots and made predictions based on not much at all. On the otherhand, you couldn't blame a person for thinking the end of the world was nigh during the world wars.
However, signs that we have today that no other generation saw are plenty. This is not to say that there won't be even greater signs to come. But we have the following already:
- Israel is a nation.
- Jerusalem back in Jewish control.
- In the east we now have armies big enough to fulfill the great army mentioned in Revelations. Previous to that, there was not enough people.
- Men are lovers of themselves more than lovers of God.
- Kingdom has risen against kingdom.
- Earthquakes in diverse places. And some of the biggest earthquakes ever experienced.
- If we believe the mark of the beast to be permanent mark for buying and selling, then we certainly have that technology today.
But the biggest sign of all is that the gospel shall be preached to all the world. So we could measure where we are from that alone.
The world of course does not consider these things. But we are not in darkness as to that day.
And think about how long you have lived and double that and them some toward the past, and you enter a world where horses are the main mode of transport and candles lit up the world at night.
If the history of the world was made into a movie, it would probably be the last few minutes or seconds that we would see the rise of a world of cars, electricity, air travel, computers, internet, nanotechnology, genetic engineering, and an arsenal of weapons powerful enough to end all life.
