World of spirits?

Hello All,

Is there a world or worlds of spirits?

Well, heathens throughout history have most certainly believed in a ‘world of spirits’, good spirits and evil spirits. Famous Greek Philosophers like Plato and Socrates believed in spirits as well as Hellenistic Jews. The bible speaks of men being wise in their own eyes and being filled with fables and myths that are said to be nothing more than lies. We are directly told in scripture that the gods and demons of the heathens are fake, they have no power to do good or evil.

Are angels spirits and thus part of a ‘world of spirits’?

According to the bible the answer is NO!

Angels are living beings that God made and we are directly told that they have BODIES, thus they are not spirits. 

1 Corinthians 15:38 But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed his own body. 39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. 40 There are also celestial BODIES, and bodies terrestrial: but the glory of the celestial is one, and the glory of the terrestrial is another. 41 There is one glory of the sun, and another glory of the moon, and another glory of the stars: for one star differeth from another star in glory.

Celestial angels/messengers are living beings with bodies who abode in the heavens and we also know they come to earth. These heavenly bodies, are titled as messengers in scripture, for they like that of human messengers, deliver/perform God’s will, His words and His deeds.

There is ONE Spirit and that is God’s Spirit and that Spirit exists with powers of which God gives those powers unto His messengers, to both celestial beings and human beings, to deliver God’s will. Signs, miracles, and wonders are delivered through God giving the powers of His Spirit.

What about unclean spirits/demons?

To the heathen, demons were spirit entities where some would do good/bless and others would do bad/curse. As we are told such is a work of fables and myths, where they along with their associated gods are mere inventions from man’s own imagination, lies.

God said that He would curse, and those curses include madness/mental diseases, blindness, palsy, leprosy, boils, deafness, the mute, etc.. you can read a whole list from Deuteronomy 28 as to examples of God’s curses.

To define unclean spirits/demons according to the heathen, or Greek Philosophers, or Hellenistic Judaism is foolishness.

Unclean spirits/demons are curses from God, they are not spirit entities that are wicked against God, they are things like viruses, bacteria, altered dna causing dysfunctions/deformities in the body and the brain.

Jodi…..what does these scriptures mean to you , 1 kings 22-23,  2 Ch 18:21-22,  I see spirits as mental cognisities,  either clean or un clean, good or evil, they make up our thinking king,  we are also told that there are ” Seven Spirits of God”.

I do however agree with you that they are not beings going around as persons,  having said that,  Jesus did depict them as a person in the parable of the unclean spirit, saying  Matt 12: 43-45….., “when a unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walks through dry places, seeking rest, and fire ding none. Then he says, I will return into my house from which I Came; and when he is come, he finds it empty, swept, and garnished. Then goes he, and takes with himself seven other Spirits more wicked than himself and they enter in and dwell there : and the last state of that man is worse then the first.”

Jodi this is a very good subject, we can all learn a lot from it.

Jesus, the son of David and Jesse, upon the Spirit descending like a dove coming to abode upon him he received the Spirit of Wisdom, the Spirit of Knowledge, the Spirit of Council and Might, the Spirit of Knowledge and Fear of the LORD.

The Seven Spirits aren’t individual entities, they are all OF God who is ONE Spirit. They represent the measures of the gifts of His Spirit. Solomon received a measure to God’s Spirit a measure of God’s Wisdom and Understanding for example.

1 Kings 4:29 And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea shore.

David also received measures of God’s Spirit.

1 Samuel 16: 13 Then Samuel took the horn of oil, and anointed him in the midst of his brethren: and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from that day forward.

Moses was made a god by God, where God directed Moses’s ways bestowing powers of His Spirit upon him.

Exodus 7:1 And the LORD said unto Moses, See, I have made thee a god to Pharaoh: and Aaron thy brother shall be thy prophet.

Jesus however was the only human to receive the Spirit of God without measure and by such on earth he was seen as being in the form of God, but he humbled himself and only used his gifts of the Spirit for God’s will and not ever for his own.

ME: Yes, I agree and to expand,

Proverbs 11:13 A talebearer revealeth secrets: but he that is of a faithful spirit concealeth the matter.

Proverbs 14:29 He that is slow to wrath is of great understanding: but he that is hasty of spirit exalteth folly.

Proverbs 16:18 Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.

Proverbs 16:19 Better it is to be of an humble spirit with the lowly, than to divide the spoil with the proud.

Numbers 5:30 Or when the spirit of jealousy cometh upon him, and he be jealous over his wife, and shall set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law.

These spirits directly equate to emotions/thoughts/our character. As we humans have multiple emotions/thoughts/diversities within our character,  these spirits are manifested upon certain experiences and circumstances that we face. The fruits of God’s Spirit are the gifts of a gentle spirit, kind spirit, loving spirit, self controlled spirit, honest spirit, humble spirit. He is the source of all that is good, as Jesus said, “only God is good”. Without God a man is left to his own devices which man’s devices are compared to a serpent whose poison is under it’s tongue, or a dog that returns to his own vomit, or a swine that rolls in the mud, thus an ignorant WILD creature that only follows what he knows naturally.

Celestial does NOT equate to being a spirit, it equates to where your abode is.

Celestial transliterated – Epouranios,  existing in heaven

God’s messengers have BODIES they are not spirit entities. 

As God’s messengers, God gives them of His Spirit and the powers therein to fulfill His will. By that power they can appear and disappear, they can be made in the appearance of humans, they can perform all sorts of signs, miracles, and wonders. God sends them to bless and curse according to His will and they follow that will.

Celestial messengers that carry out God’s will to be an adversary and withstand against man, in Hebrew tongue can rightfully thus be called SAW-TAWN/SATAN, as that word means to be an adversary to withstand.

Carmel, to be righteously spiritual means that you have God’s Spirit working within you leading your ways to be of His rightful ways. Spiritual does not equate to being a spirit. Neither does being carnally minded equate to being possessed by wicked spirit entities. To be carnally minded is to be like a viper whose poison is under it’s tongue, or a dog that returns to his own vomit, or a sow who likes to wallow in his own dung. To be carnally minded is to only know what you know naturally like an ignorant beast where you corrupt yourself.

Jodi….I agree, that spirits are not physically beings , they effect our mental perceptions, the “state of our minds”.  I also believe as it says, that spirit begets spirits. Rather clean or unclean.  The more you allow in to your mind the more it will beget.

The reason God started the idea of clean and un-clean foods was to introduce the idea of clean and unclean spirits,  what kind of spirits we “eat” (take to ourselves)  that will become our state of being. As in the parable of the unclean spirit, the unclean spirit attached to more worse then itself,  and they last state of that man was worse the the first state.

My understanding of Matthew 12:43-45 and Luke 11:24-26,

I’d like to first reflect on a couple of other passages,

Luke 8:11 Now the parable is this: The seed is the word of God.12 Those by the way side are they that hear; then cometh the devil, and taketh away the word out of their hearts, lest they should believe and be saved. 13 They on the rock are they, which, when they hear, receive the word with joy; and these have no root, which for a while believe, and in time of temptation fall away.

Now the devil above is a slanderer against God’s word and God’s ways and tempts those who initially received the word and had joy but then were corrupted by another’s deception and easily fell as they had no root.

2 Peter 2:20 For if after they have escaped the pollutions of the world through the knowledge of the Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, they are again entangled therein, and overcome, the latter end is worse with them than the beginning. 21 For it had been better for them not to have known the way of righteousness, than, after they have known it, to turn from the holy commandment delivered unto them. 22 But it is happened unto them according to the true proverb, The dog is turned to his own vomit again; and the sow that was washed to her wallowing in the mire.

No doubt that likewise those who Jesus healed casting out unclean spirits also experienced joy and believed, however some were like those on the rock mentioned above in Luke 8, and like those mentioned in 2 Peter 2, who turned away and would have been better off having not believed, or in the case below been healed at all.

Luke 11: 23 He that is not with me is against me: and he that gathereth not with me scattereth. 24 When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest; and finding none, he saith, I will return unto my house whence I came out. 25 And when he cometh, he findeth it swept and garnished. 26 Then goeth he, and taketh to him seven other spirits more wicked than himself; and they enter in, and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first.

I believe that the above is referencing some of the people who Jesus healed of unclean spirits, and they did not in the end actually follow Jesus and be with him, so their end state became worse then their first state and they would have been better off if Jesse wouldn’t have healed them in the first place. It’s like God had the unclean spirit in wait, seeing the person’s response and they did not gather to Jesus and so a larger curse with more unclean spirits was set upon them.

The word wicked in verse 26 in my opinion is improper in this case, as the transliterated word is Poneroteros meaning more of Poneros and Poneros means,

full of labours, annoyances, hardships
pressed and harassed by labours
bringing toils, annoyances, perils; of a time full of peril to Christian faith and steadfastness; causing pain and trouble
bad, of a bad nature or condition
in a physical sense: diseased or blind

Ehp 6:12……For we wrestle not against flesh and blood,  but against principalities  against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against “spiritual” wickedness in high places.

ME: My understanding is that the man was healed but he did not turn and follow Christ afterward, so as he was not with Christ he was thus against Christ and God allowed for him to be inflicted with more unclean spirits/infirmities from disease. Things like bacteria, viruses, fungi…thrive on moisture environments, and parasites need a host. The virus Encephalitis causes infirmities such as confusion, memory loss, agitation, hallucinations, seizures, vomiting, paralysis, speech and hearing problems. Before, during, and after the time of Jesus, what we now know to be a virus, use to be believed to be a demon possessing you, a demon associated with myths and fables and false gods.

There is a lot to discuss! I will post soon my understanding of Ephesians 6:12 and more about unclean spirits.

The bible makes it VERY CLEAR where SIN comes FROM, where spiritual wickedness lives.

Genesis makes it clear in the beginning that it is man’s OWN IMAGINATION that gets him into trouble. 

5 And GOD saw that the wickedness of man was great in the earth, and that every imagination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually.

21 And the LORD smelled a sweet savour; and the LORD said in his heart, I will not again curse the ground any more for man’s sake; for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth.

Deuteronomy and Chronicles,

19 And it come to pass, when he heareth the words of this curse, that he bless himself in his heart, saying, I shall have peace, though I walk in the imagination of mine heart, to add drunkenness to thirst:

Spiritual wickedness is the wickedness of men according to their OWN imaginations.

MEN follow their OWN spirit and deceive others, men in power follow their own imaginations being fools they think they are WISE. ALL that is in the world comes by the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes and the pride of life. 

Jude 1: 10 But these speak evil of those things which they know not: but what they know naturally, as brute beasts, in those things they corrupt themselves.11 Woe unto them! for they have gone in the way of Cain, and ran greedily after the error of Balaam for reward, and perished in the gainsaying of Core. 18 How that they told you there should be mockers in the last time, who should walk after their own ungodly lusts. 19 These be they who separate themselves, sensual, having not the Spirit…22 But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves. 23 For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass:…26 If any man among you seem to be religious, and bridleth not his tongue, but deceiveth his own heart, this man’s religion is vain.

Man’s religion is vain, he deceiveth his own heart inventing spiritual wickedness.

Palms 73: 22 So foolish was I, and ignorant: I was as a beast before thee.

Man deceives himself, and he is likened to a beast being ignorant as beasts do not know the ways of God but only know what they know naturally. 

Jeremiah 37: 9 Thus saith the LORD; Deceive not yourselves,

I Corinthians 3: 18 Let no man deceive himself.

1 John 1: 8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

Isaiah 59:4 None calleth for justice, nor any pleadeth for truth: they trust in vanity, and speak lies; they conceive mischief, and bring forth iniquity.

MAN is likened to beasts, likened to a serpent because they are deaf and blind to God and the poison of lies is under their tongue as they follow the imagination of their own hearts. They are like lions having wicked teeth, where man is said to shoot arrows of lies.

Now given all the scriptures above who are the roaring lions? Who are the slanderers, deceivers DIABOLOS/devils? WHO persecuted Jesus?

1 Peter 5:8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil (DIABOLOS-slanderer, false accuser, deceiver) , as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:

Jesus’s followers were being warned against men who sought to persecute them, and they would seek Christians as roaring lions and as serpents speaking lies/diabolos-devil, false accuser. Their problem you are told multiple times is their own desires, their own corruption, their own deceiving, their own imaginations and that which they invent from their own hearts. They are likened to beasts, they are dragons, lions, serpents, dogs, swine, for they follow what they know naturally being ignorant fools, thinking they are wise in their own spiritual wickedness. 

The passages in my previous post make it very clear why men sin, where spiritual wickedness comes from, and there is NO hint, no word, no scripture that ever speaks of there being some realm of bad spirits that put thoughts in your mind, no rebel fallen angels that deceive you.

Spiritual wickedness is of man, it’s according to their imaginations, their spirits are wicked as they produce every wind of false doctrine, where in the name of fake gods and their fake demons/unclean spirits, they perform wicked rituals and witchcraft, the works of vanity and deception.

I am having trouble posting. I posted something and then edited it immediately after and submitted it and it was as if I never posted. Now I have tried to post it again several times and it never gets posted. I have logged out and in two times, I have exited out of the website and came back in. The thread shows that there are 2 pages but nothing is on the second page, just wondering if that is the glitch where new posts need to go onto the second page but for some reason it won’t. When I submit it takes me to what appears to be the second page but it only shows this box to enter a post, where usually after you post it takes you to the page where your new post was posted.
