TO ALL…….We are told in 1 Pet 2:24….WHO, his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we , BEING DEAD TO SINS, should live unto rightiousness: by whose stripts you were heald.
This is a very powerfull statement, so i ask in WHAT “WAY’ ARE WE “existing” BEING DEAD TO SINS?
peace and love to you all and yours ………………gene

SIN in the flesh
See Rom 7
April 7, 2015 at 3:51 am#793029GeneBalthropParticipantNick…..What i ask was in what “WAY” do we exist as being dead to sin, ROM 7, SHOWS SIN AS STILL BEING ALIVE IN THE FLESH. SO AGAIN I ASK, IN WHAT “WAY” ARE WE EXISTING AS DEAD TO SIN?
Is it because of JESUS SACRIFICE , we are no longer “ACOUNTED” as sinners, even if we still have sins IN OUR FLESH?

The sons of God are led by the Spirit of God
not sin in the flesh.
April 9, 2015 at 3:12 am#793322GeneBalthropParticipantNick……i know that, but that was not my question, if we acknowledge that we still as paul said are under sinthat works in our menbers, then “HOW” OR IN WHAT WAY ARE WE DEAD TO SIN? OBEVISELY WE ALL STILL SIN AT TIMES, SO HOW DOE THAT SATEMENT APPLY, THAT IS MY QUESTON NICK.

April 9, 2015 at 5:39 am#793328kerwinParticipantGene,
The words “dead to” mean “cut off from” just death cuts those that die off from the living. That is what Paul states ‘since we are dead to sin how shall we keep living in it’ (Romans 6:2).
April 9, 2015 at 5:49 am#793329kerwinParticipantGene,
Romans 7 is complicated enough without people focussing on what their soulish nature want to hear and ommiting that part which they do not not want to hear.
Romans 7:8-10Douay-Rheims 1899 American Edition (DRA)
8 But sin taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.
9 And I lived some time without the law. But when the commandment came, sin revived,
10 And I died. And the commandment that was ordained to life, the same was found to be unto death to me.
Paul is speak of his struggles under the Law of Mosses and it does not apply to the time when he is “dead to sin”.
He describes that time with the words in verse 25 and leads up to it in verse 24.

Those who are elect always have a choice.
the sons of God ARE LED BY THE SPIRIT OF GOD.
THE WHOLE OF CREATION WAITS TO SEE WHO THESE ARE
April 9, 2015 at 7:06 am#793337NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
CONSIDER YOURSELF dead to sin.
The Spirit God gives us is more powerful than sin in us.
We can be enabled to be overcomers. Resist satan and he will flee from you.
April 9, 2015 at 8:16 am#793346GeneBalthropParticipantkerwin…… so Being you are dead to sin , you then no longer sin, Right?
John said if we say we have no sin we are liars, and Paul , also said that good i would do, i do not but that evil i would not do that i do. O wretched man that i am, who can deliever me from this body of death.
You can only be viewed as sinless because of the sacrifice of JESUS CHRIST,
NICK TRUE RIGHTIOUSNESS IS A CREATION OF GOD, IT IS NOT A SELF CHOICE, “FOR HE (GOD) WORKS “IN US” BOTH TO “WILL” (WHICH CAUSES US TO DESIRE) AND DO HIS (GOOD WORKS).
“FOR YOU ARE BEING “CREATED” UNTO RIGHTIOUSNESS”, it is a work of GOD ALONE, THAT IS WHY IT SAYS, BY “GRACE” YOU HAVE BEEN SAVED NOT OF OUR WORKS , IT IS A “GIFT” FROM GOD. LEAST ANY BOAST.
THOSE WHO THINK THEY ARE BEING SAVED BY THEIR OWN PERSONAL CHOICES ARE NOT OF GOD. IMO
“CAN A LEPOARD CHANGE IT SPOTS ,OR A ETHIOPIAN HIS SKIN?”, NEITHER CAN WE OF OUR OWN PERSONAL CHOICES CHANGE EITHER.

April 9, 2015 at 12:56 pm#793392AndrewADParticipantSo we give all glory to God for all our good decisions, but to our bad ones we can blame the devil and our sinful flesh. As Paul says in Rom 7:17 “it’s no longer I that sin but sin that dwelleth in me”-that’s a very gracious verse. It’s not the real me for the real me is crucified with Christ, but nevertheless I live and the sin that dwelleth in me is still there. But for the sake of theological psychiatry let’s just say it’s not me because the real me in Christ doesn’t want to sin.
April 9, 2015 at 1:04 pm#793395AndrewADParticipantThe life I now live in my still sinful flesh I live by faith.
April 9, 2015 at 1:13 pm#793396GeneBalthropParticipantAndrewAD………GOOD POST, yes the life we now live we live by faith in the son of GOD, JESUS THE CHRIST OF GOD.

April 9, 2015 at 2:31 pm#793404AndrewADParticipantPeace and love to you and yours too Gene! Thank you!
April 9, 2015 at 2:47 pm#793408kerwinParticipantAndrew,
The life I now live in my still sinful flesh I live by faith.
James would say your faith is dead because faith without works is dead. (James 2:17, 20, 26)
The only mention I find in Scripture of sinful flesh is Roman 8:3 and there it speaks of Jesus being sent in the likeness of it.
Paul in agreement with James teaches us is “the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith”. *Romans 1:17 AV of the KJV) That righteousness that comes by faith is the new man that is created like God in true righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:24).
April 9, 2015 at 2:58 pm#793410AndrewADParticipantDid I say Paul or myself is a blatant sinner with no good works? of course not!
The righteousness that comes by faith is the new man which is what I was saying also.
April 9, 2015 at 3:05 pm#793412AndrewADParticipantThe point is none of us are perfect are we? some think they are but others might not agree with them. When Paul says he still has sin in his flesh what does that mean? Paul says in Philippians that he is not yet perfect but is still striving to attain that.He doesn’t think he has yet attained it and I agree with him.

Exactly! He might as well have said, I sin but I’m not going to worry about it, that’s quite different than:
Genesis 4:7
7 If thou doest well, shall it not be lifted up? and if thou doest not well, sin coucheth at the door: and unto thee shall be its desire, but do thou rule over it.
April 9, 2015 at 3:11 pm#793414kerwinParticipantGene,
John said if we say we have no sin we are liars, and Paul , also said that good i would do, i do not but that evil i would not do that i do. O wretched man that i am, who can deliever me from this body of death.
These are just passages that are misused by those who love darkness and therefore will not come into the light.
So according to this lie you have heard John is supposed to claim everyone sins and yet a few verses latter he states “if you sin” instead of “when you sin”. The word if means either the person that hear sinned or they did not sin which makes the idea he was insisting believers always sin a lie. He is not given contradictory messages so there are clearly some that do not sin.
To fit John’s later and earlier words he would either be speaking of the sinful nature or past sins. I favor past sins.
The new man does exist.
April 9, 2015 at 3:17 pm#793416kerwinParticipantAndrewAD,
The point is none of us are perfect are we?
Those who believe Scripture believe differently as they know those who live by the Spirit do not sin.
Either Paul lied or it is possible to put on the new man created like God in true righteousness and holiness.
Get the hunger and thirst for righteousness and you will seek it until you find it. That is why Jesus called us to seek God’s righteousness and then told us we seek will find.
Satan tries to discourage you by what is but faith is about hoping for what you do not have yet.
