I do not believe those that hunger and thirst for righteousness go to heaven after death. Instead they go to the paradise section of Sheol to await judgement day. It is my hope my dead siblings and others have went there as well. Whatever the case God is both just and merciful. I wish people cared about changing themselves to love others than they seem to. At most people seem to just be looking for fire insurance. That is sad.

Fire insurance (good way to put it) is sad. But God knows the heart.

Nick is correct that the righteous dead going to heaven with God is a myth. The truth is the righteous dead go to rest with the souls of humanity in what is called the paradise of Sheol/Hades. In some ways the difference is not that great as God is there as well. The important point is the dead await resurrection and judgement.
Nick and Kerwin, I believe we go up to God when we die, and that down here is only temporary. Once we leave here we will look back on the experience as a really strange experience, and be glad it’s over. Can’t show scripture because I’m on my mobile.
