Hi Everyone,
What can be done to prevent Spam postings?
If I had the capability to delete it, I would do that.
One thing I try to do is keep them off the front Page.God bless

T8 has tried to keep spam from the board but alas to no avail, I have always taken Nick's capabilities and reflected them to the other moderators, however this is not the case.
They are able to delete post but not threads apparently.
Do miss Nick though he watched over the board very well.
Hope all is well Edj. Take care.

Hi Ed. Just don't continue to say the same things. If you do this, no one will mistake your repeated questions for spam.

http://www.holycitybiblecode.orgDecember 22, 2010 at 12:33 am#229539princess of the kingParticipant*David when does repetitiveness become a behavior problem, any organized religion is repetitive in traditions, prayers can be repetitive, how we live our lives can become repetitive.
Everybody wants to be understood, which is not possible by any individual. However it is possible to either choice to accept or disagree.
Words are powerful. With this type of power which is magnified being blessed and highly favor by divine, right and pure can move mountain's.
This religious spirit that runs rampid, very deep seeded started very early needs to be removed, sent away.
How hard is it: forgive the person, or forgive the words the person spoke. Then take our actions and add too it, just takes us up a bit more. People reach out for this, when I have learned to reach in, for that divine spark was given a long time ago, would love to get back to it.
To reach the place that says I am ok here, if the world would only feel they were ok, and somewhat take a sabbath, or a jubilee year, the world is never satisfied how saddening is that. Cannot rest or be at peace.
You take care of yourself david, lunar moon is in cycle, plays with our bodies, that is why your spirit is to be strong.
No matter every one of us has warrior in us, a bit of a fight, which i find to be comfortable with, it does not take from my peace.

What I cannot understand with your numberology is that, the ancient texts do not have numbers. So what you present to me, as your audience and your audience response has brought that numbers can be manipulated, how do you think science became about.
Just my take on the subject.
Take care Edj, you have a peaceful and blessed everyday. Much love.

Hi Ed.
I thought you asked a question on how to prevent spamming. In retrospect, I suppose you were not referring to the people who generally post on this board. When you mentioned spamming, I naturally thought of you because of your repeating the same question to me 15 times.Spamming: refers to the rapid, repeated use of the same item or action.
Therefore, mathematically speaking, my single response to your question is not spamming.
How ironic that numbers should prove you wrong.

Hi David,A person was trying to sell Viagra pills in Feedback & Suggestions.
Would you not agree that doing so constitutes as 'spam'?God bless

http://www.holycitybiblecode.orgDecember 23, 2010 at 6:27 am#229720davidParticipantYes, obviously that is wrong. Spamming of any sort is wrong. Its in the rules.
December 23, 2010 at 11:11 am#229780AdminKeymasterThere are currently 3 mods who can delete posts and topics.
Also, when people register, their email address is checked against a spamming database or two.
If they are a spammer, they are deleted and the domain of their address (bar yahoo, gmail, etc) is also banned.
Of those that make it through, some are spammers, some are not.If a spammer registers early, before being placed in a spammers database, and the address is not dodgy, (doesn't have the word sex or videos in the name for example), then you can only give them a go, until they show themselves for the spammers they really are.
In fact, the system has been too tough in the past. You might have seen a person posting and then find that they are deleted. That is because their email address looked very much like a spammers address and the members posts didn't show up in new posts because it is older.
It is hard to find the line because there isn't a line. The border of legit and spamming email addresses has a common area in the middle that cannot be dissected by any line.
In other words, no amount of checks is 100% fool proof because legit users and spammers have things in common. In fact in a worse case scenario, 2 users could register. Both pass the spammers database check, and one has an address that screams “I am a spammer”, the other is something like [.]. You delete the first one and give the second guy a go, only to find that the spammer is the second guy and the first one was legit. This has happened.
Then you could argue that plugging in a bot-check by asking for a combination of letters at registration might do the trick, but spammers often visit in person and post a seemingly innocent post, and when they see that they are posting OK, then they spam at a later date.
All these clever techniques often make me think that if they put all that energy into making something good that they would probably get a better reward.

Hi T,Thanks for this info.
I'm glad all the Mods can delete the Spam!
I would Post posts just to bump the Spamer off the front Page.
I also wondered why some of the newer members were deleted from their membership.God bless

Either the mods do not know that they can delete unwanted threads or just choose not too.
This noted spam was posted on the forum, however one of your mods had created and posted his own thread, while the mod was still on, I ask him to remove the unwanted thread, the only post that was removed was mine. with the uwanted thread still there.
oh well, some of the things you experience on forums.
Take care T8, hope all is well with you and yours.

or not, either or. thank you.

January 1, 2011 at 1:24 am#230860SongParticipantCan I ask too please, thankyou.
January 5, 2011 at 9:28 pm#232090ProclaimerParticipantEditing rights is given when a user has been posting for a while. The reason it is not given to newer members is that it stops spammers from abusing that feature. i.e., they post a legit post and change it later. A member who has posted for quite a while and has good posts earns editing rights because they have a good track record. Sorry about that. It is a rule to stop abuse on the forum.
