Hi T8,
Of course the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of the Father and the Son.
The Spirit of the Son -Gal 4.6-is the Word of God- 1jn1
The Sword can penetrate between soul and spirit. heb 4.12
The Spirit of the Father is the Spirit of truth-jn 14,15,16
February 18, 2016 at 2:17 pm#809248ProclaimerParticipantBut Jesus was born the son of God. So are you saying that he was or had the Holy Spirit when he was born as the son of God?
Luke 1:35
And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee shall be called the Son of God.February 18, 2016 at 2:25 pm#809249NickHassanParticipantHi t8,
As you know he was son of God by conception and a son of God through Adam.
By his rebirth at the Jordan and walking in the Spirit he was a Son of God according to the Spirit.
For all who are being led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God
Rom 8
February 18, 2016 at 5:24 pm#809256Ed JParticipantThe problem with the notion that the Word is the Holy Spirit is that the Sword of the Spirit is called the Word of God.
Ephesians 6:17
Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.So it would be like saying that the son of God is God or the colour of a house is the house.
Hi T8,
So nice of you to take the topic seriously!
Here is what the verse you are pointing to says (minus the unrelated words):Sword of the Spirit is “The Word”
This can be illustrated as…
“Sword” → “The Word”“his name is called The Word of God.”
“And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword” (Rev 19:13,15)
And this can be illustrated as…
“The Word” → “Sword”So here is a more completed illustration…
“The Word” → “Sword” → “The Word”
I hope you are getting thisAnd finally here in Heb 4:12 we actually see that “The Word” is indeed “the sharp sword”…
“For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword,
piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow,
and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” (Heb 4:12)Conclusion:
If “The Word” is the Sword,
and it’s source is the Spirit,
Then “The Word” sitting on the
white horse MUST BE “The Spirit”.And this is confirmed in the following verse…
“The Words”, “they are spirit” (John 6:63)_______________
God bless

February 22, 2016 at 6:48 pm#809486GeneBalthropParticipantAndrewAD. ….JESUS was begotten by God physically through Mary, he was spritually begotten when he recieved the spirit of God the Father at the Jordan River Baptism, by John , that is when the spirit of the living GOD his Father came into him forever, and he became a spritual son of GOD, THE EXACT SAME MUST HAPPEN TO EACH OF US, we all must recieve the spirit of God that will remain in us for ever. we become one with GOD THROGH, THE IMPREGNATION OF HIS SPIRIT.
THEREFORE it says….. “if the spirit of him that raised christ Jesus FROM The grave, dwell “IN YOU”, He will “ALSO” QUICKEN YOUR MORTAL BODY.”
NO DIFFERENCE same God same SPIRIT.

If anyone is thirsty let him come to me and drink.
The Spirit in Christ Jesus invites all to share the blessing.
February 23, 2016 at 4:23 pm#809540AndrewADParticipantDear Gene,
I too was physically born of a Mary and born again at the Jordan -I have a baptismal certificate from Israel even. But I’m still working, with the Spirits help to turn water to wine and multiply loaves of bread to feed the hungry. I hope I’ll get there before I ascend into nothingness, but if not at least I’m trying. And don’t you dare condemn me for my lack of faith.

Hi AndrewAD,
As God’s Son, Christ was born with God’s nature;
but he had “power” to give us that nature after
he was baptized with God’s HolySpirit at Jordan.‘How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power:
who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil;
for God was with him.” (Acts 10:38)“John answered, saying unto them all, I indeed baptize you with water;
but one mightier than I cometh, the latchet of whose shoes I am not worthy to unloose:he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost and with fire: Whose fan is in his hand,
and he will throughly purge his floor, and will gather the wheat into his garner;
but the chaff he will burn with fire unquenchable.” (Luke 3:16-17)Here’s a paraphrase of Micah 5:2…
Whose goings have been from everlasting shall come forth out of thee Bethlehem. And in John 1:15 “he was before me” is confirmation Micah 5:2 “from everlasting to Bethlehem”
This was he of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me: for he was before me.We can clearly see that Christ was than a man. I will
cite two more verses in case you are still uncertain:“Who hath ascended up into heaven, or descended? who hath gathered the wind in his fists?
who hath bound the waters in a garment? who hath established all the ends of the earth?
what is his name, and what is his son’s name,
if thou canst tell? 5 Every word of God is pure” (Prov 30:4-5)“The LORD(JEHOVAH) said unto my Lord(Jesus), Sit thou at
my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool.
The LORD(JEHOVAH) shall send the rod of thy strength(HolySpirit)
out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies.” (Psalms 110:1-2)_______________
God bless

That is Nick’s and perhaps Gene’s hypothesis but I and others disagree.
It is disproved by the fact that Jesus never sinned though tempted as is common to humanity.
- Jesus must have been tempted just as humans are from the point such temptations begin in human or it would not be true that he is tempted as is common to humanity.
- The only way a person can overcome temptation at all time is to walk according to the Spirit or if God prevents them from sinning. There is no evidence the later has ever occurred and if it did it was not because of my first point.
Nick and Gene claim he lived by the Law because he was under the Law but that implies he lived by the flesh which is at war with the Spirit.
February 23, 2016 at 10:40 pm#809550NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
God resists the proud and gives grace to the humble.
Jesus was humble .
By grace we are saved and by grace Jesus satisfied the demands of the law.
February 24, 2016 at 5:12 am#809556kerwinParticipantNick,
By grace we are saved and by grace Jesus satisfied the demands of the law.
That is not written though it is essentially equivalent to the idea that God prevented him from sinning and it has the same flaw. The flaw being that he then not be tempted as is common to humanity.
Jesus is the Author of our faith. He was first to receive and walk by the Spirit but he was not adopted like other humans for he did not get a chance to fall short of the glory of God before he received the Spirit. That and the strength of his faith were his sole advantages.
February 24, 2016 at 7:36 am#809558NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
He was tempted in every way that we are but never sinned.
Like every man born of woman he was born behind the 8 ball.
The servants of Satan, sin in the flesh, reside as lusts in everyone.
They conceive and give birth to sin when the man submits to them.
God provided the Law as schoolmaster so men can walk in that light.
Jesus did, by grace succeeded and became the first man to overcome.
In so doing he condemned sin in the flesh that all may find the same way.
Grace and truth came with Jesus Christ and all can partake in this victory.
James explained it.
February 24, 2016 at 9:27 am#809562kerwinParticipantNick,
The Law teaches you the differentiate right from wrong but does not provide the power of God to overcome. It is only by walking according the Spirit that one can overcome sin. That is done by faith.
If an creature does not have the Spirit then they can only walk according to flesh, which is at war with God. God has the power to suppress that rebellion but the evidence that has used it that way is circumstantial.
Faith comes by the grace of God, as does the Spirit or anything else.
Scripture literally declares one can either walk by the Spirit or walk according to the flesh. It does not give a third option. The closest to a third option is for God to suppress the desires of the flesh and it is not written that he did that even for the animals in the Garden.
Those that Live by the Spirit do the things of the Law and so show that they are not under the law for the Law is for Lawbreakers. The only reason Jesus was born under the Law is because he is a Hebrew.
The bottom line is that it was necessary for Jesus to walk according to the Spirit his whole life for him to be the Author of our faith. He did it by faith from first to last. That faith was given to him by the grace of God.
February 24, 2016 at 9:57 am#809564NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
You cannot walk in the Spirit til you are born of that Spirit as Jesus showed.
Grace has always supplied all the ability to those chosen by God.
February 24, 2016 at 4:06 pm#809571kerwinParticipantNick,
I agree that a person cannot walk in the Spirit till they are born in the Spirit which is conclusive evidence that Jesus had the Spirit to walk by prior to him being immersed at the Jordon.
John realized this which was why he saw no need to immerse Jesus but Jesus saw the immersion had to occur for all righteousness to be completed.
Matthew 3:10-15Authorized (King James) Version (AKJV)
10 And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire. 11 I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire: 12 whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.
13 Then cometh Jesus from Galilee to Jordan unto John, to be baptized of him. 14 But John forbad him, saying, I have need to be baptized of thee, and comest thou to me? 15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered him.
In verse 16 the baptism is described but John had declared earlier that his baptism was not of the Holy Spirit. Instead his was merely a baptism of repentance and Jesus had no need to repent.
February 24, 2016 at 5:23 pm#809575NickHassanParticipantHi KW,
Your opinion is insufficient evidence of a prior anointing.
You deny the grace of God.
February 25, 2016 at 3:54 am#809604GeneBalthropParticipantkerwin…..So why was Jesus not sent out into the world before his baptizm, why was it after it that he began to first be tempted by being lead out into th wilderness by the holy spirit, and go 40 days without any food or water, and then be tempted by Satan, and after that sent out into the world to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom of God. why was not a single mircale recorded before his baptizm, why did the spirit decend down like a dove and remain on him at that point.
Tell us why would God do it any different with Jesus then us, or Moses or any of the anointed elders, kings, and other leaders HE PERSONELY CHOSE for his use. you have produced no scripture that shows JESUS HAD THE HOLY SPIRIT OF GOD IN HIM BEFORE HE RECIEVED AT HIS BAPTIZM BY JOHN. GOD the Father was not “IN” HIM TILL THEN, AND THEN EMPOWERED HIM TO DO HIS WORK,JUST AS HE DID MOSES, AND THE OTHER LEADERS HE CHOSE TO USE BEFORE JESUS.
Peace and love to you and yours. …….gene
February 25, 2016 at 5:06 am#809605kerwinParticipantGene,
The evidence it that he was not given the authority to either preach the gospels or do miracles until after his baptism by John. Scripture states anointed to do preach the gospel and do good works and that may well have happened when the Spirit descended on him in the form of a dove.
The way I understand it is that God sent one instance of the Spirit out to teach Jesus all righteousness before he had the ability to do right and wrong. He gave Jesus this because of his exceptionally strong faith. He sent a second instance to grant Jesus the authority to preach the gospel and do good works.
You might want to check your facts as Jesus only without food during his vision quest. (Matthew 4:2 and Luke 4:2) It also seems to be wilderness and not dessert though the two may be the same.
The combination of the instruction to live by the Spirit and not by the flesh and the fact Jesus was tempted by evil even as common is enough support that Jesus’ spirit was born of Spirit before he had a chance to do wrong. If you require another one then you have his words that by their fruits you will know them. Jesus’ fruits were not of the flesh but they were and are of the Spirit.
God appointed Jesus to be the Christ before the world began.
It is the same reason he picked the Hebrews out of all the nations.
February 25, 2016 at 5:10 am#809606kerwinParticipantNick,
You disagree with Scripture and not me for Scripture state live by the Spirit and not by the flesh and the best I can do is repeat that instruction.
Jesus’ fruits revealed he walked according to the Spirit and not according to the flesh before he was immersed by John.
Don’t you believe Jesus’ words that by their fruit you will know them?
