Thinker……….GOD is a SPIRIT and a SPIRIT, is not a person that can be seen . as Jesus said after His resurrection, remember when they thought they had seen a Spirit, what Jesus said ” A SPIRIT HAS NOT FLESH AND BONE AS YOU SEE (I) HAVE”. So even after Jesus was resurected He still was NOT a SPIRIT , but Jesus said GOD (WAS) A SPIRIT. Seem we have another TRINITARIAN DILEMMA , That you will have to worn out of. IMO

So a Spirit is a being that cannot be seen, correct?

DB……….No, Spirit is not a (being) Spirit (intellect) is what is (IN) a Being. Spirit is what animates a Body. It resides in the mind in fact it is the mind. Without it there is (NO) life at all. Notice what Jesus said “don't fear them who can destory the body and after that can do no more , but fear Him who can destory (BOTH BODY AND SOUL) IN Hell or the grave”. NOTICE no spirit is mentioned here, the reason, a SOUL, is a body with a Spirit, that equals a Soul and if GOD does not raise us up we parish because a soul can not exist without a body. A SOUL =  BOTH BODY AND SPIRIT. One with out the other can not exist, so it is vital the FATHER does not leave us in the grave, or we would be destroyed. IMO

So what is God? And what is the Spirit of God?

God must be a being for Him to have a Spirit right?

DB………GOD (IS) SPIRIT, not a being having SPIRIT, GOD consists of seven Spirits , they are the seven Spirits of GOD, mentioned in REV. and they are coupled with POWER. SO they are SPIRIT POWERS. The reason no one has ever seen GOD at any time as Jesus said is Because He can not be Seen , only through the eye of our minds, because He is Spirit and You can't see Spirit its (INTELLECT)> GOD would be better described as life force that has His being in US, and all his creation. IMO

    Hi TC,
    Adam was the first.
    The first man

    Nick,

Adam was the first. Okay. Fine. You still prove nothing seeing as he is not ALSO the last. Man cannot be both first and last. Jesus' claim is far beyond anything only a man can be.

    Hey there,

I think it would be helpful if I knew what you believe Jesus saying he is the first and last, means.

    Thanks,    Jodi

    Jodi,

Jesus being the first and the last means that he existed in the beginning with God and that he will exist forever into eternity at the right hand of God. In the beginning God created and so did Jesus. This means that Jesus existed in the beginning. God says, “let us.”

    Genesis 1:26-27

    Quote
26 Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.”

27 So God created man in his own image,
          in the image of God he created him;
male and female he created them.

    TC27

That is true and Scriptures tell us that Jesus preexisted His Birth as a Human being. He is the Firstborn over all creation.
    Col. 1:15-17
He also created all by the Power of the Father. Jesus can do nothing of Himself. Also thinker quoted that :” The LORD or God and HIS SPIRIT. That shows that there is no third person of the trinity. I find that so ironic, that He showed that Scripture and still believes in a trinity. Also in other treads I and others have put forth Scriptures that prove the trinity wrong.
Jodi also showed many Scriptures that the LORD GOd is one God, not 3in1.

    Irene said:

    Quote
Jesus can do nothing of Himself.

Correction: Jesus COULD do nothing of Himself (past tense). He has been exalted since He said that and the scripture says that “to Him be the glory” (2 Peter 3:18). If He can do nothing of Himself now, then why does the scripture say “TO HIM be the glory?”

Read it again. It says that the Creator was sent by the Lord God AND His Spirit. The Creator is one. The Lord God is two and Spirit is three.

    Hi TT,
So Jesus was not the eternal unchanging God.
Maths is not much help in speaking of the One God.
Your division into three is not a scriptural fact at all.

Read Isaiah 48:12-16. It says that the Creator(1) is sent by the Lord God(2) AND His Spirit(3).

Person 1: Creator who was sent
    Person 2: Lord God
    Person 3: His Spirit

    Hi TT,
God sent His servant and His spirit which was infilled into him.
    Does this confuse you?

Surely you know Jesus was a servant of God and filled with God's Spirit from the Jordan?

He was servant indeed. But in Isaiah He is called the Creator. Here is a multiple choice question for you,

    The creator was:
    1. a man
    2. an angel
    3. a demon
    4. God

    check one please

    Hi TT,
    God is the creator.
Jesus is never called the creator.

Your circular reasoning is an odd way to try to justify false teaching.
