I based that on the scripture that says For we are “SAVED” BY “GRACE” and that “NOT OF OURSELVES it is a GIFT from GOD.
Nowhere did I say we do nothing in our lives to comply with the spirit of GOD. How can a man who is truly converted by God not want to do his will? If his mind has been changed his thinking has also and he will try to do things the way GOD leads Him.
For it is “GOD” who “WORKS” in us “BOTH” TO “WILL” AND DO OF “HIS” GOOD PLEASURE
You hate that scripture because you believe it is your yourself that saves yourself by your own so-called “FREEWILL CHOICES” . YOU don't seem to want GOD to have any thing to do with it, your saving yourself because that will give you something to boast and get puffed up about.
That is exactly why scripture says GOD saves us by GREACE Lest ANY MAN SHOULD BOAST. That scripture is there for people like you who think they can “EARN” their salvation. IMO

Gene.I agree with you that we are expected to do good works.
All good works done from the heart is accepted to God.
Good works done for other motives is an abomination to God;for it is not good works.The world feed the poor as you can see on tv, but they do that for politics sake.
Donating millons to the poor, but also advertising it;is an abomination to God.wakeup.

Did Jesus not say he would divide up the nation and Judje them according to there charitable works at his return. I believe we as people of the US give to other poor nations for the sake of helping them out. I choose to believe that and Not only the US does that BUT many other Nations do also. Why make our relationship with the LORD difficult when it is not. If we do Justly, Love Mercy, walk HUMBLY with our God, that is all that is required of us, to please God.
Do you believe that the Christians in the time of Jesus and all the way into the 1500 century back to the time of Abraham, even had bibles, well they did not have them, and if they did, they could have been killed by the Catholic Church at one time. It troubles me to see people make Gods way hard, when it is not, in fact it is easer to live Gods way then the way of the world or man, IMO
