Hi GM,
Read again
“”His spirit departs, he returns to the earth; In that very day his thoughts perish”. Another proof that only our spirit reaches God not our soul as per Eccl 12:7″So when the spirit returns to God where does HE go?
HE does not return to God but the earth
Who is the HE? The Soul.July 23, 2008 at 10:25 am#98737gollamudiParticipantSo 'He' means soul not body ?
You mean to say a person's soul not body returns to ground?
No scriptural proof for this brother Nick.July 23, 2008 at 6:39 pm#98758NickHassanParticipantHi GM,
His body is earth.July 24, 2008 at 8:24 am#98832gollamudiParticipantSo brother, 'He' is soul and his body is earth- according to which verse?
July 24, 2008 at 9:09 am#98839NickHassanParticipantHi GM,
Gen3
19In the sweat of thy face shalt thou eat bread, till thou return unto the ground; for out of it wast thou taken: for dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return.Psalm 86:13
For Your lovingkindness toward me is great,And You have delivered my soul from the depths of Sheol.Psalm 89:48
What man can live and not see death? Can he deliver his soul from the power of Sheol? Selah.Psalm 131:2
Surely I have composed and quieted my soul;Like a weaned child rests against his mother,My soul is like a weaned child within me.Psalm 139:14
I will give thanks to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works,And my soul knows it very well.July 24, 2008 at 10:10 am#98853gollamudiParticipantHi brother Nick,
Thanks for those scriptures.
So you mean to say our soul goes to sheol on our death and rest there?
I think it may not have any memory of its own as per many scriptures in Job and Psalms. I also think that it must be a common place for both sinners and righteous.
Now I can get why Jesus used to mention death as sleep because their soul rests or sleeps in sheol.
Thanks and blessing
AdamJuly 24, 2008 at 6:00 pm#98880NickHassanParticipantHi GM,
I suggest that is true for all not in Christ.August 5, 2008 at 6:35 am#100148gollamudiParticipantHere is the wonderful article on “soul”

Please gothrough it with open mind.
Thanks
AdamAugust 5, 2008 at 7:27 am#100152NickHassanParticipantHiGM,
Wonderful?Trying to show the soul does not exist is not wonderful.
It is juts another variation on rebellion.
It denies God Himself.Psalm 11:5
The LORD trieth the righteous: but the wicked and him that loveth violence his soul hateth.August 5, 2008 at 9:19 am#100169gollamudiParticipantWhere does it say soul does not exit? You have mistaken my brother. Soul is nothing but our blood. It is the result of our body and Spirit from the creator as I was repeatedly telling. We consist of three only when we are born but when a man dies his spirit goes to God, body returns to dust and the soul may goes into silence as Jesus told dead are sleeping.
August 5, 2008 at 9:44 am#100176NickHassanParticipantHi GM,
Soul is not a result of some combination of spirit and body.Gen 2.7
7And the LORD God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul. Both SOUL and SPIRIT in man come from the BREATH of GOD into the body/dust of earth.
August 5, 2008 at 9:51 am#100178gollamudiParticipantSo you make this brother or the bible say that 'the soul and spirit came from God'?
August 5, 2008 at 4:50 pm#100228AnonymousInactiveHi Nick:
Another Barn-burner topic! Confusion is Maximized by exchanging defintions of Spirit and Soul and not knowing what the clear defintions we can aggree on are. I believe there is a combination of Mind, Body and Spirit to form a living Human. Confusions arise when mind and spirit are used as same and to confuse further soul and spirit are also defined as same at times.
Quote:(Nick)
Both SOUL and SPIRIT in man come from the BREATH of GOD into the body/dust of earth. If above true then spirit here is used as substitute for mind. Which some unspiritual or confused call Brain as well. But the Mind is a spiritual brain if you will and records our whole lives in perfection. The Brain is just the Animal mind left from evolutionary development prior to God breathing the Soul and Spirit into Adam. Human deayth is just the Body then the Spirit and soul go free. How the Soul may die I can only guess or read other opions or scripture of course. I know not how this Death is Possible … KAB-55

Truly makes no difference since the Mind I speak of is Just a “Spiritual recording device” with A complete perfect track of our life some people call this the spirit. I beleive it does come back but technically not as alive part. The Soul is all that truly matters and is US all that we are or can be. the Living = spirit equation is wrong also. I know how you are trying to use it but you are using a literal use of word not truth you can not have a spirit soul. Defintions again as usual divide us
Also Soul spirit is also not appropriate. Just soul is adaquate since most define this as the immortal element. All just definitons confused by lack of true experience in subvject of dying and coming back to tell of it so others understand. … KAB-56August 5, 2008 at 8:04 pm#100247IreneParticipantEvery living and breathing creature is a soul, birds, fish, beasts, humans, are all souls.
There is absolutely nothing immortal in us. God gave us life, and he can take it from us.
Even Jesus received immortality, only after his job here on earth was done, John 5:26.
And that is why now he can die no more, Rom. 6:9.
The spirit that returns to God is his Holy Spirit that he gave us, it does not remain in a dead soul.
Compared to an animal brain, the human brain has no information in it, it is not even fully developed.
As the baby grows, so does information enter into the brain were it is stored in memory.
As the baby grows bigger, so does the information it has collected, it then learns how to utilize this information and make sense out of it, that is what is called a mind, Paul calls it the spirit in man.
Add to that the spirit of God, the Holy Spirit, and you will be able to understand the things of God.
It is that Spirit, God's Holy Spirit, that goes back to God who gave it.Georg
August 5, 2008 at 8:15 pm#100249NickHassanParticipantHi Georg,
The Spirit does not abide in those who sleep in Christ?
That Spirit is faithful and does never forsake us unto resurrection.August 5, 2008 at 8:32 pm#100254IreneParticipantNo Nick, they are dead, what good can God's Holy Spirit do in a dead person?
Georg
August 5, 2008 at 8:46 pm#100259NickHassanParticipantHi Georg,
Dead?1 Thessalonians 4:14
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him.Alive to God.
Matthew 22:32
I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.Romans 8:11
But if the Spirit of him that raised up Jesus from the dead dwell in you, he that raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken your mortal bodies by his Spirit that dwelleth in you.Hebrews 13:5
Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee.August 5, 2008 at 8:57 pm#100260NickHassanParticipantQuote (Kimba08 @ Aug. 06 2008,07:56) Hi Nick: Quote The mind of man does not return to God only his source of lIFE Aggreed with minor exception that Matters little.
