Quote The spirit of man gives life to man.
Man does not make carnal his spirit lent him by God.The spirit of man is carnal by birth.
The spirit is a hybrid life because of sin in the garden.September 29, 2006 at 6:49 am#29600NickHassanParticipantHi Malcolm,
“And the spirit of the world – which is the spirit of the flesh – is death.”
But these do not speak of the human spirit but the minions of Satan.September 29, 2006 at 6:51 am#29601NickHassanParticipantHi Malcolm,
Any scriptural support for these statements?
“The spirit of man is carnal by birth.
The spirit is a hybrid life because of sin in the garden.”Every man has a spirit.
Sin rules those from within who remain in the kingdom of darkness.September 29, 2006 at 8:26 am#29607malcolm ferrisParticipantQuote “And the spirit of the world – which is the spirit of the flesh – is death.” But these do not speak of the human spirit but the minions of Satan.
Blaming demons and devils for all our ills is a little simplistic I think
Paul said he KNEW (not suspected or thought)
That in him (Paul) – that is IN HIS FLESH DWELT NO GOOD THING!ROMANS 7:18
For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not.I don't think Paul is saying that the Devil makes him do it.
JAMES 1:13
Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed. It is OUR OWN LUST that spoils it, which is part of our fallen nature – the flesh is weak.
But the Spirit is willing. Now if that isn't a hybrid condition I don't know what is…
September 29, 2006 at 8:43 am#29609malcolm ferrisParticipantThe hybrid nature of God – due to a mixture of spiritual influences…
The tree of knowledge of good and evil produced a mixed (hybrid) fruit.
Not good and not evil – but a mixture of both.
This is death as it breaks the law of Gen 1:11 that declares
all seed must bring forth after its kind.
This is the law of life that when obeyed caused God to say 'it is good'This law was broken in the act of hybridization that happened in the garden.
Rom 7:7-25 does a pretty good job of explaining how this hybrid nature continues to be a bugbear even after rebirth.September 29, 2006 at 10:10 am#29613NickHassanParticipantWhat do others think?

September 30, 2006 at 10:05 pm#29762NickHassanParticipantHi Malcolm,
I do not beleve the nature of man was altered in any way by his behaviour in the garden. It was just that he had a choice and chose his own god. Satan offered him the chance to accept him instead as his god and he did so.Jesus exposed this situation when he came. His message was to show a way to safety for all men, an escape from their fate that God had otherwise determined.
Jn 8
” 44Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it. “Satan now had a kingdom of darkness on earth and ruled in the hearts of ALL MEN.
Eph 2
“1And you hath he quickened, who were dead in trespasses and sins;2Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience”
2Cor 4
“In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.”Lk 13
” 3I tell you, Nay: but, except ye repent, ye shall ALL likewise perish. “Acts 17
” 30And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth ALL men every where to repent:31Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.”
Rom 3
” 19Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.20Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.
21But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;
22Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
23For ALL have sinned, and come short of the glory of God; :”
Jn 3
” 35The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.36He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.”
Jn 12
” 31Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. “That is why Jesus rejoiced to see the fall of satan and the new crop in Peter.
Col 1
” 12Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:13Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:”

The soul of man is not immortal as it can be destroyed in the lake of fire.[Mt10.28]
Still it survives human death when the spirit returns to God[ecc12]
Active souls are seen below the altar in Rev 6June 10, 2008 at 4:27 am#92147Not3in1ParticipantI guess it will be a surprise then, won't it?
So many scriptures talk about death as sleep.I was taught to believe we went to heaven. But I don't see that in scripture.
What I do see is that after we die, we sleep.June 10, 2008 at 4:31 am#92148NickHassanParticipantHi not3,

June 10, 2008 at 6:40 pm#92235NickHassanParticipantHi DK,
But where does it say men live in heaven?
If you read Rev 21 it seems the final place of inheritance for man is earth.Do you still believe the JW dogma that all men are saved at death? It is similar to Universalism in that way.

trying to rid myself of all exegesis I assure youSaved? NO
But I do believe you have paid your “price” when you die
“new heavens and a new earth”
“going away to prepare a place for you”
“caught up in the twinkling of an eye”
“celestial/terrestial bodies”
“Bride of Christ/lamb”
These are all things that I am pondering..
June 10, 2008 at 8:41 pm#92254dirtyknectionsParticipantNick…
Honestly this is what I “believe” (still sudying/praying on this)..
I believe that all “new creations”…”baptized in christ”…”baptized in holy spirit” Christians are part of that new covenant that Christ instituted…therefore they have a heavenly hope…
And all people who lived and died before that time and people who did not avail themselves of this new covenant after Christ instituted it…will be on earth..
God “did not make the earth simply for nothing, but to be inhabited” (nwt)..that was his original purpose…therefore it will not change…
But Christ's new covenant with Chrstians after his death is heavenly…What will we do in heaven?
As revelation says in Ch 7 and 14…be kings and priests over the earth
So there you go…People in heaven..People on earth..
June 10, 2008 at 8:49 pm#92259NickHassanParticipantHi DK,
Men in heaven?
Certainly our hope is based in heaven.

In another thread GB said
“If we conceder that the soul is composed of the will, …”Does anyone agree?
